Cliff Humphrey both drew upon and utterly revised the “Declaration of Independence” to create this crucial founding document of the environmental movement. With its calligraphy, the “Declaration of Interdependence” looked like Thomas Jefferson’s document, and with its syntax it sounded like it too. But Humphrey’s manifesto suggested that the world needed to break with the attractive illusion of “independence” and be governed by a new principle—”interdependence”—if it wished to be aligned with the laws of nature.

Full Text of “The Declaration of Interdependence” 

When in the course of evolution it becomes necessary for one species to denounce the notion of independence from all the rest, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the interdependent station to which the natural laws of the cosmos have placed them, a decent respect for the opinions of all mankind requires that they should declare the conditions which impel them to assert their interdependence.

We hold these truths to be self-evident that all species have evolved with equal and unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

——— That to insure these rights, nature has instituted certain principles for the sustenence of all species, deriving these principles from the capabilities of the planet’s life-support system.

——— That whenever any behavior by members of one species becomes destructive of these principles, it is the function of other members of that species to alter or abolish such irrelevant behavior and to reestablish the theme of interdependence with all life, in such a form and in accordance with those natural principles that will effect their safety and happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that cultural values long established should not be altered for light and transient causes, that mankind is more disposed to suffer from asserting a vain notion of independence than to right themselves by abolishing that culture to which they are now accustomed.

——— But when a long train of abuses and usurpations of these principles of interdependence, evinces a subtle design to reduce them, through absolute despolation of the planet’s fertility, to a state of ill will, bad health, and great anxiety, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such notions of independence from other species and from the life-support system and to provide new guards for the reestablishment of security, and maintenance of these principles. Such has been the quiet and patient sufferage of all species, and such is now the necessity which constrains the species homo sapiens to reassert the principles of interdependence.

——— The history of the present notion of independence is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations all having in direct effect the establishment of an absolute tyranny over life. To prove this let facts be submitted to a candid world.

——— 1. People are proliferating in such an irresponsible manner as to threaten the survival of all species.

——— 2. People have refused to recognize that they are interacting with other species in an evolutionary process.

——— 3. People have fouled the waters that all life drinks of and they have fouled the air that all life partakes of.

——— 4. People have transformed the face of the earth to enhance their notion of independence from it and in so doing have interrupted many natural processes that they are dependent upon.

——— 5. People have contaminated the common household with substances that are foreign to the life processes which are causing many organisms great difficulties.

——— 6.  People have massacred and extincted fellow species for their feathers and fur, for their skins and tusks.

——— 7.  People have persecuted most persistantly those known as coyote, lion, wolf, and fox because of their dramatic role in the expression of interdependence.

——— 8. People have warred upon one another which has brought great sorrow to themselves and vast destruction to the homes and the food supplies of many living things.

——— 9. People have denied others the right to live to completion their interdependencies to the full extent of their capabilities.

We therefore, among the mortal representatives of the eternal process of life and evolutionary principles, in mutual humbleness, explicitly stated, appealing to the ecological consciousness of the world for the rectitude of our intentions, do solemly publish and declare that all species are interdependent, that they are all free to realize these relationships to the full extent of their capabilities; that each species is subservient to the requirements of the natural processes that sustain all life.

The news has been so bad recently that I intentionally avoid looking at TV Shows like CNN and MSNBC. This week, as a sanity defense, I read a Steven King Book called "Bag of Bones".

Classic ghost story about a fiction author who lives in Maine. Kinda autobiographical I guess. It's a Great Book and totally removes me from what we laughingly call "Reality"...

Reality shows that the more guns we have the more likely hood of gun accidents... Suicides... and what if an Armed Teacher "Goes Postal" and shoots up students and other teachers? Who will pay for all these new guns? We already can't afford to buy basic school supplies like chalk and books... Who will pay for Gun Training? The real solution is LESS GUNS... OUTLAW Assault Rifles and Raise gun ownership age to 21 and increase background checks.
Remember, President Trump signed a Law that makes it easier for mentally ill people to buy guns. People that are getting a Social Security Disability Check for Mental Illness would be allowed to pass background checks. That's what Trump's ACTIONS have been... The exact opposite of his words...

Here in California it is possible to Register to Vote on the Internet. For people that are house-bound this is a way for them to vote by mail. Many old people never go out except to go to the doctor. Many have moved from their family house to an old folks home and need to re-register... Go visit your parents and help them register. This election is extremely important. This weekend Trump PANICS and tweets 13 times about the Trump/Russia Investigation. The tone of these tweets is desperate... Frantic! He blames a wide array of other people for his troubles including, and I'm not making this up, OPRAH Winfrey. He also accuses the FBI of wasting so much time investigating Trump/Russia that they failed to notice warning signs of the Florida High School Mass Murder. This tweet enraged the surviving students. They plan a march on Washington to protest GUN LAWS. AND a Nationwide School Walkout to commemorate the Columbine GUN Massacre. "HEY, HEY, NRA, How many Kids did you Kill Today?" Already there are anti-gun protest marches at the White House with students staging a "Die In". They ought to go to the visitors gallery in the House and Senate and chant, chant, chant... Just like the Disabled People Protests last week. That's an effective way to get the attention of their representatives. Getting arrested on TV is a classic strategy. #NEVERAGAIN
High school students stage ANTI-GUN protest in Florida. Since the government has been bribed by the NRA to keep guns legal it falls to teenagers to rise up in revolt against mass murder by gun. Just like the Civil Rights and Anti-Vietnam War protests of the 1960's, today's youth are leading the country towards a brighter future. While Congress and Trump passed a law that makes it easier for mentally ill people to get guns, kids just don't buy that absurd behavior. How to Prevent Your Own Brainwashing. Avoid listening to people that are trying to influence your beliefs. Stop looking at them also. For Example: On TV there are endless advertisements that are trying to sell you products... simply mute the sound with your remote and close your eyes. Take a deep breath and say your mantra... Then after a minute, look at the TV to see if your show has started. My Favorite Mantra is [Inhale]...Be...[Exhale][Inhale]...HERE...[Exhale][Inhale]...NOW...[Exhale] and when you say the words contemplate the meaning of each of them...in deep introspection... Meditation is MUCH better than listening to someone telling you to buy cars, booze or Doctor Pills. With enough repetition, people BELIEVE what they are told. 
Some TV shows are pure propaganda and should be avoided entirely. The Channel called "RT" tells news from a Soviet perspective. Beware of Fox News and Bright Bart Simpson Blog. They are blatantly promoting lies that support The Republicrime Agenda and the wishes of the Super Rich. Their marketing strategy is to tell viewers what they want to hear. In a world where people actually voted for Trump we can see that brainwashing actually works. We CAN NOT WIN The War in Afghanistan. We have been fighting there for 16 years and there is no end in sight. The local people beat The British, The Russians and now the USA. We have no mission, no goal, no excuse and absolutely NO EXIT PLAN. Our original Mission was to Kill Osama bin Laden but he is dead. [Thank You, President  Obama] For some unknown reason we still are at war there. WTF? We could save a Fortune in Money and Human Life if we simply got out. Surrender or Declare Victory and GTFO... Just let those people over there solve thir own problems... Of Course, we could fight there for another 16 years and then surrender but what would be the point? I've spoken to many Soldiers that have come home and none know why we are there and many have PTSD... Pointless Suffering... Real Americans who were victims of our crazy Military Industrial Complex... According to one author, DARPA has invented drugs that make soldiers BRAVER, more COURAGEOUS... More willing to fight... I believe that these drugs are what have caused so many veterans to commit suicide after they come home. It's a side effect of the psychoactive warrior enhancement drugs. Never before in history have there been so many veteran suicides as the survivors of the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars. Like many drugs, while the soldiers were actively taking them they work as designed but after they stopped... watch out for serious side effects... like suicide.
