Separation from Reason: He maintained that "Scripture must not be adapted to reason, nor reason to Scripture." Spinoza viewed philosophical reason as the true path to knowledge of God-or-Nature, rather than the confused images and mysterious visions found in Revelation. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

Democratic Socialism has a branding problem. It was obvious to me from the very beginning when Bernie Sanders identified with it. And the Right is taking full advantage of it.
To me, and my lifelong understanding of political ideologies, Democratic Socialism is simply being very liberal - nothing more. It's certainly not communism.
Socialism has never meant communism. Its best examples are European countries such as France, where the train and telecommunications, etc., are "socialized" - as in, owned and run by the government. This is not communism either.
Current American vitriolic political rhetoric has twisted these terms into a Bizarro World alt-reality, which has warped the minds of the ignorant and been quasi-legitimized by far-right-wing think tanks like the Heritage Foundation. They have rewritten history to advance their agenda. Now, no one is sure what reality we exist in.
