Trump begins firings of FAA staff just weeks after fatal DC plane crash...
Are plane crashes on the rise? What to know about the recent incidents...
And then on Faceborg SE said:
Why are right-wingers so unwilling to talk about their beliefs? I really want to understand how they think things are better now than they were under Biden. Sometimes I ask, but I always get met with crickets. I truly believe that if someone could just explain what was so bad under Biden and how it's better under Trump, and do so in a polite and respectful way, maybe we wouldn't be so divided. Maybe, just maybe, I'd AGREE that some things are better now. I don't really see that happening, but you never know. I just wish people were willing to have conversations about it. The way I see it, when Biden was president, we had strong relationships with our allies, we were respected all over the world, and we weren't worried about losing our healthcare or social security because Biden would have never allowed that to happen. But now, our relationships with our allies are a mess, the rest of the world is worried about us and feeling sorry for us, and our healthcare and social security are being threatened...and yet, some people think it's BETTER this way. Can someone please tell me HOW? In a polite and respectful way? I promise I'll be respectful in reply, although I may ask more questions. And then VM commented:
Its because what THEY CONSIDER BAD is stuff like equality. They see minorities or women getting equal rights or maybe succeeding in some way and that's BAD in their eyes. They see a black woman getting a doctorate or making history as the first WOC in a particular position and thats BAD to them. They see a white woman in a wheelchair working in a prestigious position in federal government and they get MAD. They see a gay gentleman making advances in tech or science and they get MAD. Because they see anyone besides themselves succeeding as taking success opportunities away from cis yt men. Thats what it is. They don't acknowledge how the black female doctor worked so hard for so long to achieve what she did. They like to talk as if that woman worked less hard than they did, even if they barely graduated High school and coasted into a cushy position in their father's used car dealership or whatever. And if they are struggling, say working in entry level retail or fast food, they pretend it's BECAUSE of that black woman or gay man. They don't like to honestly think about the reality and the fact that they never tried very hard. Or that they are unpleasant to be around and lost job opportunities because of their own egos and unwillingness to change. They generally know this even if they won't ever admit it. And that makes them even angrier! Its much easier to hate anyone different than to accept your own personal failings. They can't communicate what was worse because saying "I WANT IT TO BE LIKE IT WAS WHEN I COULD OWN SLAVES AND BEAT WOMEN AND DIDNT HAVE TO RESPECT OTHERS!"sounds bad. Thats why. Don't waste your energy trying to make it deeper than it is.
And then SE replied:
I know you're right about all of this, but I still wish an actual right-winger would comment and explain where they're coming from. I have several on my friend list who most likely saw this post, but are choosing not to answer my question. There was one who (politely) commented the other day on another one of my posts, and when I (politely) asked them some questions, they never replied. I just wish they wanted to understand each other better and find some common ground. I find that most people on the left would like to find common ground, but it's the ones on the right who refuse to communicate with us.And I said:
When talking to right-wing whack jobs, make sure to point out in simple terms how Trump is a disaster... Egg shortage... The price of everything has gone up... Five airplane disasters since January 20th... Massive unemployment... Make them think!
It's only when the red people and the blue people come together that we can Deport Elon Musk and lock up Donald Trump... As soon as the people in the Senate and the House of Representatives understand that the vast majority of Americans think that Trump is insane and a danger to the USA... At that point they will impeach and convict... Or maybe they'll use the 25th Amendment to the Constitution to send Donald to a mental hospital... Before he does more damage... It's very important to contact the right wing whack jobs! Maybe they are members of your own family... Or Maybe people you run into at work...
All day every day shout out:
"Hey! Wake the f*ck up! You can't eat lies!"
Things I'm dreading about this coming summer:
1. The heat.
2. The extra time required to cover myself with sunscreen from head to toe every time I leave the house.
3. The extra expense of all that sunscreen.
4. Being unable to find parking spots in the shade and having to park my car in the hot, blazing sun.
5. Having to bring a change of clothes with me to work every day for when I step out of the freezing office into the sweltering heat.
Things I'm looking forward to about this coming summer:
1. The Greek festival on the first weekend of June.
2. Fresh seasonal summer fruit, especially figs.
3. Fresh corn on the cob.
4. Hot weather means less clothing which means lighter loads of laundry to haul to the laundromat.
5. The Santa Cruz Boardwalk at night.
6. County fairs.
7. The Scottish Highland Games on Labor Day weekend.
8. Road trips (hopefully-anyone wanna go?)

and then NM Replied:
I live in Key Largo and I'm pale too. I also have tons of dangerous skin problems in my family (the big C) and when we lived aboard our sailboat I bought a ton of sunblocking clothing and some very high quality sun hats. I still use sunblock daily but I loathe the texture and anything sticky on my skin so it's easier and cleaner to use clothing. I particularly love my sunsleeves/gloves. They are easy to pop off and on and even help keep me cool. I've even been considering a sun umbrella. You should look into these options too!and SE Repiled:
I don't like the sticky/greasy feeling of sunscreen on my skin either, but I get too hot in the summer if I wear too much clothing. I haven't really tried type of sunblocking clothing you're talking about, though. If it doesn't feel restrictive and it doesn't make you feel hot, and if it isn't ugly, I would definitely consider trying some! I already wear wide-brimmed hats year-round because my eyes are so sensitive to glare, and I've been known to use a regular umbrella for extra shade.and I Commented:
One of the best days of my entire life was skin diving with my brother at John Pennekamp State Park (Key Largo) ... We saw a billion fish and coral... On a serious note... Jimmy Buffett died of skin cancer caused by exposure to the Sun... So do whatever you can to stay safe...SE Said:
Absolutely heartbreaking what’s happening to this country. MAGA voters, are you proud of yourselves?

RANGER BRIAN Replied:
I am absolutely heartbroken and completely devastated to have lost my dream job of an Education Park Ranger with the National Park Service this Valentine’s Day.
Access to my government email was denied mid-afternoon and my position was ripped out from out under my feet after my shift was over at 3:45pm on a cold snowy Friday. Additionally, before I could fully print off my government records , I was also locked out of my electronic personal file that contained my secure professional records.
Please know and share this truth widely:
I am a father, a loving husband, and dedicated civil servant.
I am an oath of office to defend and protect the constitution from all enemies foreign and domestic.
I am a work evaluation that reads “exceeds expectations."
I am the "fat on the bone."
I am being trimmed as a consequence of the popular vote
I am a United States flag raiser and folder
I am my son's "Junior Ranger" idol
I am of the place where I first told my spouse I loved her
I am a college kid’s dream job
I am the smiling face that greets you at the front door
I am your family vacation planner
I am a voice for 19 American Indian cultures
I am the protector of 2500 year old American Indian burial and ceremonial mounds
I am the defender of your public lands and waters
I am the motivation to make it up the hill
I am a generational cycle breaker
I am the toilet scrubber and soap dispenser
I am the open trail hiked by people from all walks of life
I am the highlight of your child’s school day
I am the band aid for a skinned knee
I am the lesson that showed your children that we live in a world of gifts- not commodities, that gratitude and reciprocity are the doorway to true abundance, not power, money, or fear.
I am the one who taught your kid the thrush’s song and the hawk’s cry.
I am the wildflower that brought your student joy
I am the one who told your child that they belong on this planet. That their unique gifts and existence matters.
I am an invocation for peace
I am gone from the office
I am the resistance
But mostly I'm just tired.
I am tired from weeks of being bullied and censored by billionaires
I am tired of waking up every morning at 2am wondering how I am going to provide for my family if I lose my job
I am tired of wiping away my wife’s tears and reassuring her that things will be ok for us and our growing little family that she's carrying.
Things are not ok. I am not ok. (This is the second time in under five years a dream job I worked has been eliminated. Now I may need to uproot my FAMILY again.)
Stay present, don't avert your gaze.
Until our paths cross down the trail,
Fare thee well.

and I Said:
The fundamental flaw with firing thousands of federal employees is the assumption that they do no work... That's a false assumption... In fact, all of those people have tasks... And those tasks will no longer be accomplished... Park Rangers... FAA employees... The military... The FDA... Fraud? Consumer protection? I think all of those things are worthy tasks to accomplish... Especially since my brother is planning to fly in an airplane next week... I recommended that his wife not accompanied him on this trip because I don't want them both to die...SE Said:
I sometimes wish the weather people on TV would not talk about the fact that there isn't going to be any rain for a long time. San Jose gets SO LITTLE rain compared to the rest of the Bay Area. We've barely had any rain this season at all...but this morning on the news, the weather person is practically jumping for joy as they tell us that "the rain" (which never made it to San Jose) is going away and not coming back for a LONG time (their words). I feel like I wait all winter for the rain to finally ARRIVE, only to find out that it's never coming. And as someone who really, REALLY loves rain, that is extremely depressing. And I said:
The thing that really frightens me is the possibility of wildfire right here at home burning my own house to the ground... Rain prevents wildfires... And so every time it rains I thank Mother Nature for protecting me one more day... I live near Sacramento California and we have a lot of trees around here... And when it gets really dry... I'm afraid that the trees will catch on fire and burn down the neighborhood... That Happened quite often here in California!
