This very famous shot of the Grateful Dead was taken 55 years ago on May 1st,1967 in my home town of Daly City on corner of Morton and Simpson Drive, looking southeast.

Almost nothing has changed.

The photograph was made at the height of the "American Cultural Revolution" of the 60's. Five people holding mirrors were used reflecting light on their heads were used to create the lit-up looking faces. Actually, this was the second attempt to make the picture. On the first time around, the police stopped the photo shoot and ran them all off!

It was made into a poster and distributed around the country. It had a strong impact, and became an icon of the time and set in the minds of American young people a sense of the movement that was taking place in California.

All of this is an Alternative to Watching TV News. It's all so depressing and I've concluded that My Knowing about What they are Talking About is of NO Value in My Life.

Every News Story: "People Far Away From Here Are Behaving Crazy and Therefore Their Lives Suck. Not Only That, But Their Neighbor's Lives Suck TOO."

How Could that Knowledge Possibly be Important to Me? I'm Just Glad that the Crazy People are Far Away! Everything is Pretty Good Here...

On the Other Hand... Here are a Few Words about Spicy Indian Food... and Where to GO!

This is an Indian dosa. I don't remember exactly which one I ordered, but the restaurant was vegetarian. I wasn't familiar with any of the choices on the menu, so I decided to be adventurous and just randomly pick one, since I love Indian food. The guy working there said that my choice was a good choice. I wish I could say that I love it, but unfortunately it's way too spicy. I couldn't even finish it because my mouth was burning so much from the spice. I used to love super hot, spicy foods, but lately I find that I don't enjoy when my mouth is burning and my eyes and nose are watering from the spice. But I definitely want to go back there and try a less-spicy dosa. I've had dosas before, and they're awesome. But next time I'll ask them to recommend one which isn't quite so spicy. I can't remember the name of the restaurant, but if any of my local friends are interested in trying it, it's on Lawrence Expwy in the same strip-mall where the Quarter Note and the Indian buffet are...but the Indian buffet looks like it's no longer a buffet, which is unfortunate, because it was the best Indian buffet in town. But anyway...the dosa place is around the corner from the Indian no-longer-a-buffet and down past the Quarter Note at the other end. It's an Indian market with a little vegetarian restaurant connected to it.

Fortunately, I also got butterscotch ice cream at the Indian market. Butterscotch is my favorite flavor, but butterscotch ice cream is hard to find. And now I'm extra glad I got it, because it will help soothe my burning mouth after eating that dosa!

I'm a mix of both. I do a lot of stuff alone, not always by choice, but I've never had a lot of friends who are available to do stuff with me on the days/times that I feel like doing stuff. So I often just do stuff alone, but it depends on what I'm doing. I enjoy going alone to art & wine festivals and just wandering around and looking at stuff, listening to music, and otherwise doing whatever I feel like doing without having to worry about what someone else wants to do. But there are other activities which aren't fun alone and need to be shared. That's where I often wish I had a friend who is similarly introverted to myself, so we can get together every now and then to do something, but then spend the rest of our time doing our own thing and recharging. Because recharging is huge with introverts. You see me out and about on weekends, but you probably won't see me during the week because that's when I'm recharging for the following weekend.
