SE SAID:
Another thing I don't understand about right-wingers is the fact that they get so angry and act so weird at any mention of climate change, and they lose their minds at the very suggestion that maybe, just maybe, we might want to consider doing a few things differently so we can at least slow down the destruction of our planet. I don't understand the rage. Recently, our governor announced that starting in the year 2035, new gasoline-powered cars will no longer be able to be sold. It doesn't mean you can no longer DRIVE one, and it doesn't mean you're forbidden from selling your used gas-powered car or buying a used gas-powered car. All it means is that if you want to buy a NEW car, starting in 2035, it will have to be electric. But you should see the crazyreactions from the right. They think ALL gas-powered vehicles have ALREADY been banned! Nothing is being banned, but the law that all NEW vehicles being sold must be electric doesn't start until 2035 anyway. 2035! To me, that sounds so far in the future, my brain can't even process 2035 right now. It's over a decade away! I'm sure that in 12 years, technology will continue to advance and we will continue to move forward, and the world will be in a place where people buying a new car will be fully ready and happy to buy an electric car rather than a gas-powered car. There is plenty of time to prepare for this change - and to me, it doesn't sound like that big of a change anyway since every other car on the road here in San Jose is a Tesla, so obviously people here are already buying tons of electric cars. But honestly, I don't understand the anger and rage from the right any time anyone mentions something which could benefit the environment or the planet. Some of us are old enough to remember the thick brown smog of the 70's. Sometimes we had "smog alerts" where people were told not to exercise outdoors because of the poor air quality. You couldn't even see the hills surrounding the Santa Clara Valley because the smog blocked them out. Now our air is clear and the skies are blue, except when there are wildfires, which is another climate issue affecting our planet. I just don't understand where the anger comes from.
AE REPLIED:
As a classic car fan and a legitimate poor person, in not thrilled about the electric car thing. That means that gas will get even more expensive effectively putting a lot of poor people off the roads. I will never be able to buy a brand new car. Never have. When gas is unaffordable and electric cars are unaffordable, then what? I don't live where public transportation is an option.
SE REPLIED:
People will still be able to own classic cars and other cars that run on gasoline. It's just NEW cars that will have to be electric. I've never owned a new car either, never in my life have I owned a new car. My current car is a 2001, and it has none of the bells and whistles that newer cars have. I marvel at the fancy features people have in their newer cars, but I don't care about that stuff, and I don't care about having those features because to me, as long as a car gets me from point A to point B, that's all that matters. But I guess I feel like 2035 is so far in the future that by the time new car sales have to be electric only, I figure we will have moved forward enough that it won't feel like such a big deal. It would be a big deal NOW if we had to suddenly start buying new electric cars NOW, but it's not happening for 12 more years, so I'm sure that by the time 12 years have passed, we will be ready. But plenty of people will still have gas-powered cars at that point in time, too. I just don't think it's going to be a huge deal when the time comes...and it's not happening for a long time, so we don't have to worry about it any time soon. Personally I love classic cars too and I don't want to see them go. I pretty sure there's many more things other than just gas powered cars that are causing pollution.
DR STATED:
It's all about big money and oil companies have big money and pay republicans lots of money. They don't want to hear about global warming and climate change and clean energy, that all taps in to their bottom dollar and who their base is, they have to protect at all cost, but the planet suffers.
EG STATED:
Conservatives are barely rational. Limit the size of soda portions and they call it a “soda ban.” Build a bike lane and they’re complaining about “everybody being forced to ride a bike when transporting their sick grandmother to hospital in the driving rain.” Tax the inheritance of millionaires’ children and they call it a “death tax.”
SE REPLIED:
Mention any type of gun control, and you're "coming to take away their guns." If schools try to be inclusive of other races and sexual orientations, they're "indoctrinating kids."
I Stumbled across this online and it resonates. There is too much hate in the world and too much divisiveness in this group.

Remember what the music said to us and share it with the younger generation. Stop tearing down current iterations of the band, or this decade over that decade. Nothing was "better", it's all just evolved and different!
10 OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL THINGS THE WORLD CAN LEARN FROM THE GRATEFUL DEAD
1. DON’T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF.
Hang it up and see what tomorrow brings. Don’t let the silly little things steal your happiness. Whatever happens, happens. Every day is a new chance to change your life.
2. MANY TIMES HAPPINESS IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER.
Once in a while you get shown the light, in the strangest of places if you look at it right. Be open to changing your mind and being inspired.
3. KARMA IS REAL.
If you plant ice you’re gonna harvest wind! Make people feel good about themselves. Do good for others. It will come back to you in unexpected ways.
4. KEEP GOOD COMPANY.
When there was no dream of mine, you dreamed of me. Time and good friends are two things that become more valuable the older you get.
5. DON’T TAKE YOURSELF TOO SERIOUSLY.
If you get confused just listen to the music play! Don’t wait for everything to be perfect before you enjoy your life. Think a little less. Live a little more!
6. AGE IS ONLY A NUMBER.
Just keep truckin’ on! Live your life and forget your age. The older you are, the more experiences you’ve had, and the more shows you’ve seen!
7. LOVE IS THE ANSWER
Love will see you through! Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength while loving someone deeply gives you courage.
8. MAKE EVERY DAY COUNT.
Inspiration, move me brightly! You will never have this day again, so make it count. Let inspiration take you to your purpose.
9. CHANGE IS GOOD.
You just gotta poke around! Life is always changing and evolving, like the Grateful Dead! We shouldn’t resist it. Embrace it and look forward to new adventures.
10. BE GRATEFUL.
Nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile! It’s a beautiful thing to be alive, to have lungs that allow you to breathe, and ears that allow you to hear beautiful music. Appreciate everything you have and start each day with a grateful heart.
Who WAS Ram Dass? In the Sixties, He was a Psychedelics Researcher and Promoter at Harvard with Dr. Timothy Leary. (LSD, Magic Mushrooms and Peyote) Then He went to India Looking for Enlightenment and Met a Guru. Changed His Name and Published a Great Book... "Remember: Be Here Now" - It Has His Autobiography and then Many ART Drawings Explaining Eastern Religion. Real Name: Dr. Richard Alpert...
https://beherenownetwork.com/be-here-now/
and Then he wrote a Dozen MORE Books and Gave Many Lectures... ALL WORTHY... I Especially Love "Still Here" because I'm 67 Years Old and The Question of My Own Death is Important To Me... Now... https://www.amazon.com/Still-Here-Embracing-Aging-Changing/dp/1573228710
It's Important to remember that Kermit Michael Riggs Taught Dr. Richard Alpert to BE HERE NOW. He was a Laguna Beach, CA Surfer...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bhagavan_Das_(yogi)
and Then After Listening to The Saturday Night Alive for the Global Peace Tribe Show...
I Had a Dream: We were walking towards the Entrance of the Los Gatos Library and there was a Thin Old Man dressed in a Small Bathing Suit ahead of Us. He pulled on the entrance to the Children's room and It was Locked... Disappointed, he turned around and I asked: "Are You Looking for the Man Who Works There?" He Said: "NO" and I Motioned towards the Main Entrance. We all Entered. He seemed lost so I asked: "Do you Need Help?" as I would ask any Lost Old Man... He Said: "NO" and then I asked again: "Can I Help You?" He said: "No. I'm Fine." and then we went on Our Own Ways. By That time it was Obvious to Me That he was Ram Dass and That it was a Rather "Heavy" encounter to Ask Ram Dass If I Could Help Him... a Meaningful Event... and I was Shaking... So we went downstairs and I went searching for a Book that I Has Started reading before (about Philosophy) - and on the same shelf was a large picture book of the Grateful Dead's Fare Ye Well Tour with four CDs (that were missing) and My friend asked me why I would want to check out that book and I said: "Too Look for Pictures of Myself." and then I woke up and Typed this Document... It's Best to Type it Up before I forget it... For Certain, I would have tried to help any Lost Old Man but It seems Important that I Offered Ram Dass Help in my dream. That's One Of His Main Teachings...

Project MKULTRA: The CIA Mind Control Experiment That Escaped The Laboratory and Got Out Onto The Dance Floor! Was "The Sixties" Really a Test to Just Find Out What Would Happen IF A Million People Took LSD?
At First, The CIA Allowed Millions of Doses of LSD to be Distributed at Grateful Dead Concerts JUST BECAUSE THEY WERE CURIOUS... and then Later, The CIA Deployed All Those Vendors BECAUSE IT WORKED! Many People Who Took LSD Became "NOT A THREAT" To The Ruling Class. People Became interested in Learning How to Play Guitar instead of Being Interested in The Violet Overgrow of the US Government... People Became interested in Organic Farming... Again, Remote Marijuana Farmers and Organic Vegetable Growers DO NOT POSE A DANGER TO THE IVY LEAGUE EAST COAST ESTABLISHMENT...
They Even Had a CIA Consultant Touring Coast to Coast Advising Young People to "Turn On, Tune In and Drop Out." Yes, Dr Timothy Leary Worked for the CIA Designing the Leary Personality Test. --- AND --- People who "Drop Out" are Mostly Harmless... There were a Couple of Exceptions: Abbie Hoffman, Jerry Rubin Started the "YIPPIES" and Protested Against the Vietnam War... Causing Thousands of People to Surround the Pentagon to Try and Levitate It. They also Created the 1968 Chicago Riots...
What IF Abraham Lincoln Had Simply Said Bye Bye? Wouldn't We All Be Better Off IF the South was a Separate Country?
Think About it... What Would the USA Be Like If There Simply Was No Civil War?
In My Humble Opinion... Texas Should Be A Country of It's Own. The People There are Waco! #MAGAKillers, Weird Religious Nuts, Idiot Presidents and a Few Good Country and Western Singers. Well, we could Still Have the Singers Tour America but all those other Defective Brains can just GTFO!
The Last Time Texas Did Anything of Value was Sept. 12, 1958 When Jack Kilby Invented the Integrated Circuit at Texas Instruments. AND THAT was 60 Years Ago! Reality: They are a Drain on the USA. Texas Receives More Payments in Food Stamps, Welfare, Unemployment and Medicare than they Pay in Federal Taxes.
And They can take the Entire South With Them. We the Taxpayers will be Paying a Fortune for Hurricane Relief, AGAIN... Some Places Just are NOT VALID to Live in. Uninhabitable! The Gulf Coast of Texas all the way to Florida and Up the Atlantic to Virginia... Don't Build a House There... It WILL Get Wiped Out By A Hurricane... REALLY! PAY ATTENTION TO REALITY! Don't Build a House There!
I was wrong to state that there were ZERO people of value to come out of the American South since Jack Kilby in 1958 (with the exception of a Few Good Country and Western Singers). In Fact, Dr Martin Luther King and all his Coworkers were Southerners. And they were Great! But It IS TRUE to state that there were NO WHITE PEOPLE from the South that were of any value in the last 60 years... I see today on TV That Senator Rick Scott is Meeting with Mad King Donald to discuss the Hurricane. Scott made it illegal to talk about Global Warming or Climate Change in any Official Florida Government Documents when he was Governor. It Seems that simply pretending there is no problem FAILS to stop Mother Nature... He also looks like Golum from the Lord of the Rings... I realize that it's not nice to make fun of ugly people but... I Can't look at him without thinking of "My Precious." He Ain't Got No Alibi, He's U.G.L.Y.
1967: The Summer of Love... San Francisco, Hippies, Flower Power, Peace, The Diggers, Haight Ashbury, LSD and the Grateful Dead. It certainly has been a Long Strange Trip. Congratulations to all those of us who have survived... One thing is for certain...
The culture of the United States was
radically different After the 1960's...
The conformism of the 1950's was blown away when LSD became widely available. Owsley made the chemical and made it available at Acid Tests with Ken Kesey and the Grateful Dead. He also gave it to the Beatles for their Magical Mystery Tour. The spirit lives on in a yearly camping trip called The Rainbow Gathering. It's like Woodstock but the performers are not paid and I'm in the Band.
---------- (~);-} ----------
The Diggers of San Francisco were a street theatre company famous for their slogan "Today is the first day of the rest of your Life." They provided free food in Golden Gate park to needy Hippies during the Summer of Love. They also created a "Free Store" where all the merchandise was free. I suppose that they were skilled in getting donations. They also walked around Haight Street with a giant picture frame that passers by could step through in order to change their "Frame of Reference." The Diggers were part of the SF mime troupe, Bill Graham worked for them also as a benefit dance promoter/arranger to raise funds by having local bands play and selling tickets. He later became the most successful rock music show promoter in the USA.

Currently, a peaceful village called Arcata, California thrives using the basic concepts of Flower Power. It's on Highway 101 near the Oregon Border... Home of Humboldt State University... If you want to experience the bliss yourself, take a loan from the Federal Department of Education and go to college at HSU. Arcata also is the center of Marijuana farming in the USA. The vast majority of the Grass is grown in Humboldt, Mendocino, Del Norte, Siskiyou and Trinity Counties... The extreme North Western corner of California. http://gvan42.blogspot.com/2017/06/did-you-ever-notice-arcata-california.html
