"Ozone Hole: How We Saved The Planet" tells the largely-forgotten story of the hole in the ozone layer - and how the nations of the world came together to fix it.

Interviewees include Secretary George Shultz, who persuaded President Reagan to phase out CFC chemical production; Professor Mario Molina, who won the Nobel Prize for identifying the CFC problem; Dr James Lovelock whose work inspired Professor Molina to examine CFCs; Dr Jonathan Shanklin, who discovered the ozone hole; Sir Robert Watson who lead the international scientific assessment of the ozone problem.

In September 1987, more than 30 countries agreed to cut the use of CFCs and signed the Montreal Protocol - the world’s first global treaty to reduce pollution. 

In 1990, Margaret Thatcher urged further support for the Montreal Protocol so that CFCs could be phased out completely and developing nations could afford ozone friendly technologies. 

It worked. Today, the ozone hole is showing signs of recovery. We have avoided a future in which unfiltered UV radiation from the sun would cause millions of cases of skin cancer. For those at the heart of the story, the Montreal Protocol shows that it is possible for the world to come together to prevent environmental destruction.

The Entire Concept of "CITY" needs to be re-done. People drive vast distances to get to their Slave Jobs in Silicon Valley... There is an Alternative. Look at Chico, California. Small Town built around a University. People prefer to Ride Bicycles because Parking is a REAL Hassle... It's entirely possible to live a CARFREE life there... Some people keep a car for use in Emergencies, like Parents who might have to RUSH to the School to Pick up their Kids... But, the bottom line is Vastly Less Gasoline Purchased because even if you drive to work it's a maximum of ten miles.

WHAT IF we stopped living in Cities and Moved out to small towns. All those office jobs could be done in abandoned shopping malls... I remember walking around downtown San Francisco and wondering "What do all these people DO in those Skyscrapers?" They suffer absurd Commutes from Tracy or Sacramento to go sit in a cubical and type on a computer... WELL, Computers Can Be Located Anywhere... I remember that Eureka, California got the Contract to ANSWER THE PHONES and help people apply for Obamacare. All phone work ought to be done in rural USA. Customers HATE talking to people in India to get answers on the Phone. 

We need to END Trump's Crazy Trade War and Put Farmers Back to Work. The Trade War is Literally Killing Americans. Farmer Suicide is Much Higher than it was when Obama was President.

The Environmental Protection Agency on Thursday said it would not ban chlorpyrifos, a pesticide used for killing insects, citing a lack of scientific evidence and drawing ire from environmental groups that say it could cause harm to the children of women who are exposed to the pesticide when pregnant. 

While the agency banned the indoor use of chlorpyrifos in 2000, the chemical is still widely used in the agricultural industry to protect crops, especially corn, from insects. The pesticide, which is produced by Corteva, an agricultural chemical company formerly part of DowDuPont, and goes by the brand names Dursban and Lorsban, is also regularly used on golf courses to kill worms, fire ants and other bugs.
