A sitting U.S. president who can’t stop attacking black and brown people. A never-ending trade war that has necessitated more than one multibillion-dollar farm bailout. A humanitarian crisis on the border of his own state. These are just a handful of the many issues that Senator Ted Cruz could be focused on. Instead, he’s currently devoting his efforts to a much more important cause: demanding another tax cut for the rich, this time without Congress’s approval.

In a letter sent to Steve Mnuchin on Monday, the senator from Texas urged the Treasury Secretary to use his “authority” to index capital gains to inflation, a move that would almost exclusively benefit the mega-rich. Claiming, falsely, that the United States economy “has experienced historic levels of growth as a result of Congress and the current administration’s policies such as the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act,” Cruz insists that it is now crucial for the Treasury Department to adjust capital gains for inflation “so that everyday Americans can continue to enjoy better lives and livelihoods.” And by “everyday Americans,” he of course means (but doesn’t say) the spectacularly wealthy.

Missing from Cruz’s call for Mnuchin to use “executive authority” to end this “unfair” treatment of taxpayers, which was signed by 20 of his Republican colleagues, is the fact that, according to the Penn Wharton Budget model, a whopping 86% of the benefit of indexing capital gains to inflation would go to the 1 percent (and reduce annual tax revenue by an estimated $102 billion over a decade). Perhaps seeking to address this criticism, Cruz claimed that changing how capital gains are taxed “would…unlock capital for investment, increase wages, create new jobs, and grow the economy, benefiting Americans across all income levels.” In other words, he’s arguing that the executive branch should give the super-rich another tax cut and it’ll benefit everyone because of trickle-down economics which—checks notes—has never actually worked. Including in the case of the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.

One thing I really Liked about Jerry Garcia's Playing was the Use of an Envelope Filter Pedal. That's an Automatic Wah-Wah with the Center point of the Band Pass Filter set by the Volume. Louder=Higher. SO, it's like playing thru a Wah-Wah with Magic Feet...

I can't think of anyone else that uses an envelope filter on a Guitar. Many Bass Guitar Players use one for Funk Music. It makes the Bass Go Quack. 

I certainly did not use one with my own Electric Guitar. My Favorite was two Phase Shifters in Series followed by two Digital Echo Boxes in Series... This required that I sit down while playing because I had my feet on the two Morley Phase Shifters. Swinging the footpedals back and forth to give an unpredictable phase shift angle... Normally people use ONE Phase Shifter and it makes the sound go UP and then DOWN and then Back UP again and again and again... YES, it does make the guitar sound EPIC but TWO in series... was my thing... and all that echo allowed for dozens of repetitions on every note... and I often used my Pinkie to Rotate the Volume Knob on the Guitar to Swell the Sound... Like a Delayed Attack on a Synthesizer... 

A trick I invented was to drill a hole into the plastic time knob and insert a long screw... that way I was able to move the length of time in the echo box with my foot... One of the other guys in the band satirized me  about using two Phase Shifters saying: "What are You Doing, Playing Guitar or Driving a Truck?" Often in our Jam Sessions I would be playing One note at a time to DANCE BACKWARDS while the Main Guy played improvisational Synthesizer Jazz... He never told us what key he was paying in... but would just make interesting Noises and I would just do something that was appropriate... and if I played something that sounded horrible because it was in a different key, I would pretend that it was a GRACE NOTE and move my fingers to something More Consonant... Hey, that worked... and I usually did not play the discordant note again... Often I would use a Slide and Pluck a string and move the slide to a pretty sounding note...

I Like Watching Travel Shows on TV. That way, I get to see places without experiencing the Bugs or Heat or Dangerous Natives. For Example: I saw a Long Program about Visiting North Korea hosted by Michael Palen of Monty Python Fame. Never in a Million Years would I go to North Korea... or the Yucatan Peninsula or to the Bottom of the Ocean but... all of those places are available in the Comfort of my Air Conditioned Home... I often am on the Internet Writing Words or Drawing Pictures while looking at the Erupting Volcano or Whatever... 

It's especially fun to watch the NEWS while typing... One trick I have mastered is turning the volume OFF whenever Trump Speaks. Later on the Talking Heads will tell me what he said... and report LIES... There is NO NEED to Have Trump Actually Pour Poison Into My Ears... 


I always turn off the sound during Commercials. It's actually fun to try and guess what the product is or what it does... Obviously, they Cause Ecstatic Dancing but... I am often Uninformed as to the Disease the Drugs are Prescribed FOR. Take the Drug HUMIRA... That one Evidently Cures Nausea for the Lead Singer in a Grateful Dead Cover Band... I Guess... at least the Guitar Player is Playing a Jerry Type Guitar... and so we return to Jerry Garcia...

My Facebook Group (Things I remember growing up in Los Gatos) has improved my memory... We all post memories of what happened to us as Children. When people talk of events that happened to me, I remember what I was doing and the names of the other people... Some memories had been lost for decades... The first girl I kissed... for example... Now I remember her Name! I wonder if the drugs they advertise on TV actually Improve Memory. In General, those ads are Lies or exaggeration... Practically speaking the best plan for improving health, including Mental Health is to eat right and exercise... This is NOT secret information... I do think it's funny that they advertise PREVAGEN very often and they repeat the name again and again and again. as if they know that their Target Audience is people that have difficulty remembering things! Good Marketing Strategy... Here is a little trick I use. I do all my word processing in NOTEPAD. It does not have a Spell Checker. I have to remember how to spell words... and the words I have difficulty spelling are Flagged as Wrong by the spell checker I use on Google's Blogger... and That spell checker has a very limited vocabulary... I laugh at the Names of People It Does Not Know... after it corrects my spelling many times, I learn... Intelligence has an I after the Double L... etc, etc, etc... 


I wonder if Facebook, Google, Apple, Microsoft and Amazon are actually more powerful than the US Government. Right Now there is a Battle between Big Tech and the Government. Facebook was Fined $5 Billion Dollars but The Stock Price Went UP! by enough to offset the fine! Real People LOVE Facebook and Hate the Government. We the People Laugh at the Old White Men in Congress failing to understand the BASIC Business Plan of Online Corporations... They sell targeted advertising. Little Stevie Munchkin wants an Investigation of Amazon because it wiped out Brick and Mortar Retail Stores. Well, no amount of Investigation will reverse THAT trend. I wanted to buy a Telescope so I could look at the boats going in and out of the Harbor in Eureka. So I went to a Brick and Mortar Store and asked questions, looked at products and the I bought it on Amazon... NO WAY was I going to Pay EXTRA so that retailer could rent a Building and heat it, keep the lights on... ETC... I see that people buy CARS online... well, no high pressure salesmen hassling the shopper... I remember shopping for a new can in the 1980s... it was very annoying to deal with those salesmen... trying to trick me into buying stuff I didn't want or need. and then they really screwed me using Chrysler Credit Corporation... Well, forget That. Online Loans, Online Car Dealers. The entire process is MUCH better for the Consumer... and... Jeff Bezos Bought the Washington Post Newspaper so he can influence Public Opinion... Try Fighting THAT you Pathetic TrumpNik!

Worldwide, Google and Amazon are selling machines that listen to speech in your home. It is Marketed as a Way to Search the Web or Buy Stuff using your Voice... It listens 24 hours a day... at least it listens for the word "Alexa?" 

Could these machines be re-purposed as AGGRESSION DETECTORS so they call the Brain Police?

I WONDER if actually outlawing guns would be more effective than listening for gunshots? Isn't it too late then? 

TV Advertising Criticism: INEFFECTIVE - Humira (a drug) makes it very difficult to tell WHAT disease it cures.

The only way to tell is to read the fine print at the very end of the ad that tells the viewer what the website address is... humiraforcrohnes.com - I actually wrote down the URL incorrectly but my AT&T search engine assistant found The right site... and Stelara, a competitor! 

 It must Cure Crones! I didn't learn this until I saw the ad about a hundred times... OF COURSE, I have never actually HEARD the AD and they may have a voice-over announcer explaining what it does... I always MUTE ADS. What I find really interesting is that the Guitar Player seems to be playing JERRY GARCIA'S GUITAR!

I always turn off the Sound when Trump Talks. Why would I allow him to pour poison into my brain?

I also mute advertisements. I don't need whatever they are selling. Sometime I leave the sound off for hours... Unless I'm watching FUTURAMA, Jeopardy! or Ancient Aliens most shows are worthless...  and Free Speech TV... ACT OUT! is Great.

I Feel Good Watching the PBS TV Show Called "Happy for No Reason" by Marci Shimoff and Deepak Chopra's "Seven Spiritual Laws of Success" ... I Feel Bad Watching FOX NEWS. Their Marketing Plan is to Sell Hate. So I Just Don't Watch Them...

One Plan I have is to Never Hear 'Resident Trump Speak on TV. I DO watch the news but always Mute the Sound whenever he is speaking. Why allow Hate to be Poured into my Brain?

I Mute all Commercials and Close my Eyes... Focus my attention on Deep Breathing and Relax... a few moments later, I look to see if the commercials are over... OR... I switch between shows... This works well with CNN and MSNBC News Shows. My TV Remote has a single button that switches back to the last channel...

OFTEN, simply watching FUTURAMA Reruns is better than anything else on TV. I also love The Simpsons.

It is wonderful to watch Travel Shows because I get to Observe those places without experiencing HEAT and BUGS and Snakes and WEIRD PEOPLE... I see that In India they Put Dead Bodies on Boats, Set them on FIRE and then GO SWIMMING... That's an OBVIOUSLY STUPID THING TO DO... I was glad to watch a Travel Show about Water Pollution of the Ganges River... That's a place that is NOT on my Bucket List.
