To my friends in other countries: this is how the majority of Americans feel. We are ashamed and embarrassed that enough of our own citizens voted for this person to get him elected, and now he represents us on the world stage. This is not who we are, or at least, it's not who we ever were in the past. It's certainly not who I am. This man does not represent my views at all. I just wish we could do something to stop him and get back to having a decent, respectable person representing our country. Many of us feel totally helpless.

Related to my last post: every president in my lifetime, other than the current one, has been a decent human being. I definitely did not always agree with their policies, but there was never any doubt that they were good people who loved this country and wanted to make life better for the American people. I still have a difficult time processing what the hell happened to make so many Americans vote for someone like Trump? A man who has never once even indicated that he wants to make life better for anyone other than himself and his billionaire supporters. He does not respect our system of government, and he does not support our allies. He has never done a single kind, empathetic, or generous thing to help others. How did we get here? Why are so many people okay with this? Why are so many people just silently allowing this person to dismantle our government and ruin our relationships with our allies around the world? Why aren't ALL of us, Democrats AND Republicans, banding together to get this person out of the White House and replaced with a decent human being who actually respects our Constitution, like all previous presidents did? I know the right-wingers on my page will never, EVER explain it to me, even though I've asked over and over again and promised that I will be polite and respectful. I can already hear the crickets chirping even as I write this, because they're never, ever willing to talk about what motivates them to want to completely destroy everything this country stands for and destroy our relationships with other world leaders. It's just so heartbreaking what's happening. I never thought our country would stoop so low. I'm not even really entirely blaming Trump, because he never hid his intentions. Project 2025 was right there on the internet for all the world to see. We had the power to stop it, and many of us did our best, but others WANTED this. That's the part I wish someone on the right would explain to me in a respectful way, as a fellow American. Explain to me how having someone like Trump is better than having a decent, respectful, patriotic American representing our country. Again, I'm not talking Democrats vs Republicans here. We're all supposed to love this country and respect the Constitution, no matter which party we belong to. I'd be fine with a Republican president who respects the Constitution and supports our allies and actually works toward making life BETTER for the American people. Because up until the current occupant of the White House, hasn't that always been the goal of EVERY president, Democrat or Republican? Each president's goal is to make life BETTER for the American people. They may have different ways of achieving that goal, but that has always been the goal. This is the first president we've ever had who seems bound and determined to make every aspect of American life WORSE, not better. Why is this okay? The crickets are getting louder...but if anyone would care to explain, I sure would love to know the answer. And I'm hoping for something a little more detailed than "he hates the people they hate." There has GOT to be a better reason why so many people are willing to have our American way of life completely destroyed along with our relationships with our allies.

Since I am older than you... I have experienced presidents that were astonishingly evil quite often! Lyndon Johnson was Evil...Richard Nixon was Evil... Ronald Reagan was Evil... George Bush the son was incredibly stupid and Evil... And he surrounded himself with the slaves of Satan... Rumsfield, Cheney, Rice and Powell...

You think all of those former presidents were no different than Trump? All of the presidents you named were in my lifetime except LBJ. The only one I don't have a clear memory of is Nixon, because I was only 5 when he resigned. I did not care much for Reagan and Bush (both Bushes, actually), and I disagreed with many of their policies, but they didn't run around acting disrespectful and cruel like Trump. They showed empathy when empathy was required, like when the Challenger blew up during Reagan's term, and when 9/11 happened during Bush's term. They came on TV and spoke to the American people and reassured us that we are strong and we would get through it. You never, EVER hear words like that from Trump. Like I mentioned in an earlier comment, he got offended when a reporter asked him if he was going to visit the crash site of one of the recent plane crashes. Reagan and Bush would have visited the crash site because that's what a president does after there has been a tragedy. I'm sorry, but Reagan and Bush are not even CLOSE to the level of evil as Trump. I do think Nixon is the only former president who comes close...but even Nixon had the decency to resign. Also, the Cold War was still going on during Reagan's presidency, and there is NO WAY Reagan would have sided with Russia for any reason. If Russia had invaded one of our ally countries during Reagan's presidency, do you think Reagan would have disrespected our ally the way Trump is currently disrespecting Ukraine? It was APPALLING the way he treated Zelenskyy yesterday. I'm 100% certain that Reagan would have never done that, and Reagan would have never taken Russia's side in a situation like this. Our relationships with our allies were strong up until Trump came along and ruined everything.

And everyone can see what's happening, but somehow they see it all as a POSITIVE thing instead of negative. THAT'S the part I don't get. At the rate we're going, we will be a shell of our former glory by the time his 4 years are up, and we will have NO allies around the world. It's not too late to stop it, but we need Republicans to admit that it needs to be stopped. But they won't admit it. They won't even DISCUSS it.
