During the Great Depression of 1929, fear spread fast. Jobs were scarce. Wages fell and families struggled to survive. And instead of asking why the economy had collapsed, many leaders chose an easier answer.
They blamed Mexicans.
Newspapers, politicians, and local officials claimed Mexican families were “stealing jobs” and draining public resources — even though there was little evidence to support those claims.
What followed is now known as the Mexican Repatriation.
Between 1929 and 1939, authorities across the US carried out mass removals of Mexicans and of Mexican Americans. Families were rounded up in neighborhoods, workplaces, and public spaces. Many were pressured or forced onto trains and buses and sent to Mexico.
* About 60% of those expelled were U.S. citizens.
* Many were children.
* Citizenship didn’t protect them.
Some of these families had lived in the US for generations. Many children had never even seen Mexico. They spoke English and went to American schools. Families were separated, lives turned upside down. But in a time of national fear and hysteria, none of that mattered.
Estimates suggest hundreds of thousands — possibly up to two million people were pushed out during this period. Unfortunately, records were poorly kept, which means the true number may never be known.
Then history turned again.
When World War II began, the United States faced severe labor shortages.
Farms needed workers. Railroads needed workers. Food production was at risk. Factories, dairies, and meat packing plants needed workers. Automobile and airplane plants increased production. Laborers were needed.
So the country reversed course.
Through programs much like the Bracero Program, Mexican workers were actively recruited to return to the US and help fill the very jobs they had once been accused of taking. The very same hands that were pushed away during "crisis" were suddenly essential during recovery.
This isn’t a story about blame. It is a story about history. It is about how fear can shape policy.
And about why understanding history matters — especially the parts that make us uncomfortable.
Because when we forget these chapters, we risk repeating them. History doesn’t just explain the past.
It teaches us how to do better next time.

BREAKING: Trump’s new “TrumpRX” drug program gets IMMEDIATELY exposed as a scam!

Surprise, surprise! The president held a big to-do yesterday at the White House where he boasted about how, for example, with his new Trump RX program, “they’re slashing the price of a common inhaler from $458 to $51, a difference of nearly 800%.”

First, off, Donnie, that is not an 800% difference. It is 88%. But that’s not the point.

While Trump billed the program as the result of his masterful negotiations with drug companies, users quickly realized that “Trump Rx” was just a reskin of the GoodRx program...that only had about 50 prescriptions available, with prices more expensive than could be found in other places.

For some drugs, like weight-loss drugs like Wegovy, the “savings” were a straight-up scam. TrumpRX boasts that it’s taking the price from $1,349.02 to just $199 — but if you read the fine print, it clearly says it’s just $199 for the first two months, then the price jumps to $349 a month.

For something like an inhaler, the TrumpRX lists it for $51 — but when you click on it, you are taken directly to the AstraZeneca website to see if you qualify for a hardship program that they ALREADY HAD.

All the drugs available are already covered by health insurance, which TrumpRX does not accept.

“TrumpRx is a side show,” Sean D. Sullivan, a health economist at the University of Washington, said to the New York Times. “I consider it not a real, serious effort in service to lowering prescription drug prices for Americans.”

And the truth is… they aren’t worshiping God at all. They’re worshiping a projection of themselves embroidered onto a deity they’ve remade in their own image. A God who hates all the same people they do. A God who excuses their cruelty and blesses their prejudices. A God who functions less like a savior and more like a shield for their ego. And if there is anything holy happening right now, it’s the way the world is holding up a mirror… on a national scale… showing them exactly who they’ve become. But they’re too entranced by their own narrative to see it. Too fused with their hatred to recognize the reflection looking back is not righteousness, but the sum of their fears dressed up as faith. The exposure is everywhere, loud as a siren, clear as daylight… and somehow they still can’t see that the very system they defend is revealing them to themselves.
