Brief History of the Vietnam War. 58,000 Americans Died for Nothing... Something They Don't Teach in School Now... "Too Controversial"

While the Vietnam War did involve a draft, the majority of soldiers who served in Vietnam were volunteers... Why? Brainwashing? Mind Control? Project MK Ultra?

During the 1950s Americans went into a Mad Panic about Communists taking over the world. We built thousands of Nuclear Missiles and Fallout Shelters. The US Congress had witch hunts (Joe McCarthy-HUAC) to expose "Commies" who worked in The Hollywood Movie business and blacklisted folksingers that were leading our young people astray with Labor Union Organizing songs.

During the height of this hysteria Vice President Richard Nixon went on Television and explained "The Domino Principle" while pointing to a map of Asia. His theory was... if we did not prevent Vietnam from becoming Communist, one by one those countries over there would turn Commie and soon Commies would take over the Entire World and We Would be fighting them at Our Border With Mexico...  Communism Would threaten the American Way of Life Right Here at Home!

During the height of this hysteria Vice President Richard Nixon went on Television and explained "The Domino Principle" while pointing to a map of Asia.

Dominos was a Family Game popular before the invention of Computers and Video Games... Since "Everyone" Knew what they were... the US Government Named our Foreign Policy for that Game... Because It Made the Policy Easy to Understand...

President Eisenhower and Kennedy sent advisors to help the South Vietnamese soldiers fight the North Vietnamese soldiers.

HEADLINE: Northern California prison to close, cutting 1,000 jobs from rural community... Gov. Gavin Newsom’s administration announced plans to close a state prison in rural Lassen County next year, shutting down a site that employed more than 1,000 people and served for decades as a home base for inmate firefighter training.

The announcement follows a long decline in the number of inmates in state custody that accelerated when the coronavirus pandemic hit, compelling the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation to quickly draw down its population.

The California Correctional Center in Susanville will close in June 2022, the department announced Tuesday. The 2,064 inmates currently housed there will be transferred to other facilities “based on their housing, custody and rehabilitative needs,” according to a department statement.

The conformism of the 1950's was blown away when LSD became widely available. Owsley made the chemical and made it available at Acid Tests with Ken Kesey and the Grateful Dead. He also gave it to the Beatles for their Magical Mystery Tour. The spirit lives on in a yearly camping trip called The Rainbow Gathering. It's like Woodstock but the performers are not paid and I'm in the Band.

Rainbow Gathering Idaho 2001: A Gathering of the Tribes...
I went to the gathering with a specific goal in mind. I wanted to play my guitar and sing in public. Yes, mission accomplished. I was Living in Chico, California and working at the plastics factory. When there was a layoff, my wife suggested that I borrow the car and drive over to the gathering. Grateful Deadhead ART and MyStory... American History...

I first noticed the Grateful Dead in 1968 in English class at junior high school. Our teacher had put up posters on the wall of the classroom and we wrote essays about them.

He was attempting to stimulate creative WRITING but more importantly,
creative THINKING.

One was an American flag made out of swastikas and another was a solarized/negative photo of 5 hairy men standing in front of "LITTLE BOXES" type suburban tract homes.

Our English teacher
stopped working for the school system that year and has never been heard of since. That has happened often to people that go to see the Dead... They change their lifestyle and start associating
with a different set of people...

Rainbow Gathering in California 2004. Photographs and My Story...Om...

What IS the Rainbow Gathering? To me, it is Woodstock with amateur musicians and I’m in the band… Thousands of people go backpacking for a couple of weeks… Every year during the end of June and the beginning of July… The location is different every year but it is always in a National Forest… It’s an intentional temporary village…

This is a description about my trip to The Rainbow Gathering in California 2004… I wrote this to help me remember… READ MORE:

I spent 6 years working at Radio Shack as a commissioned salesman... So I know capitalism from the inside... "We're not in the radio business, we are in the making money business." and yet I made a great deal of positive difference in people's lives by getting them the right electronic product and helping them out... Helping people... Just for example: I had a regular customer that came in once a year and bought hundreds of hearing aid batteries that he mailed to his mother in Czechoslovakia... Evidently it's difficult to buy hearing aid batteries there...

Legacy of Great Humans ·

Long after sunset on the coast of Maine, a history professor opens her laptop and begins to write. While news alerts flash and political arguments fill television and social media, her room stays quiet. She focuses on facts, context, and history instead of panic.

Her name is Heather Cox Richardson. She teaches nineteenth century American history at Boston College. Her research covers the Civil War, Reconstruction, and the American West. She has spent years studying times when the United States faced deep division and danger. She reads original letters, speeches, and records that show how democracy has been tested before.
In 2019, during the first impeachment inquiry of President Donald Trump, she started posting late night explanations on Facebook. She described current political events and connected them to real historical patterns. Readers responded quickly. They wanted calm, fact based context instead of loud opinion.
She later moved her writing to Substack and created a nightly newsletter called Letters from an American. Each evening she writes an essay of about 1200 words. She explains what happened that day and why it matters, using verified sources and historical comparison. By the end of 2020, she had become the most successful individual author on Substack and was on track to earn about one million dollars a year from subscriptions. In 2021, Boston Magazine named it Best Pandemic Newsletter.
Today more than 2.6 million people subscribe. That daily reach is larger than many newspapers, even though she writes alone after teaching her classes. Her readers say the newsletter helps them feel grounded and informed during confusing times.
In 2023, she published the book Democracy Awakening: Notes on the State of America. In it, she argues that modern political shifts did not appear suddenly. She traces them across about seventy years of party strategy, race politics, religion, and corporate influence. Her point is that understanding the long build up helps citizens respond more wisely now.
She has interviewed President Joe Biden and co hosted the podcast Now and Then with historian Joanne B. Freeman. Time magazine has listed her among influential creators. Even with national recognition, she continues to live in Maine on land connected to her family since the late eighteenth century. Her husband Buddy is a lobsterman and photographer. She often writes surrounded by reminders of the past she studies.
Her message is steady and evidence based. Democracies have faced serious threats before. Outcomes are not fixed. Citizens matter. Participation matters. History shows both failure and courage. The future depends on what people choose to do next.
Each night she writes so readers can begin the next day with knowledge instead of fear, and with context instead of noise.

What If Gen XYZ Takes Over the Government. Throws OUT all the Old People and Elects a New Generation to Lead... This HAS to Happen Eventually... What About NOW?

I Don't Know the Names of any Young People Except: David Hogg & Emma Gonzalez (March For Our Lives)... and He would Make a Great President... But He's only 23 Years Old... and She's 24... They Can't be President YET...
or

David Hogg and Emma Gonsalez of March for Our Lives

Greta Thunberg is also a Powerful Political Leader... But She's Not an American... She Can't be President...

Elon Mush Cannot Run For President Because He was Born in South Africa.

Mark Zuckerberg CAN Run for President. Over 35 Years Old and Born in the USA... Now THAT'S a Scary Thought!

The Only Other Name I Know is Taylor Swift (a Singer/Songwriter) I Wonder IF She would be Interested in Running for Office? She's 33 Years Old so too Young for 2024 but NOT too young for 2028.

and then Darryl Cherney Said:
My heart hurts. As Abby moves to go to middle school in Arcata and her mom has already emptied her place here to be up there with her guy, I look at all the gifts I've given that are being left behind and given away and I am reminded of the love, the big love, that went into each one. Each is a reminder of a moment, a time of happiness long gone. Sometimes I'm made fun of for giving too many presents, but I got that from my mom and I'm fine with it. There's the swimming pool, the playground, all the special furniture, the renovations, the clothes, the two sweet Mother's Day cats left behind (now I've got 5 cats), and so much more. It all hurts to remember the deep love that went behind every action and how it's been discarded. My farm hands are gone and I'm alone with Abby to make do before I move in 2 weeks(!) with our two small dogs half time or more to a good friend's RV in McKinleyville to support her schoolwork while I try to find some one perhaps to look over this place. Oh, I know I'm blessed and privileged to have found an affordable rental and that I have the resources to do all this. At 67 and living out the last third of my life with a lot of unfinished work, this major shift in my world is a lot for my heart to take in and all the while, a lot for my body to do.

and JB Replied:
As a man who has gone through similar changes in his life, I’m right there with you!! I applaud your ability to say here on Facebook…. I’m with you Darryl.. always thought you are a shining star for all of us since I was a teenager, deadhead, hippie, I looked to you for inspiration and guidance.. if there is anything I can do for you lmk?? I’m here on Hawaii.. so not sure but ??? Right?!

and Darryl Replied:
You taught me one important lesson I carry with me and quote to this day. It was about music but it can apply to everything: "give 'em space."

and SC Said:
As one who has lost everything in a forest fire, you find things vanish, but the memories & magic of their being fly within us forever, especially those imbued with love... This world of illusions is a transient place, about letting go of everything, even our lives eventually... Love is really all there is and lasts beyond the boundaries of time & space...

SE Said:
These material things may seem discarded, but I am sure the love isn't. You've poured all of that into her, and I feel quite sure she'll spring no leaks - in fact as she keeps growing, her vessel will enlarge to contain even more. 😉 💚

and JB Said:
There is a plastic Playschool Car sitting next to my garden house. I see it everyday and remember the joy I and m kids had while pushing them around in it. They are now twenty one and twenty three and it's almost hard to believe they grew up so fast. Have some reminders around of those to see and reflect. A favorite of mine are the self portraits they did at Skyfish School that hang in my kitchen...

and then BEAR Said:
Oh man, I can relate. I look back at all we’ve gave and it seems so much a flash in the pan. Me, I’m inundated with stuff. Stuff I’m not sure what to do with. The princess castles and old puzzles are one thing, but the pieces of one’s life are another.
What I think is that the blessings have yet to come. My, how raising children has changed me. I’m still in the throes. Soon we’ll have adult children and it will all change again.
Chin up compadre!

and then QB Said:
Take each hour at a time , moments even n don't sit down , than you will want to retire , sheer tenacity will get you through , fueled with desire of greater for your daughter , an invested father is such a gift , so many cut n run , i have complete faith in you ♥️👊🏽

I oppose Sending ANY US Soldiers to Fight in Israel. I Oppose Spending ANY Money on the Wars in Ukraine OR Israel. Let Those People Over There Fight Their Own Wars. OR NOT!

and now Trump is sending American soldiers to Gaza... And he keeps on giving money to Israel... $4 billion a year... As a matter of fact the USA has been giving money to Israel since 1947... That's insane!

<~~~~~~ (~);-} ~~~~~~>

Long Ago I Posted...

<~~~~~~ (~);-} ~~~~~~>

Biden Plans to Ask Congress for $100 Billion in Ukraine, Israel Aid.

President Joe Biden is considering a supplemental request of approximately $100 billion that would include defense assistance for Israel and Ukraine alongside border security funding and aid to nations in the Indo-Pacific, including Taiwan, according to people familiar with the matter.

WELL... Congress Will NOT Be Funding ANYTHING as Long as The US House is Broken... No Speaker? NO NOTHING!

And IF Ukraine Loses their War and Becomes Part of Russia... The Fighting Will Stop!

END WAR - Photo of a Bomb Blowing Up Gaza

I read that article in the Economist...

Only America can stop the Israel-Gaza war from becoming a bigger catastrophe.

I'm still a believer that the USA should send ZERO Soldiers to fight and We Should Spend ZERO Dollars...

If THOSE PEOPLE OVER THERE Want to Kill Each Other, That's Great. We Have Eight Billion People Alive on Planet Earth and ANY METHOD to Reduce the Population is Good News... War, Famine, Disease, Earthquakes, Floods... WONDERFUL!

This entire Event COULD BE EDUCATIONAL... Suppose Someone Goes to a Techno Pop Music Festival and Instead of Dancing, they Murder 260 People... and then Over 3,000 of their Friends and Neighbors die... WELL... Maybe the Insane Anti- Dancing Freaks might decide to NOT COMMIT MURDER... Could Happen!

I still recommend that Israel NOT DROP ATOMIC BOMBS on Gaza... Sure, That would end the war in ONE MINUTE but... The Fallout might Blow downwind to Israel, Greece, Italy or Spain... and that would be bad.
