President Trump is using the ICE airport deployments as leverage to pressure Democrats into approving full DHS funding without reforms to ICE operations. He announced the move on March 20-22 as a direct threat tied to the funding standoff, blaming Democrats for the partial shutdown affecting TSA pay.

The Dept. of Homeland Security shutdown is now in its 37th day. Senate Majority Leader, John Thune, reached a deal with Democrats to fund DHS except for ICE. Thune reportedly presented the deal to Trump on Sunday, at the urging of his Senate Republicans colleagues and even White House aides, and Trump REJECTED it.

Trump is to blame for the airport chaos. Not Democrats.
