The REAL Reason I won't be going to the Concert is... I'm too old... Walking a city block is exhausting and I have to sit down... a major adventure is beyond me... The Price is not too high when I consider that Hotel Rooms are VERY Cheap!

What's bad about being Old is: The Rainbow Gathering will be in California this summer and the Idea of a Long Hike and sleeping outdoors is no longer something I want to do...

First and foremost I am proud to be an American and that the grateful dead originated in the United States of America. I have a college degree in psychology and sociology.in doing so over the years I have learned much about myself as well as the people that surround me. The introduction of the Internet and social media has changed everyones life. As is known change is a constant in this world and we all have to adapt at at one time or another. Yes, I am of the elder generation now but I was young once as were you. I chose to be with the best and wisest people I could meet at dead shows and learned to appreciate the music that feeds us all. As a whole looking at the big picture alot of people still want to experience a dead show because it is a special thing. I respect that. I was blessed to see the band many times front row. I wouldn't trade those memories for anything. I am thankful to feel part of the family. Things have changed. God bless the original members of the band for keeping the fire going. All I ask is that for those newbies to respect the elders who are there truly for the music. It's like a religion. It's not all about the drugs. All comments welcome.

Religion is an existential threat to humanity... because it has been weaponized by those who believe in it. Simply, supporting and believing in it does us no justice in the bigger picture of stewardship of our planet. In fact it holds us back.
Look, the only way out of this is to make it cease to exist. And learn from it. Realize as a populace that it is a form of indoctrination (and therefore brainwashing).
Actually, to me it seems as if religion is already imploding, perhaps with the spread of the abundance of information being passed via the internet. For sure, information is power.
Sometimes I wonder if we will see the discovery of intelligent alien life during our lifetimes. Like out in the open info where no one can deny their existence. Certainly that would be the final nail in the coffin of organized religions, would it not?
'Certainly' may be a reach. Admittedly.
In my mind, the Conservative Movement remains the foremost threat to our democracy and likely our entire future. The climate isn't waiting for us to take ourselves out... it is actively changing before our eyes and we are doing little to change ourselves. It makes us wonder why they would call them Conservatives. They ain't conserving anything other than their dying ideology stemming from systemic racism and religious bigotry. And what we need instead is to move forward and learn how to adapt to what is coming.
There's some certainty in if they win the day though. Because certainly we will never make it if the conservative movement moves takes full control of our government which moves us backwards. We will eventually cease to exist due to our own accord. No, the only way to get through this is to bring truth to the table and vote out those who would have us thrown in prison (just because we vote differently). Vote those out who hide behind the bully (pulpits)... for they are the weak ones.
The most important election of our lifetimes is right around the corner. Definitely resembles good vs. evil in my book (i'm an ex-catholic, recovering).
Bu if we elect rational human beings capable of empathy and critical thinking... who is critical of faith-based philosophies (the cause of so many wars and hardships) - but which can work with the other side a bit - then we stand a chance to see our way through this dark era of the MAGA movement in our country. And perhaps then the world... would follow and revert to more liberal policies which provide safety nets and more thoughtfulness to the climate. And we could tax the churches and use that money to help the local communities and provide shelters to the homeless, with prospects as incentives.
But the ...as evidenced by... examples continue to pop up all around us - on the dailey. And what it really comes down to is we simply need to do more to stop and even reverse the damages we've done to our planet and the species on it.
Enter Science. Because we don't figure shit out by praying.

That would make the Government happy... Right NOW, we are having a National Debt Ceiling Crisis because the Government is Spending More that it Takes in with Taxes... Bubble UP Economics would reverse that trend... The Money Bubbles UP Through Every Layer of Society... With a rising tide, every boat floats! We Tried Ronald Reagan's "Voodoo" Economics and It Has Failed... "People" Say That Bubble UP! Economics WILL MAKE Employers LAY OFF Workers... However... I’d go along with this scenario except that it avoids one glaring problem that blows it clean out of the water: Excessive Human Populations! 

Clean, potable water on much of the planet is gone. Soils are being depleted and poisoned Earth wide, due to the growing need of agriculture/ continuous tillage,( wrong headed) artificial fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides and other ‘cides’ making it less productive and then valueless even for animals.  In all livable areas, the need of more and more housing and the huge profit that motivates farmers to sell their land to housing developers is insane.  The more human s there are to use and manipulate, the more  greedy power hungry bastards move things to benefit the 1%.  Infrastructures are crumbling while more are continuously growing, taking up more and more land.   Economies are failing under the weight of it all, yet their populations keep growing. Where populations have gone down, politicians give incentives to get people to Breed more! Human are nothing but commodities in the big picture, for the greedy super rich.

The elephant in the room is humanity. But arrogant, self-centered, and ignorant humans will not admit, .accept or take on that fact or the challenge.

I remember going to Montalvo - a Fantastic Mansion/Park in Saratoga, CA. We went there often because there was a beautiful lawn and many hippies congregated there and played guitar... etc, etc, etc...

One time a Classmate (who shall remain nameless) and I ate LSD and then hitchhiked to Montalvo. We were relaxing and enjoying the beautiful gardens and the Gazebo that looked like a Grecian Temple when... up drove my Parents! Disaster! Panic! They drove my friend to his home and then we went to our home and ate lunch (I had no appetite because I was Tripping... and MOM Noticed... Danger-Danger...) and then we all saw a Woody Allen Movie (Take the Money and Run) at Century 21. That would qualify as a Bad Trip... 

Another time Mom, Dad and I went to a Hypnosis Seminar. The man used the sound of tinkling keys as a trigger. I don't recall actually getting Hypnotized. I have had a lifelong Desire to learn Self Hypnosis but have had absolutely no success. and no success with Prayer, Meditation or Lucid Dreaming. NOTHING! Supposedly there is some benefit to those practices but I have been totally disappointed... One Out of Body Experience I have had was Playing the drums in a Circle of Friends. I took a Drumming Class at Adult Education in Paradise, CA. We met at night at an abandoned Chinese Restaurant and Played the drums for Hours. Sometimes I thought I saw Ghosts. Actually, Those classes were a High Point of My Life. I attended with a VERY Beautiful Woman who was NOT my wife... Exciting to be with her but TOTALLY off limits... SIGH... 

There is a Very Long trail up the Mountain behind the Mansion. I don't know how long it goes or where it leads...

At Montalvo, I took piano Lessons for a very brief time. In my youth I took Piano Lessons at Home and Hated it. However, I did learn to play... Decades later I had countless hours of fun playing Piano and Synthesizer with friends. We all owned those Analog Machines made by Roland, Korg and Yamaha... and drum machines... Those machines allowed up to create "Outer Space" fifties Science Fiction Soundtrack "Music" - or more accurately described, Noise... a lot of Whoosh Whoosh and space ships taking off sounds. Big fun with a home made Laser Lightshow and a bag of weed. I inherited my Family Piano and had it moved to my home in Eureka. It's an Upright with Excellent sound. Often I would take the front off the piano so I was exposed to the strings and... improvise while holding the pedal down... eventually, all the strings vibrated simultaneously... quite an astonishing sound to listen to while smoking grass. After I retired from work, the State of Oregon Legalized Marijuana and I drove there every two weeks and bought an Ounce. One entire winter in Eureka. Then in the Spring, I decided to take a Driving Vacation to the Deserts of Nevada and SoCal... I left the weed at home because whenever I go camping in my Van I meet the Police and at that time Marijuana was Illegal in California and Nevada... anyway, I remained Stoned for A Month! Without Smoking at ALL... I went to the Hospital for an Infected Blister on my foot and they said I tested Positive for THC... a MONTH after Stopping Smoking! 

I took my Wife to a Folk Singer Concert at Montalvo. In the Back yard behind the Mansion there is a Stage and amphitheater seating. We saw Janis Ian and 8 other Greenwich Village Type Folk Singers. I can't remember any names and they were all boring... EXCEPT Janis Ian! She was great! She sang her hit song (At 17) but most of the time she played abstract Jazz using Digital Footpedals for Echo, Sampling and Reverb. Quite a talented performer... It especially blew my mind because I owned the Exact same equipment but She really made magic with those machines! We parked the Car at West Valley Junior College and rode a special shuttle bus to Montalvo. Overall, it was just another one of those Husband Events... She really liked Folksingers and I... EH!
