The main product is oil, but most wells also yield natural gas that has few local markets, storage options, or pipelines. Much of that natural gas is flared.  What we have here is an immense and startlingly new oil and gas field — nighttime evidence of an oil boom created by a technology called fracking. 

 Those lights are rigs, hundreds of them, lit at night, or fiery flares of natural gas. 

 One hundred fifty oil companies, big ones, little ones, wildcatters, have flooded this region, drilling up to eight new wells every day on what is called the Bakken formation. Altogether, they are now producing 660,000 barrels a day — double the output two years ago — so that in no time at all, North Dakota is now the second-largest oil producing state in America. Only Texas produces more, and those lights are a sign that this region is now on fire ... to a disturbing degree. Literally.

DC CLIMATE STRIKE – SHUT DOWN BUSINESS-AS-USUAL... Youth leaders from around the world have called for a climate strike and global week of action from September 20th-27th. They have been taking the lead so far, but now they are calling on all of us to take action. In Washington, DC we will be answering the call and building on the momentum of the youth climate strikes in a major way:

We will block key infrastructure to stop business-as-usual, bringing the whole city to a gridlocked standstill. The casino-owning couple and perennial super-spenders Sheldon and Miriam Adelson set a new record for donations from individuals in a single election cycle, giving $172.7 million.

The 2020 election cycle is projected to cost a record-smashing $11 billion. So far, an unprecedented amount, $2 billion, comes from outside spending groups, which can receive unlimited funds from wealthy billionaires like the Adelsons. The couple gave $170 million in outside spending this year. As they have for 30 years, all their donations went to Republicans and conservative groups.

When Dr Miriam Adelson was awarded the US Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s top civilian honor, by Donald Trump in November, the public response ranged from disdainful to “who?” Her husband, the casino billionaire Sheldon Adelson, is widely known for his record donations to Republican causes, as well as passionate support for conservative Israeli interests. Many news articles about the award described Miriam solely as his wife.

But Miriam’s influence has been deeper than many credit, although she appears to have been perfectly comfortable remaining in her 85-year-old husband’s shadow until recently.

The 73-year-old has played a pivotal role in forming the couple’s interests and alliances in the US, where she is a naturalized citizen, and in her native Israel, according to public records and interviews with people who know her socially and professionally. Evidence suggests that she is the driver in the couple’s political and philanthropic activities, whether pushing for the relocation of the US embassy to Jerusalem from Tel Aviv or donating an unprecedented $113m to this year’s midterm elections

“Everybody says it’s Sheldon, but it’s Miriam,” says Michael Cherry, the associate chief justice of the Nevada supreme court, who sits on the board of the Las Vegas methadone clinic that the Adelsons founded.

The foundation is divided into two branches, including the Adelson Family Foundation, which was established in 2007, and the Adelson Medical Research Foundation. The former works to strengthen the State of Israel and the Jewish people,[2] while the latter focuses on healthcare.[3]

Miriam Adelson (born 10 October 1945) is an Israeli American physician. After her marriage to American business magnate Sheldon Adelson in 1991, she became a donor to conservative political causes in the United States and Israel. They donated to the Donald Trump 2016 presidential campaign, his presidential inauguration, his defense fund against the Mueller investigation into Russian interference and the 2020 campaign.[2][3][4][5][6][7]

She is the current publisher of the newspaper Israel Hayom.[8][9][10]

Miriam and Sheldon Adelson were presented with the Woodrow Wilson Award for Corporate Citizenship by the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars of the Smithsonian Institution in 2008.[11] In 2013, she received honorary citizenship of Jerusalem.[12] She was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by Donald Trump in 2018.

I Was Born in 1954. We lived Near the San Jose Airport until they Started Landing Jet Airplanes and We had to move... We went to Los Gatos in 1960. I lived there until graduation from Los Gatos High School in 1972... an Ideal Childhood... FYI: Los Gatos is about 50 miles South of San Francisco on the edge of the mountains between San Jose and Santa Cruz.

I Went to West Valley Jr. College, learned electronics drafting and got a job at System Industries in Santa Clara... I feel blessed that not only did I grow up in a great location but I also grew up at a great time. I missed the Vietnam War by ONE Year and Silicon Valley Was Hiring Like Crazy When I Needed a Job.
