A Character in the Story Makes Custom Jewelry for a Living... and has a great deal of trouble selling it... The Rulers of San Francisco only like to collect "Authentic" Antique American Products... and there is a Huge Business Creating Fakes that look like the "Real" Thing... For Example: Colt 44 Pistols or Mickey Mouse Wristwatches... 

The Author was using vast quantities of amphetamines... That allowed him to work day and night... 

and eventually it killed him... a stroke and then a heart attack... but first he wrote a LOT of Paranoid Fiction... 

and there is a Book within a Book in this story... 

"The Grasshopper Lies Heavy" - is a Speculative Fiction about What San Francisco would have been like if America Had Won WW2... 

The Author of that book Lived in a Castle High in the Rocky Mountains near Denver, Colorado... a Fortress that could be Easily Defended... But he got too Paranoid about Taking the Tram up there because he thought the Tram Might NOT Stop at His Home but would continue all the way to Heaven... or The Stars...

Reset Social Security Retirement Age to 55.

There are simply not enough jobs to be filled by people looking for work. If we reduced the quantity of people looking for work by re-setting the social security retirement age to 55, we would solve the unemployment "crisis". When I was young, everyone retired at 55. Every year the age has crept up... Now it's 62. a few years from now it'll probably be 64, then 66, 68, 70, 73, 78... how high can we count? It seems that retirement is always a few years away and constantly receding...

For Thanksgiving, We had Roasted Chicken... from a little grocery store near home called Murphy's. Organic Free Bird... Frankly, not as good as the GMO that Safeway sells. Hooray for Biotechnology... designing FrankenChickens that are tasty. I'm totally in favor and in flavor of Genetic Engineering of food. In the 1980's my brother and I went to a trade show and ate a single celled organism that fed on waste... It was great. Not legal to sell in the USA but legal to give away at a trade show for Bio Engineers. 

My dad pointed out that when he was working, the secretaries never got carpool-tunnel sin-drome... Why do they report it now???

Well, they typed on typewriters until their fingers wore out (at about 55) and never complained because they were retired... or never complained because they were afraid of getting fired... Lack of reporting does not mean the problem didn't exist.

So, in order to reduce unemployment and reduce worker's compensation claims... Set Social Security Retirement Age to 55.

If we have a trillion dollars to give away to the bankers, we can spent what's needed to pay the people that have WORKED THEIR WHOLE LIFE.

What Obama Should do now...
Priority #2. Appoint someone INTELLIGENT for Secretary of Interior. 
In Northern California, we have seen the massive fish kill on the Kalamath River due to Federal Idiot Policy. Everyone that had the slightest understanding of salmon and rivers said "Do not send all the water to Oregon Potato Farmers, that will KILL the FISH".
Then the Department of the Interior sent the water to Oregon and millions of Salmon died. Classic cause and effect.  So the sport fishermen that used to rent motel rooms on the Kalamath River stopped coming. This caused a great loss of income. The increased profit of Oregon Potato Farmers was totally wiped out by the loss of profit by the Tourism Industry. By a ratio of 10 to 1.
So, due to IDIOT policy by the Dept of Interior, both Oregon and California lost a lot money and millions of fish died...We told them not to do it, but then they went and did it and everyone suffered. GEE, that's the story of the Iraq war too!
Priority #1. Stop spending money on BOGUS wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Pakistan and Humboldt Nation. Save American Soldiers Lives. Get U.S. out in 2009.
