What I really like is watching many episodes in a row... It puts me in a Hypnotic Trance... So Far I have not contacted any Aliens Myself but... one time I was driving home from work in Northern Virginia and I saw TWO Lights in the Sky at Sunset... I chased the lights and when I got near , I got out of the car and... Heard the motorcycle engine... so disappointing... someone had installed a propeller and an engine to a hang glider and what I saw was two automobile headlights.

One of my co-workers' Father saw a UFO. He worked as a pilot and reported an unidentifiable object in the sky... he filed a report with the FAA and they filed the report... and... nothing happened. I assume that there are thousands of reports... but... what can anyone really do about them?

On the TV News I saw a real ufo as viewed on the cockpit display and... millions of people saw that report... but... once again, nothing really happened... no mass panic...

Science Fiction Themes in Rock Music Lyrics: Wooden Ships, After the Gold Rush, Longer Boats are coming.

It is very difficult to write a song about UFOs or a Post Apocalypse Techno Industrial Wasteland but Cat Stevens, Neil Young, Bowie and Paul Kantner have done it well.

What are those songs about anyway? Some lyrics have been debated for decades... here is my interpretation.

Wooden Ships tells the story of two people from opposite sides of a war that become friends and survive due to cooperation. After an Atomic War, food is often radioactive... so the sharing of purple berries makes the difference... the survival of the human race. Lucky for us, this song was recorded by BOTH the Jefferson Airplane and Crosby Stills and Nash. Done during the time they all worked in the Mansion on Fulton Street. The house had a recording studio in the basement... and was THE SCENE.

MKULTRA: was a CIA Mind Control Project in the USA during the 1950's and 1960's. They were looking for a way to use drugs as weapons of war. For example: LSD as a truth serum to aid in interrogation or as a way to simply get the "enemy" to lay down their arms, voluntarily... like, too stoned to fight...

The project conducted tests on college students at Stanford University. Ken Kesey and Robert Hunter both volunteered to eat LSD and other mind control drugs and report on the effects. Later, Ken started having "ACID TEST" parties where the participants took LSD and danced to the Music of the Grateful Dead. Robert Hunter wrote lyrics for the Dead.

as you observe your body, your mind seeps thru the ceiling... and you see the world...

On the shore of a lake a spiral of deadheads dance around a fire...

the flickering light appears to be perfectly synchronized to the rhythm of the drums...

alas...the reversal of entropy is merely an illusion...

a dancer reaches into the shadows and lifts a five gallon can of gasoline...

it is tightly sealed... he places it on the fire... and they all move back...

it will take time for the gas to expand enough to burst the can...

Meanwhile, a slender woman with strawberry blond hair raises a conch shell to her lips and draws a deep breath.

While listening to Psychedelic Researcher Michael Pollan talk at a Bioneers Conference, I Came to the Realization that I had NO IDEA AT ALL about what he was talking about... He recently studied using LSD and Psilocibin to relieve anxiety in People that were Facing Death. [Terminal Cancer Patients] He interviewed people and Took a couple of Trips Himself before writing his book... He took a large dose of Magic Mushrooms and listened to gentle music on headphones while wearing covers over his eyes... He had a "Guide" that took care of him... She helped him find the bathroom and changed the records on the record player but DID NOT do any of that Timothy Leary Style Talking, Guiding the Tripper thru the Tibetan Book of the Dead... or ANY Yadda-Yadda instructions... She was there to keep the Tripper Calm in case of Panic Attacks...

He spoke of EGO DEATH... Where there was an experience of "Himself" dissolving and turning into a fountain of "Post It" Notes... and then HE dissolved into a Liquid and Flowed Over an Imaginary Landscape... His technique reminded me of the work of Dr. John Lilly and his Isolation Tank. The basis for the Movie "Altered States" with William Hurt and Blair Brown. In Lilly's Tank the Tripper Got inside a box that was half filled with warm salty water. No Sights - Completely Dark... No Sounds - Completely Silent... and No Gravity - Your Body was Floating in water that was heated to a temperature that was almost impossible to feel... OK, That's Completely Different... 

Then Michael spoke of Two Paths to Distributing The Psychedelic Experience to the World. One Way was Timothy Leary's Plan... to have as many people as possible take LSD using a Guide and Leary's Guidebook... The other Path was Aldous Huxley's Plan... to Turn On The Elite... To share LSD with Scientists, Artists, Business Leaders, Politicians, Religious Leaders, Writers, Poets, Musicians, TV Talking Heads and Let THOSE PEOPLE rebuild Society using the knowledge they had gained from their Psychedelic Experiences...

What Michael FAILED TO MENTION was what Actually Happened in the Late Sixties and Beyond... Millions of Doses were Sold at Rock Concerts and People Danced to Loud Live Music. For Example: Woodstock... Ken Kesey's Acid Tests... Magically, The Grateful Dead had LSD Salesmen that Followed the Band Around and Sold Drugs in the Parking Lot... Without the Band Knowing Anything At All About it! Supposedly... Some People who did not even LIKE the band would visit the Parking Lot Scene in order to "Score" some LSD that they could take home and sell to their friends... and... The Makers of "Orange Sunshine" gave away thousands of Doses at an outdoor concert where they hired an AIRPLANE to fly over the crowd and throw "Happy Birthday" Cards Out the Window... Each Card had an LSD Pill attached to it... The Brotherhood of Eternal Love was the Organization that made the Orange Sunshine. They were Laguna Beach Surfers that Started Smuggling Hashish inside of Surfboards from Mexico into the USA... Most LSD Trips were UNGUIDED and Most Happened at LOUD ROCK CONCERTS...  Of Course, a person could buy LSD and then Take it home to Trip in a wide variety of Locations... Like Camping in Big Sur or the Sierra Nevada... or Skiing at Tahoe... or at Home with Your Girlfriend/Boyfriend... or Inter-Tubing down a Creek... or Visiting an Art Gallery... or Riding a Roller Coaster at Disney World... or attending an Anti-War Protest March at The White House in Washington DC... 

So, I never took a Guided Trip and Never Had an Ego Death BUT... On the Nights I Dropped Acid at 8 PM... About Dawn I experienced "Enlightenment" or Something... I feel that Psychedelics are... What? A Tool? Like a Telephone that I can Call God on... Or Just An Amazing Amusement Park Ride? Now that I'm 65 Years Old, I find that Remembering Events in my life is not as Accurate or  Complete as it was a Decade ago... I just wrote my Autobiography and Published it on this Blog and... I Find that the Events I Did While High on Psychedelics are MORE EASILY REMEMBERED IN DETAIL while the rest of my life has faded and is kinda blurry... 

One Common Effect is that Everything Seems Significant... Meaning Drips from Every Leaf of Every Tree... Lyrics Seem to Be Speaking DIRECTLY To Me... as if... The Poet Saw Into My Soul... Have You Ever Read Haiku on Acid? POW, the Meaning just Hits Me in a Wave of AH HA! That Eureka!, I Have Found It! Moment...

I Have Noticed a Few Trends... People that have had the Psychedelic Experience are Nice People... In General they are Kind and Relaxed. Rarely do they CHOOSE Careers in Middle Management. In Business there are always  "Corporate-Corporate-Assholes" that LOVE Supervising People... Totally Drunk on Power... and Obsessed with Making Other People OBEY... Acid Heads tend to avoid "Power Trips"... Often selecting Craft type employment where they can do excellent work on their own projects... Carpenters, Computer Programmers, Seamstresses, Bakers, Farmers etc, etc, etc... 

We also tent to be interested in Playing Music, Doing ART and Writing Poetry/Lyrics... 

My Last Trip was in the Late 1990s at an anti-war protest march at the White House in Washington DC. George H W Bush the Father was President and The USA was Defending Kuwait from an Attack by Iraq... We Marched over near the Lincoln Memorial... The Parade Permit was set to Expire at 2 O'Clock... At that time, everyone that was standing in the street was arrested and everyone standing on the sidewalk was free to do whatever we wanted... SO, hundreds of people intentionally selected to be arrested... All of us were faced with a DECISION... Go to Jail to Make a Statement or NOT... There were Police Everywhere, dressed in Nazi Boots and Riot Helmets... I voluntarily Chose to NOT Get Arrested... and Wandered Away... I did get interviewed by TV News and the Next Day my Neighbor said she saw me "Making a Jackass of Myself" on the Evening News... I told her that if She Felt I was Making a Jackass of myself, I Must Have been doing Something Right...

How I meditate. I Lie down in a quiet room and close my eyes. I Look at what I see and pay attention to the patterns behind my closed eyelids.

I Focus on my breathing. Breathe very deeply and constantly.
This causes a great deal of oxygen in the body. Including my brain.
I feel tingling on my extremities, my nose and cheeks.
If they itch, I take a moment to scratch instead of paying attention to the itching...
If I'm breathing thru my mouth, I pay attention to the wind on my tongue and lips.
If I'm breathing thru my nose I can feel wind inside my nostrils and on my moustache.
This technique requires that I pay attention to many things at once.
My Eye-Closed Visuals, My Breathing, The Mantras and The Thoughts flowing thru My Imagination.
In "Real Life", Multitasking does not work. Here it's a technique I use to free my mind...
and visit altered states of consciousness...
Silently say these mantras... changing them at will... Make up new ones as they appear...
When I notice thoughts, I either pay attention to them if they are worthy and try to control their flow...
OR...
I ignore them, send them away and return my attention to my visuals, my mantras and my breathing.
This technique is part of an Idea Mining Practice... Hoping to Harvest New Concepts for Art, Lyrics and Tales...

I lie down and close my eyes in a quiet room. Then I focus my attention on my breathing. Slow deep breaths with a silent verbal statement during each breath. Hyperventilating to increase the amount of oxygen in my brain...

[Inhale] My body is completely relaxed [Exhale] ...  [Inhale] I'm going deeper and deeper into a Hypnotic Trance [Exhale] ... [Inhale] My mind is completely relaxed  [Exhale] ... [Inhale] My body is completely relaxed [Exhale] ...  [Inhale] I'm going deeper and deeper into a Hypnotic Trance [Exhale] ...[Inhale] God... [Exhale] ...  [Inhale] Make me a Channel of thy peace [Exhale] ... [Inhale] Where there is Sickness may I bring Health [Exhale] ... [Inhale] God... [Exhale] ... [Inhale] God... [Exhale] ... [Inhale] God, What should I do with my life? [Exhale] ...  [Inhale] God... [Exhale] ... [Inhale] God... [Exhale] ... [Inhale] God... [Exhale] ...  [Inhale] God, what should I write? [Exhale] ... [Inhale] God... [Exhale] ... [Inhale] God, what should I create in Paint dot net? [Exhale] ...

and then repeat the entire prayer again and again...

Sometimes I ask God What I should write on my Blog... Looking for divine inspiration for these words... seeking a little wisdom to share... Then I type my Ideas into the internet for people to read and share...

other times I ask God What should I do with my Art programs? Looking for basic concepts to express using Potatoshop?

Sometimes I fall asleep and have Colorful Dreams where I go visit an Art Gallery and see Imaginary Paintings...

It is possible to do this style of Meditation while walking. Focus your attention on your breathing, think positive uplifting thoughts and thank God for this wonderful world. Choose your own God to thank. [Inhale] thank you  [Exhale] [Inhale] thank you  [Exhale] [Inhale] thank you  [Exhale] [Inhale] thank you  [Exhale] [Inhale] thank you  [Exhale] Watch where you are going and observe the beautiful flowers and trees... they are your brothers and sisters... Observe the beautiful rivers, oceans and the morning dew on the trees... we are mostly water and it's healing to view water... or swim... Some people find the Mantra "OM" is a powerful word. It rhymes with HOME but it's a word in a language that's not English. Ram Dass recommends Mantras written in Sanskrit but I find that they are confusing... He meditates by repeating "RAM" while paying attention to his breathing... That doesn't work for me because RAM in English stands for Random Access Memory - a computer term or a Brand name of a TRUCK or a male sheep or goat... It doesn't do me any good to focus my thoughts on a BIG TRUCK... SO, I choose my own Mantra... "Thank You" works for me.

If your current God turns out to be a disaster then fire that God and find a different one that works! There are over one million different Gods in Hinduism alone. and... there are Many different Religions or lack of Religions in practice in the world today. Do you worship Money? Is that working out? Do you currently worship Jesus or Allah? Well, those paths work just fine for many people but... if they are leading you to chronic unhappiness then simply stop doing that. Just Stop with the self inflicted punishment and choose something else. What about worshipping a plant or worshipping ALL plants and ALL animals? We are all one big happy family... Try dancing around a campfire at night while playing the drums... Might work!
