Headline: In Baltimore and Beyond, a Stolen N.S.A. Tool Wreaks Havoc... For nearly three weeks, Baltimore has struggled with a cyberattack by digital extortionists that has frozen thousands of computers, shut down email and disrupted real estate sales, water bills, health alerts and many other services.

But here is what frustrated city employees and residents do not know: A key component of the malware that cybercriminals used in the attack was developed at taxpayer expense a short drive down the Baltimore-Washington Parkway at the National Security Agency, according to security experts briefed on the case.

Since 2017, when the N.S.A. lost control of the tool, EternalBlue, it has been picked up by state hackers in North Korea, Russia and, more recently, China, to cut a path of destruction around the world, leaving billions of dollars in damage. But over the past year, the cyberweapon has boomeranged back and is now showing up in the N.S.A.’s own backyard.

N.S.A. Denies Its Cyberweapon Was Used in Baltimore Attack, Congressman Says... BALTIMORE — A Maryland congressman said on Friday that the National Security Agency had denied that one of its hacking tools, stolen in 2017, was used in a ransomware attack on Baltimore’s government that had disrupted city services for more than three weeks.

The statement, made by Representative C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger, came in response to an article in The New York Times last weekend. The Times was told by people directly involved in the investigation in Baltimore that the N.S.A. tool, EternalBlue, was found in the city’s network by all four contractors hired to study the attack and restore computer services.

Investigators are still trying to determine the exact chronology of the attack. The leading theory is that hackers broke in through an open server in Baltimore’s network, installed a back door and then used EternalBlue to move across the city’s computers searching for valuable servers to infect, said the people involved in the investigation.

This week, the contractors discovered an additional software tool, called a web shell, on Baltimore’s networks. They believe the web shell may have been used in conjunction with EternalBlue and another hacking technique known as “pass-the-hash,” which uses stolen credentials, to spread the ransomware.

OFTEN, simply watching FUTURAMA Reruns is better than anything else on TV. I also love The Simpsons.

It is wonderful to watch Travel Shows because I get to Observe those places without experiencing HEAT and BUGS and Snakes and WEIRD PEOPLE... I see that In India they Put Dead Bodies on Boats, Set them on FIRE and then GO SWIMMING... That's an OBVIOUSLY STUPID THING TO DO... Women in Missouri seeking an abortion must now undergo a mandatory, medically unnecessary pelvic exam 72 hours before having the procedure, MSNBC's Rachel Maddow reported Thursday night.

The Republican-led state government enacted the rule last Thursday. This is one of several "targeted laws designed to shut down clinics," Maddow said, "to make it impossible to work as an abortion provider in Missouri, penalties and obstacles that the state government has put in place to try to make it too hard and too expensive and just too awkward and difficult and uncomfortable for a woman to get an abortion if she wants one, despite her constitutional right to do so."

Patients already had to wait 72 hours before having an abortion, and doctors conducted pelvic exams on the day of the procedure. Dr. Colleen McNicholas of Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region and Southwest Missouri told The Rachel Maddow Show this "inappropriate" new initial pelvic exam is "state-sanctioned, essentially, sexual assault." It does not give her any medical information that would help her care for her patient, she said, and for women with a history of trauma, it can open old wounds.

Paul Manafort's Trump Tower condominium was formally forfeited to the U.S. government, according to Thursday court filings. 

The government also seized money in Manfort's Capitol One and Federal Savings Bank accounts, and his Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance policy, court filings show. 

President Trump's former campaign chairman pleaded guilty in September to one count of conspiracy against the United States and one count of conspiracy to obstruct justice by witness tampering as part of special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia investigation. 

The federal government moved on taking possession of Manafort's Manhattan condo last week. 

The 1,509-square-foot condo at Trump's Fifth Avenue property is estimated at $2.5 million, according to the online real estate website Zillow. 

Manafort is incarcerated in a minimum security prison in Pennsylvania after being sentenced to 7 1/2 years earlier this year.
