I often see comments where people talk about clock radios as if they're some relic from the past. I find this to be strange, because clock radios are still made. I've woken up to a clock radio since elementary school. I remember my parents gave me one around the time I was in 3rd grade, and they told me it was time to start getting myself up for school rather than relying on my mom to wake me up. So I started setting my alarm to wake up to the radio every morning, and I still wake up to the radio every morning to this day. I don't really understand why anyone wants to wake up to any sound other than the radio. I find beeping or ringing alarms to be nerve-wracking, and I hate all sounds emanating from a smart phone. I will use the alarm on my smart phone if I'm traveling and need to set an alarm to wake up. But if I'm at home, I much prefer to wake up to the radio.
At the moment, my clock radio is tuned to The Bone. Yesterday I woke up to "Rock of Ages" by Def Leppard, and today I woke up to "Subdivisions" by Rush. Those are both songs I like and which remind me of high school, so they were pleasant songs to wake up to. I also have a memory from childhood of being woken up by "Suffragette City" by David Bowie - specifically, the line, "Wham, bam, thank you ma'am." I always think of that whenever I hear that song, even now.

I used a Traditional Alarm Clock with Two Bells... Like you would see in the Cartoons! Because I'm a heavy sleeper and I needed a REALLY LOUD ANNOYING SOUND to Wake Me Up... and I made Sure that the Damn Thing was Out of Reach so I Had to Get Up to Turn the Damn Thing Off... I would Just Sleep thru Music... and Have Wonderful dreams of Dancing with Women at a Concert...

The US government has never defaulted on its debts -- but actions by Senate Republicans are threatening to shatter the nation's financial track record. The stakes are high. If the ceiling isn't raised or suspended, it will almost certainly impact the US economy at a macro level, with experts forecasting interest rates spikes and stock price plunges. But the effects will surely be felt on an individual basis, too, as a government spending freeze would reduce or eliminate funding for vital programs, including food assistance for low-income Americans, Medicare and Social Security, and payouts to retired veterans.
