I heard a story today from someone I know from Central America. She spoke of a relative who was detained in an ICE Camp for 8 months and then deported. This person was 36 years old and died within weeks of returning to his country of a HEART ATTACK. We know of some of those detainees who died in ICE detention and some who died shortly after being released. The pictures of some of them are here. (Some of their stories are available at uusf.org/hrwg, or the QR code). We know that conditions in the camps are horrifying—rotten food, contaminated water, brutal treatment, isolation. What we don't know is the full extent of the fatal result of this treatment.
