LSD: Completely Personal speech delivered to the 1996 Worlds of Consciousness Conference in Heidelberg, Germany by Dr. Albert Hofmann One often asks oneself what roles planning and chance play in the realization of the most important events in our lives. With respect to a given event, this involves the question, just how much was destiny, how much free will? This question has preoccupied me again and again in relation to one of the most significant and consequential events in my life in relation to the discovery of LSD.

At about the same time [as the invention of LSD] nuclear energy became technically usable and the atomic bomb was developed. In comparison to traditional energy sources and weapons, a new dimension of menace and destruction became accessible. This corresponded to the potency-enhancement realized in the field of psychopharmaka, something like 1:5000 or 1:10,000-fold, comparing mescaline to LSD.

One could make the assumption that this coincidence might not be accidental, but rather was brought on the scene by the "Spirit of the Age." From this perspective the discovery of LSD could hardly be an accident.

One might reflect on a further idea, that LSD might have been predestined by some higher power to arise precisely at the time when the predominance of materialism with all its consequences over the past 100 years was being understood. LSD as an enlightening psychopharmakon along the path to a new, spiritual age!

But then in real life you notice that the cops are often insanely horrible people... Did you know? That the movie The French Connection was based on a real case... And all of the heroin was stolen from the police station evidence Warehouse and sold by policemen... 100% corrupt...

And the TV news brainwashing is evident on every channel... Fox, CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS and NBC... Did you notice that there's endless discussion about the kidnapping of Savannah Guthrie's mother... Old people vanish quite often... Everyday Old people leave the house and wander around Outdoors lost in a dementia Haze... But this particular story has gotten a lot of attention because the woman is so incredibly beautiful... There was a story about four college students in Idaho that were murdered and just by coincidence they happen to be stunningly beautiful...
