I get so frustrated by people - mostly Trump - accusing the left of political violence when there is NO evidence of political violence from the left, while there is PLENTY of evidence of political violence from the RIGHT. Here are some examples:
Back in April a right-wing nutjob set Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro's house on fire. Thankfully he and his family got out in time and they were safe. But the left did NOT call for any violence in retaliation for the attack.
In June, Mark and Melissa Hortman were assassinated by a right-wing nutjob. Barely a mention of it from the right, because the Hortmans were Democrats, so the right is okay with them being murdered in cold blood. Crickets from the president. The left did NOT call for any violence in retaliation for the attack.
A few years ago, a right-wing wacko attacked Paul Pelosi with a hammer, and would have also attacked Nancy Pelosi if she had been there. Did the left call for retaliation or violence? Absolutely NOT.
The other day, Charlie Kirk was killed by a right-wing extremist. The right is calling for retailiation and violence against the left, even though the left did not commit the murder. The right is talking about violence. The left is not, and the left did not talk about violence after violent acts were committed against their own.
The left frequently talks about UNITY on both sides. The right does not. The current president constantly stokes further division. Even in the wake of the murder of Charlie Kirk, and even with the knowledge that the guy was a right-wing extremist, the president is still calling for retaliation against the LEFT.
Joe Biden never talked about violence or retaliation against the right. Obama never talked about violence or retaliation against the right. If Kamala Harris had been elected, she would not be calling for violence or retaliation against the right. All three of them spoke of UNIFYING the country, bringing us back to being the UNITED States of America.
Why does the right hate the left so much? Why is the right so determined to stay divided? Why is the right perfectly okay with violence directed at the left? It was never like this in the past. It isn't supposed to be like this. We on the left just want everyone to have equal rights, to be treated with kindness and respect, to be paid a living wage in exchange for their work, to have access to affordable heathcare, and for people to be able to live their lives without having to worry about being gunned down in a mass shooting. Why does the right hate those things so much that they're willing to commit acts of violence because of it? Those aren't bad things to want for your country. We SHOULD have ALL of those things. We shouldn't be fighting AGAINST those things.
Both sides are absolutely NOT the same. Not even close.
