I don't own a car but I take Lyft whenever I need to go someplace and I've noticed that a lot of those Lyft drivers use Electric Cars... Mainly because charging the battery cost less money than purchasing gasoline...  

I see a new design for an air conditioner uses an internal battery that charges at a time when electricity is cheaper and then uses it to cool the house when demand is high in the hot afternoon...

The price of electricity varies according to time of day and demand... That's why those Lyft drivers charge the cars up all night long... And then drive all day... 

There's a feeling that this Oil Refinery fire will cause the price of gasoline to go up... Using the excuse of supply chain problems... Actually the price of gasoline can go up at any time using any excuse... The oil companies are in business to maximize profit and any way that they can gouge the consumer is great for the stockholders... 

Many will point to this fire as an ecological disaster and the people living down wind will be experiencing horrible air pollution... But in reality... The people living downwind have been experiencing horrible air pollution for decades... The only difference is that today's ecological disaster involves burnt fossil fuel as opposed to unburnt fossil fuel... 

And over time, if the refinery stays in business, then there are gasoline will be burned in a million automobiles... Year after year after year... But if we shut it down using arson... It's a one-time dump of horrible chemicals in Los Angeles... As opposed to a Daily Dump all over California... 

ExxonMobilShellBPHalliburtonDowDuPont is Just SUPPLYING WHAT CUSTOMERS WANT. It's the BUYING of Gasoline that's Destroying our Planet. It's the BUYING of Plastic... It's the RUNNING of the Air Conditioner...

It's the Farming Marijuana INDOORS using Grow Lights instead of OUTDOORS in the Free Sunshine... STOP THAT! All that Electricity has to come from somewhere and currently that means burning Natural Gas, Coal or Nukes. About Half Electricity is made using Solar, Hydro and Wind but... Half Isn't! If we just USE LESS there is LESS POLLUTION... Less drilling... Less Fracking... Less Plastic in the Ocean... Fewer Giant Flares burning "waste" gas at refineries and Oil Wells... There would be NO NEED to build a Pipeline from Canada to the Gulf of Mexico... #NODAPL...

The Entire Concept of "CITY" needs to be re-done. People drive vast distances to get to their Slave Jobs in Silicon Valley... There is an Alternative. Look at Chico, California. Small Town built around a University. People prefer to Ride Bicycles because Parking is a REAL Hassle... It's entirely possible to live a CARFREE life there... Some people keep a car for use in Emergencies, like Parents who might have to RUSH to the School to Pick up their Kids... But, the bottom line is Vastly Less Gasoline Purchased because even if you drive to work it's a maximum of ten miles.

WHAT IF we stopped living in Cities and Moved out to small towns. All those office jobs could be done in abandoned shopping malls... I remember walking around downtown San Francisco and wondering "What do all these people DO in those Skyscrapers?" They suffer absurd Commutes from Tracy or Sacramento to go sit in a cubical and type on a computer... WELL, Computers Can Be Located Anywhere... I remember that Eureka, California got the Contract to ANSWER THE PHONES and help people apply for Obamacare. All phone work ought to be done in rural USA. Customers HATE talking to people in India to get answers on the Phone. 

We need to END Trump's Crazy Trade War and Put Farmers Back to Work. The Trade War is Literally Killing Americans. Farmer Suicide is Much Higher than it was when Obama was President. 

I remember dumpster diving in Chico, California... We grabbed a Mattress and I put it in the back of my Ford Windstar Cargo Van... Then I magically became a "TURTLE" because wherever I drove, I had my home on my back...

I was waiting for an AA Meeting to start and met a kid who said he could show me where to buy Marijuana. We went to the Dealer's Apartment, Bought a Bag of Weed and... Found a Dumpster with a LOT of free stuff... The College kids often abandon their possessions after the School closes for the Summer...

I remember parking in an Oak Forest near Red Bluff in a high wind and all night the Acorns fell on the roof of the Van...Scary, like a gunshot sound... another time I was driving home from Crater Lake, Oregon and I felt really tired so I pulled off at a Campground on Highway 101 just North of Eureka... It looked Just like the Movie Jurassic Park. That's because the Movie WAS filmed there...

Truly Creepy TV Advertisements... Power Past Impossible Pro Oil Propaganda... Trying to sell the idea that burning Fossil Fuels is Wonderful...

It has become obvious that Renewable Energy is our future but... all those people employed in the Fossil Fuel Industry are fighting for their lives to keep the USA purchasing increasing quantities of Oil and Gas... Their jobs depend on a steady flow of oil out of the ground into refineries and into our gas tanks... and all that plastic crap that is polluting the planet... Plastic does not "go away" ever... and we already see giant swirls of floating plastic in the oceans... an alternative to buying corporate crap is to simply reduce the amount you travel in a car... In my youth it was fashionable to drive all over the USA following The Grateful Dead (an American Rock Band)... really... people (including me) would drive 8 hours or more to attend yet another concert... I'm not making this up... Well, now days traveling places is not really needed anymore... We can travel using the internet to see what's happening on the other side of the planet... It's all this driving around that is causing Climate Change.

Of Course, we all have to drive to work every day... Unless we live close enough to the office to ride the bus... Twice in my lifetime I was able to ride the bus to work. San Jose has great bus/light rail service and so does Eureka, California. One advantage to riding the bus is that you meet people... and become friends with them. In my case I met some women on the bus. I like women and was glad to have their friendship. We would sit in the back and chat for a half an hour every workday. VERY Pleasant...

Quit buying Plastic Crap. I'll say it again... Quit buying Plastic Crap. Just look for an alternative... One thing that is absurd is all the plastic bottles for drinking water... why not drink the water right out of the tap? The answer is that often tap water is poisonous... Well, what we need to do as a society is clean up the water that comes into our homes... really... Remember that showering in poisonous water is as bad for your health as drinking fracked water... and a coke at Taco Bell comes in a plastic cup... why not a waxed paper cup?

another alternative action  is to divest your stock market portfolio of oil and gas investments... Like we divested from tobacco companies... simply call your stockbroker and ask to switch ownership of stock from oil and gas to solar and wind... It's an investment strategy that will win in the long run.
