Let's use The Bark from Redwood Trees to Prevent Weeds instead of RoundUP! We use Bark in our garden and it works great. AND! It doesn't kill people... It's a One Time Cost for the Farmer and the Money is Kept within the State of California... Currently, a Giant Barge of Redwood Bark and wood chips Leaves Eureka, California Every Week headed for China... We also ship entire logs... They don't want the logs sawed up into boards because they have their own sawmills... and it's cheaper to employ Chinese Slaves to do the Work. 

 Farmers have to pay for RoundUP every year and The Costs of all those Lawsuits MUST be passed on to the Farmers and the people that buy the Food. AND! We Eat That Poison! We could have healthier Food if we just used Redwood Bark and Wood Chips to Prevent Weeds.

 BIOMASS Electric Power Plants Could Dispose of the Millions of Dead Trees in California that are a Fire Hazard. Before we have another Disastrous Wildfire like we had in Paradise last summer, we could remove the fuel from the forests and use it to generate electricity. 

 "The number of biomass plants, another option for disposing of trees, has fallen to about two dozen from 66 in the 1990s, in part due to the expiration of government price subsidies." - according to the California Energy Commission.
Why not REOPEN those unused BIOMASS plants and clean up our forests before we have a Disaster?

A Robot Took My Job... but I got a New Job at Half the Pay...

I worked as a Pen and Pencil Draftsman until Computer Automated Design [CAD] made me obsolete. I was a highly skilled Designer in the Computer Industry but a Low Paid Employee with a Computer could do more work, so I got laid off permanently. I switched to working as a Retail Sales Clerk at Radio Shack... A job with dramatically less pay or benefits. Then I went to College and got a BS in Computer Science Degree and got a High Paid Job at the County Government working at the Welfare Office determining Eligibility of People for Food Stamps and Medi-Cal... a Job that did not use my degree.

My Autobiography: Growing Up in Los Gatos, California in the 1960s by Gregory Vanderlaan - and Living in San Jose, Washington DC, Chico, Eureka and Orangevale, CA.

I Was Born in 1954. We lived Near the San Jose Airport until they Started Landing Jet Airplanes and We had to move... We went to Los Gatos in 1960. I lived there until graduation from Los Gatos High School in 1972... an Ideal Childhood... FYI: Los Gatos is about 50 miles South of San Francisco on the edge of the mountains between San Jose and Santa Cruz.

I Went to West Valley Jr. College, learned electronics drafting and got a job at System Industries in Santa Clara... I feel blessed that not only did I grow up in a great location but I also grew up at a great time. I missed the Vietnam War by ONE Year and Silicon Valley Was Hiring Like Crazy When I Needed a Job.
