I find the main Santa Cruz beach to be as hot as hell. I personally prefer foggy beaches. All electric trains in the Netherlands have been powered by wind energy since January 1, 2017

The national railway company, NS, partnered with the energy company Eneco to make this happen.

The wind power comes from new wind farms in the Netherlands and other European countries, including Belgium, Finland, and Sweden.

NS uses 1.2 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) of wind energy a year, which is about the same amount of electricity used to power Amsterdam.

The wind-powered trains carry 600,000 passengers a day, which is 1.2 million train trips with no CO2 emissions

Allow me to preface the following observations with the understanding that I am well aware that friends and family think that I am overly obsessed, one used the term “insane,” that I should just take a chill pill and unplug. I am trying my best, wish I didn’t care, like more than half of the US adult population. As long as I am living and breathing, I will care deeply about the future of this nation. With that out of the way, please indulge some thoughts on billionaires, who have suddenly appeared out of the shadows to the forefront of our daily consciousness.
Something sinister is happening on a global scale involving the world’s billionaire class, not all, but those without scruples and in this country, those who fear retribution, most often both. Marc Zuckerberg, estimated net worth $217.7 billion, is the latest in a line of mega rich to visit Mar A Lago and not only bend the knee but who subsequently enacted sweeping changes to democratic safeguards that will seriously damage our democracy, almost immediately.
Billionaires have learned that the US Supreme Court will accept bribes, maybe less so, now that two justices were exposed. However, they achieved the court imbalance they desired through the Citizens United ruling that makes dark money campaign contributions near impossible to trace, prior to those revelations. The Republican Party and billionaire class will likely maintain control of SCOTUS for at least a generation. I have long contended that, in any form of democracy, to include a democratic republic such as ours, every American should desire a balanced 4-4- 1 Supreme Court, not skewed in either direction, with the outlier being an impartial justice. The average American voting in the 2024 presidential election had virtually no appreciation of the impact of an increasingly extremist 6-3 SCOTUS on their future.
Billionaires are finding it far easier to influence election outcomes by investing dark money into global campaigns through non profits and other cut-outs (e.g. NRA in the US). Foreign actors are willing to partner with them to spread disinformation and corrupt leaders willingly accept that interference with plausible deniability. Steve Bannon is a major player in this facet of the strategy.
Legacy media, in particular, Fox News, led by a foreign born billionaire, has damaged American democracy, possibly irrevocably, through an agenda that keeps the MAGA base fearful, somewhat confused, and unable to discern fact from fiction. Tragically, they have caused Americans to believe , for example, that the world’s leading immunologist, Dr Fauci, is an enemy, whereas Elon Musk is a savior.
Social media influencers are willing to accept payoffs to propagate Russian based disinformation. US media influencers were recently named by DOJ following an FBI investigation. Others like Tucker Carlson are extremely cunning, but there is no doubt in my mind they are deriving financial benefit. Those benefits are untraceable and insufficient to directly implicate him and others with the means to avoid detection.
More deviously, the damage is through omission and deception. Devoted viewers, those who are aware of DJT’s charges and convictions somehow believe that they are without merit. The 88 felony charges by four separate grand juries, with testimony by Republicans, many his own staff and attorneys, 34 convictions, an adjudicated sexual assault charge the judge said was actually rape, massive fraud verdicts involving a charity, a university, an election, tax, insurance, business filings, two impeachments for extortion of an ally and a violent insurrection, too many crimes to list, dozens of SA allegations, the Access Hollywood recording…. are somehow just a witch hunt. The prevailing sentiment is that our government is just out to get Trump.
What I find most disconcerting is the number of intelligent, well educated, and otherwise decent people that suffer from collective cognitive dissonance and are able to reconcile all of his crime and corruption. I wrote a piece on why I can never forgive or forget, and that is because VOTERS were the ultimate backstop, when the separation of powers, the Executive Branch, US Congress, our Judiciary, when checks and balances, the US Constitution, free and fair elections and independent media all fail us. They have. They did.
You may recall in the Mueller Report that Trump and mostly his campaign associates, met with Russian operatives throughout the 2016 campaign and avoided prosecution. The investigation found there were at least 140 contacts between Trump and 18 of his associates with Russian nationals and WikiLeaks, or their intermediaries, “though the contacts were insufficient to show an illegal conspiracy.” Again, they defeated the US Judiciary. That investigation and its failure to implicate and charge the head conspirators, was the first of many gut punches to come.
Even before Trump takes office, notice that he is creating friction with not just key economic allies, but these all happen to also be critical intelligence sharing partners. That is no coincidence, even though it also serves as a distraction for other more corrupt endeavors that are underway. Let’s just call it a two-fer, the MAGA base remains sufficiently stimulated and Putin gets his payoff.
I read all of Bob Woodward’s books during the first Trump term and did not read the latest, “War.” In his latest book, Woodward reveals that Donald Trump has had as many as seven private phone calls with Vladimir Putin since leaving office and secretly sent the Russian president COVID-19 test machines during the height of the pandemic. Without question, the tip of the iceberg. Other credible reporting indicates that Trump’s trusty sidekick, his new appendage, Elon Musk, has been in regular contact with Putin for the past two years straight.
As of the latest data, there are over 2,000 billionaires in the world. If this administration and his numerous billionaire buddies are successful, Russian oligarchy is the model that we can look forward to, with bogus elections. The Russian oligarch class structure refers to the small group of extremely wealthy and politically influential individuals in Russia who amassed their wealth and power through control of key industries during the privatization of state-owned assets in the 1990s. Russian oligarchs have close ties to their government and are involved in various sectors such as energy, natural resources, finance, media, and telecommunications. As in the current situation we now face, billionaires wield significant influence over political decisions and the economy.
The Russian oligarch class is part of the country's elite, with immense wealth and power concentrated in the hands of a few individuals. This has led to massive corruption, a total lack of transparency, and the consolidated concentration of wealth.
We can’t say for certain if democracy will fall in the United States, but our own misinformed, non critical thinking, and otherwise naive citizens are complicit in leading us down a path to that model. A day rarely passes that I learn of another former colleague or friend who is fully onboard the Trump Train to Oligarch Nation.
Even though I tend to comport with the nation’s “haves” through hard work but with the privilege of my white older male status, through life experience, compassion, and empathy, I will always align and advocate for the “have nots,” the oppressed, those who face discrimination and scorn. How y'all feel about the "death is completely safe" quote that Ram Dass used to always say, when lecturing and working with the dying? Everything I read from Hinduism/eastern mysticism, pretty much teaches that death is actually sketchy as f*ck if it isn't entered properly.

For example, if you die before your biological clock finishes (murdered, suicide, accident, etc. ) it's said that your soul wanders and experiences heavy feelings of hunger and thirst, but with no physical body to satiate it, so you just suffer for the amount of time it would have naturally taken for your body to eventually die (refered to as "parabdha karma") , before the energies are feeble enough to assimilate into a new womb to reincarnate.

Also, yogis talks about heaven and hell not as a geographical place you end up after death, but a frequency of consciousness you end up in based on what the quality of your consciousness was before your soul left your body. If you were in fear mode before you die, when your soul leaves your body, the energy snowballs into a millionfold fear, because there's no longer a discriminatory mind to deal with the emotion once it leaves the body. Pleasantness/peace at the time of death would manifest a millionfold into "heaven." So it can go either way.

So all that said, if death is completely safe, it would have to mean that there's zero chance of suffering post death... And that seems too good to be true. That would make suicide a pretty reliable way to end suffering completely, and I'm highly skeptical of the nature of reality being that conveniently escapable.

If you carry your thoughts, memory and dislike to your sleep and you spend most of the time in dreaming.

In the same way while at the moment of death if you have regrets attachment, inner changing to objects and individuals. If you cannot stand the idea of being separate from them then that clinging that attachment that thought may bring back to the earth clothed in another form.

When we realise the body cannot carry anymore. Sense and brain cannot function anymore. There is a possibility one can depart consciously dying in a state of Samadhi. Because in dyanam, in meditation one has removed all the entanglements. One is free, completely letting go and ready to take off.

In unconscious sleep we pretended to sleep ended up in dream state and comes back in the next morning. There is no take off. There is no quality of change in consciousness if we are pushed in to death and do not die consciously . With awareness result is incarnation.

When there is a holistic movement even while living that person is dead as liberated. Death is liberation. Meditation is moving in the elegance of death what does that mean? Everything is brahman (cosmic intelligence). Everything is immortality therefore nectar.

When you live holistically right from your breathing is related to the subtle essence in the physical reality, the immortal essence in the physical reality. So whether you speak or one do not speak one is not only in harmony but united we are one with that reality.

The reality clothed in the form of human body and reality clothed in the form of cosmos is quite identical in quality and essence. So a human being separated from reality is no more there. The separation has ended.

Death is the death of the illusion of the separation from the cosmic reality and liberation is the awareness of the illusion of being separate. one is liberated when the myth of separateness is exploded. So as a separate individual one is dead and as a united wholistic expression of reality one is alive as human being, become the wholstic expression of that reality.
