I do wish that we quilters could educate the public the difference between a quilt and a blanket. A blanked is manufactured in a plant with little or no history as to its origin and can be sold to anyone willing to pay their price. A quilt is carefully planned out by some individual person, usually a woman, who spends hours choosing the fabric, pattern and means of quilting it. She puts her whole heart into it while it is in the making, hoping some loved one or friend can appreciate all of the work and time that has transpired and that she had enough love for them to bestow it in their care. Even my reptile quilt. It took a lot of hours and all hand pieced & quilted ( except the plastic mouse in the snakes tail ).

It all started when I found this artifact in my backyard. I guess that an alien spaceship had landed there and was doing some repairs. When they left, they forgot this wrench.

The grey suited men took me to a small windowless room. They asked me if I wanted to help them fight the Aliens that had left the socket wrench in my backyard... One said "Have you actually seen what visited you?" and he turned on a television...
OH NO, I cried... These aliens are just too goofy to look at... I'm so glad that you grey suited representatives of an unnamed government agency spirited me away to this windowless room... I'll cooperate fully... Please, please, please DON'T make me look at those goofy Escherian aliens anymore... (editors note: at this point our hero starts behaving like a total weenie and not at all like a true gentleman... Therefore, the rest of this scene is deleted... That gives us time to RUN AWAY! Those disturbing images of Aliens had put me in a classic state of Paranoid Schizo... It seemed that instead of me watching the Television, the Television was watching ME!...
Eventually, the grey suited men realized that I was just too "LAME" to be of any use to them and they left. I inspected the television set that they had shown me the disgusting pictures of the aliens... and I came to the shocking realization that it was radically different to anything I had ever seen before...
At that moment I realized they had spirited me away to A parallel universe. I remember reading about them in a classic Sci-Fi book called "The Coming Of The Quantum Cats" by Frederik Pohl.
I turned on channel six and saw the president on the news. He said "I get no satisfaction, that's why I sing the blues..." Then the picture panned to his wife, she turned to him and said... "Don't get crazy, you know just what to do... Crank that old Victrola, put on your rocking shoes!

I changed the channel and saw that they were playing an old movie called "FUTUREWORLD" WITH PETER FONDA AND YUL BRENNER...
Yet, It seemed to be like totally different than I remembered... As a matter of fact, ALL the stations were weird... SEE FOR YOURSELF! Try them all, eventually they all lead to FUTUREWORLD2525! When you think about it, this is true in life also... No matter what path you select at the "fork in the road" you end up in the same place... FUTUREWORLD2525!

It was a Very Long Concert and about Halfway thru I Walked over to a Chinese Restaurant... and when I got back they were still playing Music... including a Sample of a Train Whistle that totally fooled me... I asked the man sitting next to me: "Where is the Train Around Here?" and he responded: "It's a Synthesizer Onstage..."
I also Remember the Reno Hilton Steve Miller/George Thorogood Concert... outdoors... and we could hear it Great from the Parking Lot... at the end of the concert they played a 12 bar blues song... and both men traded lead guitar riffs... THAT was EPIC.
The REAL Reason I won't be going to the Concert is... I'm too old... Walking a city block is exhausting and I have to sit down... a major adventure is beyond me... The Price is not too high when I consider that Hotel Rooms are VERY Cheap!
What's bad about being Old is: The Rainbow Gathering will be in California this summer and the Idea of a Long Hike and sleeping outdoors is no longer something I want to do...

First and foremost I am proud to be an American and that the grateful dead originated in the United States of America. I have a college degree in psychology and sociology.in doing so over the years I have learned much about myself as well as the people that surround me. I am tired of making comments of the ken ,Barbies and biffs who choose to attend the sphere shows ...though I may post a humorous pics or two. In reality America is the melting pot of the world. The introduction of the Internet and social media has changed everyones life. As is known change is a constant in this world and we all have to adapt at at one time or another. Yes, I am of the elder generation now but I was young once as were you. I chose to be with the best and wisest people I could meet at dead shows and learned to appreciate the music that feeds us all. As a whole looking at the big picture alot of people still want to experience a dead show because it is a special thing. I respect that. I was blessed to see the band many times front row. I wouldn't trade those memories for anything. I am thankful to feel part of the family. Things have changed. God bless the original members of the band for keeping the fire going. All I ask is that for those newbies to respect the elders who are there truly for the music. It's like a religion. It's not all about the drugs. All comments welcome.
Religion is an existential threat to humanity... because it has been weaponized by those who believe in it. Simply, supporting and believing in it does us no justice in the bigger picture of stewardship of our planet. In fact it holds us back. Look, the only way out of this is to make it cease to exist. And learn from it. Realize as a populace that it is a form of indoctrination (and therefore brainwashing). Actually, to me it seems as if religion is already imploding, perhaps with the spread of the abundance of information being passed via the internet. For sure, information is power. Sometimes I wonder if we will see the discovery of intelligent alien life during our lifetimes. Like out in the open info where no one can deny their existence. Certainly that would be the final nail in the coffin of organized religions, would it not? 'Certainly' may be a reach. Admittedly. In my mind, the Conservative Movement remains the foremost threat to our democracy and likely our entire future. The climate isn't waiting for us to take ourselves out... it is actively changing before our eyes and we are doing little to change ourselves. It makes us wonder why they would call them Conservatives. They ain't conserving anything other than their dying ideology stemming from systemic racism and religious bigotry. And what we need instead is to move forward and learn how to adapt to what is coming. There's some certainty in if they win the day though. Because certainly we will never make it if the conservative movement moves takes full control of our government which moves us backwards. We will eventually cease to exist due to our own accord. No, the only way to get through this is to bring truth to the table and vote out those who would have us thrown in prison (just because we vote differently). Vote those out who hide behind the bully (pulpits)... for they are the weak ones. The most important election of our lifetimes is right around the corner. Definitely resembles good vs. evil in my book (i'm an ex-catholic, recovering). Bu if we elect rational human beings capable of empathy and critical thinking... who is critical of faith-based philosophies (the cause of so many wars and hardships) - but which can work with the other side a bit - then we stand a chance to see our way through this dark era of the MAGA movement in our country. And perhaps then the world... would follow and revert to more liberal policies which provide safety nets and more thoughtfulness to the climate. And we could tax the churches and use that money to help the local communities and provide shelters to the homeless, with prospects as incentives. But the ...as evidenced by... examples continue to pop up all around us - on the dailey. And what it really comes down to is we simply need to do more to stop and even reverse the damages we've done to our planet and the species on it. Enter Science. Because we don't figure shit out by praying.

During the 1950s Americans went into a Panic about Communists taking over the world. We built thousands of Nuclear Missiles and fallout shelters. The US Congress had witch hunts (Joe McCarthy-HUAC) to expose "Commies" who worked in The Hollywood Movie business and blacklisted folksingers that were leading our young people astray with Labor Union Organizing songs. During the height of this hysteria Vice President Richard Nixon went on Television and explained "the Domino Principle"while pointing to a map of Asia. His theory was that one by one those countries over there would turn Commie and soon they would take over Mexico and threaten the American Way of Life. Soon, President Eisenhower and Kennedy sent advisors to help the South Vietnamese soldiers fight the North Vietnamese soldiers. Then President Johnson sent even More American Soldiers to fight the Viet Cong. Then President Nixon continued the War for another 5 years before eventually he decided to allow the South Vietnamese to fight their own war and we left. Quickly the South lost and thousands of Boat People fled South Vietnam because they thought they would be killed. As it turned out, The Domino Principle was false. Communism did not take over the world. The entire war was a waste of lives and money.
