The largest Chapter 11 bankruptcy so far has been that of car-rental company Hertz. I'm still getting used to having a normal president again! For 4 years, it felt like when I was in a relationship with an emotionally abusive narcissist. No matter how hard I tried to make sure everything was perfect so I could keep the peace, my ex-boyfriend always found reasons to bring drama and chaos into my world, especially the longer we stayed together. I found myself trying harder and harder to make sure that there was NOTHING that could possibly set him off because I just wanted our time together to be peaceful and happy. But no matter how hard I tried, it was never enough. He was MADE of drama, and he brought it with him everywhere. It didn't matter how perfect everything was on my end: when he showed up, he always brought stress and chaos into my life. I eventually had enough, and I ended the relationship and blocked him everywhere, and I never looked back. Almost 4 years later, I'm still alone, but I know I'm better off alone and living in peace than having to live with all of that drama and chaos. 

Having Trump as the president gave me a similar feeling of stress and chaos. Nothing Trump did ever made sense. Instead of deferring to the science in regards to the pandemic, Trump brought in quacky doctors who supported his crazy theories that masks are bad and we should be taking hydroxychloroquin. When governors tried to do the right thing by having mask mandates in their states, Trump tweeted stuff like, "Liberate Michigan!" in an attempt to create chaos in those states instead of unifying everyone to come together and do the right thing to slow the spread of the virus and get it under control. He encouraged people to go AGAINST the guidelines instead, which created more problems and chaos. His tweets were another story. Every morning, I woke up wondering what craziness he tweeted during the night which would create more drama and chaos in the country. I had a constant feeling of anxiety and stress while he was president. That feeling is gone now. It's crazy. When Biden took over, everything just switched back to the way it should have been all along...much like how the peace came back into my life after I finally ended my toxic relationship and blocked my ex out of my life. The peace I had been working so hard to bring to our relationship came back and stayed, because there was no longer someone constantly trying to disturb the peace and introduce chaos. That's how it feels now, with Biden as president. It feels calm, peaceful, and safe. When he speaks to the country about the pandemic, or police reform, or racism, or whatever other issues we are dealing with, he doesn't speak in the divisive way that Trump spoke. Trump spoke ONLY to his base, and he painted everyone on the left as the enemy, and he also painted the press as the enemy. Biden doesn't do that. We AREN'T each other's enemy. Some of us disagree, but it doesn't make us enemies, and it's really awful to hear a president, who is supposed to be leading ALL of us, speak as if half of us are the enemy of the other half. Biden doesn't speak that way, and no other president in my lifetime ever spoke that way until Trump came along. I will never understand why anyone would prefer someone like that as their leader rather than someone who shows equal respect and concern for ALL of us. If you are on the right end of the political spectrum, you're NOT my enemy just because I'm on the left. We are just two Americans who love our country, but have different ideas about the direction we think the country should be going. That's democracy! We're not supposed to act like enemies, and we're certainly not supposed to have a president who treats half of us as enemies instead of regarding ALL of us as Americans! And in regards to the pandemic, Biden constantly encourages us to get vaccinated, and he reassures us that there is enough vaccine for all, and he got his vaccine publicly while Trump got his privately, which is another bizarre thing Trump did. Why is he the only living president who DIDN'T get the vaccine publicly? He got the vaccine, so why didn't he do it publicly like a true leader? 

I'm just so glad that the country is no longer being run from a place of drama and chaos and irrationality!

Bernie Sanders Says: Dear Mr. Vanderlaan: Thank you for writing to me regarding marijuana. I strongly believe that the War on Drugs has been a failure and that too many lives have been destroyed due to arrests for marijuana possession.

As you may know, a number of states have legalized marijuana for  medical or personal use. However, marijuana is still classified as a Schedule 1 drug under the federal Controlled Substances Act, rendering use and possession illegal under federal law. The Obama administration put forward guidance that stated the Department of Justice would selectively enforce federal law where states had chosen to legalize marijuana, only prioritizing prosecution of actions like drug trafficking, drugged driving, or the growing of marijuana on public lands. Unfortunately , Attorney General Sessions rescinded that memo, putting residents and small business owners in certain states at risk of federal enforcement. 

I strongly disagree with  then- Attorney General Sessions’ decision to end this guidance.    

The  revised policy may also limit people’s ability to access medical marijuana. Many Americans rely on medical marijuana for pain relief, and I believe those suffering from pain and illness deserve our utmost compassion. Millions of Americans who suffer pain from chronic, acute, and terminal illnesses use medical marijuana to manage their pain. At a time when many states, including Vermont, are allowing medical use of marijuana to treat a range of debilitating conditions, states must be confident that they have the power to determine their laws and regulations. Moreover, it should go without saying that imposing harsh penalties for the possession and use of recreational or medical marijuana will not help reform our criminal justice system.

It is time to end the senseless War on Drugs, and that begins with marijuana.   The number of drug offenders in American prisons and jails has increased by an astounding 1 , 894 % since 1980. Moreover, even if a person escapes a jail sentence, arrest records follow a person for life, making it harder to find a job or secure housing.

You may be interested to know that  during the 114 th Congress , I introduced the Ending Federal Marijuana Prohibition Act of 2015 to end the federal ban on marijuana. This bill would remove marijuana from the list of regulated drugs under the Controlled Substances Act, and allow states to legalize marijuana for recreational or medical use without fear of federal intervention. Also, this legislation would enable providers at Federally Qualified Health Centers and the VA to prescribe marijuana to patients in states where it is legal.

This is not just an issue of criminal justice, but one of racial justice. African Americans are almost four times more likely to be arrested for marijuana possession than white  Americans , despite roughly equal usage rates.  In 2017, nearly 600,000people were arrested for possession of marijuana. Many of those people, disproportionately people of color, have seen their lives destroyed because they have criminal records as a result of marijuana use. To my mind, we must invest in jobs and education, not jails and incarceration, especially in communities of color most affected by the failed war on drugs.

That is why I am a proud cosponsor of the Marijuana Justice Act. This bill removes marijuana from the purview of the Controlled Substances Act, making it legal at the federal level. As a result, there would be no criminal penalties for possession of marijuana and it would be easier for academics and researchers to study the health effects of medical marijuana. The Marijuana Justice Act also addresses the disastrous impacts of the War on Drugs, especially on communities of color, in part by expunging criminal records for individuals convicted of marijuana possession. States where marijuana remains illegal will lose certain federal funds if their marijuana laws are shown to have a disproportionate effect on low-income individuals and/or people of color. In addition, this legislation creates the Community Reinvestment Fund, which will be used to establish grant programs to reinvest in communities most affected by the War on Drugs. This includes funding for job training, public libraries, reentry services, and programs and opportunities dedicated to youth.

I am also a cosponsor of the Marijuana Freedom and Opportunity Act of 2019. Like the Marijuana Justice Act, this bill  decriminalizes marijuana at the federal level , and takes steps to  address the disproportionate impacts of the War on Drugs .  In addition to providing grant funding for state and local governments to develop and expand expungement and sealing programs for individuals convicted of marijuana possession, this act establishes a  new trust fund to benefit women - and minority-owned marijuana businesses  with re venue generated by the industry . Furthermore, the Marijuana Freedom and Opportunity Act of 2019 invests heavily in public safety and public health research to better understand the impacts of marijuana on dr iving and on health, as well as requires the Department of Treasury to regulate marijuana advertising to ensure businesses cannot target children.

Paul Manafort's Trump Tower condominium was formally forfeited to the U.S. government, according to Thursday court filings. 

The government also seized money in Manfort's Capitol One and Federal Savings Bank accounts, and his Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance policy, court filings show.

President Trump’s current Labor Secretary Alexander Acosta—broke the law when they signed a secret plea agreement with billionaire sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, a Palm Beach judge ruled Thursday.

U.S. District Judge Kenneth A. Marra ruled that the decision to keep more than 30 of Epstein’s accusers in the dark about the non-prosecution deal that allowed Epstein, a prominent financier with political connections, to avoid federal prosecution was unconstitutional.

and... This plan would do NOTHING AT ALL about shootings at Shopping Malls, Office Buildings or Country Music Concerts. Recently we have seen mass murder at all three locations.

What IF we had a Tax Reform Bill that CUT taxes for the Poor and Middle Class and DID NOT increase the deficit by 1.5 Trillion Dollars?

If we had MAJORITY RULE in the USA we could have a Congress that passed Laws that made life better for the Poor and the Middle Class. There are more of us than the 1%.

If we had a real Tax Cut then the majority of Americans would have more money to spend in our paychecks. That would increase sales and profits in American Corporations. The New Profits would be used to pay increased corporate taxes and that would make the effect on the deficit ZERO.

This is called Bubble Up Economics a proven winner. Remember when Obama gave everyone a discount on New Cars? MANY new cars were sold.

The Republicrime Plan is to cut taxes for the wealthy and increase taxes for the rest of us AND increase the Federal Deficit by 1.5 Trillion Dollars. President Bush the Elder called this VooDoo Economics and it Failed when it was tried by President Reagan.
