On my Vista Computer, Hewlett Packard tries to sell me an Extended Service Plan for my printer Every Day. Every Freaking Day!

Briefly: I Found the File that was Delivering the Advertisement and Deleted it... 

I deleted the file called
TotalCareSetup.ReminderPillar.Content
and that seems to defeat this advertisement...
it was hidden in C:\Program Files (x86)\Hewlett-Packard\HP TCS

also...

If I Drag the Advertisement Down to the bottom of the screen, the 'Reminder' goes into the Task Bar. I use Auto Hide, so most of the time the Reminder is not visible and the computer is still able to be to used... If I notice that the computer is slow, I right click on the Icon in the Taskbar and click on Close. The reminder stays away for 10 minutes.

And That's Good Enough For Me... Most of the Time... 

That's a Really Good Solution if You are Uncomfortable Deleting Files on the Computer... LIKE: What If This Breaks My Machine?

I AM using Norton 360 and there is a conflict between Norton's Startup Manager and the Windows Task Scheduler... I used Norton 360 to Turn OFF the Application hpwuSchd, restarted the computer, and continued on with my life after wasting a day troubleshooting malware... Deep Sigh...

It may be hidden in many different locations...

Mine was in C:\Program Files (x86) ... 

Use the Search Box... Type in hpwu and look for results...

Move the File to the Recycle Bin... 

Do Not Empty the Recycle Bin...

You may want to restore the application later...

In case this Screws Up Your Computer...

Restart The Computer...

Even after doing all this... The Malware Persists...

Service plan – Review warranty terms and conditions

There are reported instances where some notebook programs continue to display pop up reminders even after you perform the requested action. In
most of these instances, the program did not remove the Task Scheduler entry and the pop-up message displays each time the Task Scheduler
starts. To stop the pop-up message action from repeating, you must run the Task Scheduler program and manually remove the entry.

To prevent automated tasks from starting multiple times, remove the entry from the Task Scheduler by performing the following actions:
1. Click Start, type Scheduler in the search field, and select Task Scheduler when it appears.
If prompted for permission, click Continue.
2. In the left column, click Task Scheduler Library.
3. In the center column, select the task you want to stop.
4. In the right column, click Delete, and then click Yes to confirm deletion.
5. Close the Task Scheduler window.

It isn't patriotic to refuse to follow health guidelines during a pandemic. It IS patriotic to do your part to protect your fellow Americans from getting sick. It also is NOT patriotic to carry guns with you everywhere you go, and it's NOT patriotic to make fun of people who are uncomfortable around your guns. It's also not patriotic to ridicule those who have different political opinions than you. We've always had two parties in this country, and one is not more patriotic than the other. You want to know what IS patriotic? Previous generations actually lined up to enlist in the military because they WANTED to fight in World War I and World War II. Nobody had to force them to enlist, they WANTED to, and they did so voluntarily because they WANTED to make sacrifices for their country. THAT'S what it means to be patriotic. When I read about the way it used to be in this country, it makes me so sad that it's changed so much. Our own citizens stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6 to try to stop the counting of the electoral votes, therefore interfering with our democracy - and those people view themselves as patriots. Would they voluntarily enlist in the military if we were to go to war? I'm guessing not. Those types of fake "patriots" don't care about their country, they only care about themselves. That's the opposite of what it means to be a patriot.

RB: Look at the states that are behind in vaccinations . There is a pattern , I don’t think I need to say it we all know. They will not change ever. Cause like you say selfish.

MK: It blows my mind at how many groups and sub groups of armed people like the Oathkeepers exist with their own definitions of what “patriotism” is.

CF: Yep. It's a weird flex. Funny, I was just thinking about this while in my car yesterday. If I see an American flag somewhere nowadays, like on a bumper sticker or something, I don't immediately associate it with patriotism; I associate it with negative things, like bullying, petulance, ignorance, even terrorism. It's sad. The people who flaunt it like it's a fashion statement, rather than revering it, give it a bad name.

SE: Yeah, it really saddens me the way some of the most UN-American people have co-opted the American flag as the symbol of their unpatriotic beliefs. They are the ones who stormed the Capitol, who want to overturn the results of a legitimate Presidential election...and if they had their way, they'd have a fascist dictatorship instead of a democracy. They are also talking about civil war if they don't get to re-instate their leader, who legitimately lost the election. These people proudly wave our flag and refer to themselves as "patriots."

SE: Yeah, I'm pretty sure he did, but I'd have to read up on the details.

JD: he avoided getting drafted to go to Vietnam by having a family doctor say he couldn’t fight because of “bone spurs”. He’s ridiculous

DL: well there was a draft and you would go to jail if you didn't report, but unlike Vietnam you were fighting for the planet, so many wanted to join the fight! the way we treat our all volunteer veterans it's hard to believe we even have a military at all !!
