August 25th National Parks Day of Action

VIDEO: The Future of America's National Forests: The Trump administration is advancing plans to repeal the 2001 Roadless Area Conservation Rule, a landmark policy that has protected millions of acres of national forest from commercial logging and road construction for 25 years. This controversial move would transfer decision-making power to individual forest managers, sparking a fierce debate between government officials and conservationists.

Events and gatherings are planned at parks and communities across the country, including **Yosemite, Muir Woods, Rocky Mountain, Acadia, Big Bend, Great Falls, New River Gorge, Kenai Fjords** and many more. Organizers also plan advocacy events, public presentations, conservation activities and park celebrations—not just traditional protests.

The campaign comes as advocates raise concerns about staffing losses across the National Park Service. They say fewer rangers, maintenance workers, educators, scientists and emergency personnel could mean reduced visitor services, delayed conservation work and greater risks to people and protected resources.

The Trump administration disputes the criticism, saying its policies are intended to expand recreation, reduce unnecessary regulations and increase funding for park infrastructure.

But supporters argue that **roads and buildings alone cannot protect America’s national parks—people do.**

August 25 also marks the **110th anniversary of the National Park Service**, making this a significant moment for those calling for the future of America’s public lands to remain a national priority.

August 25th National Parks Day of Action:

IT’S TIME TO STAND UP FOR OUR NATIONAL PARKS!

Our national parks are facing a historic crisis, and the people who keep them running need our help. Since January 2025, the National Park Service has lost nearly a quarter of its permanent workforce—including rangers, scientists, emergency personnel, and maintenance crews.

Where We Are Gathering
Events are happening coast-to-coast, both online and in person! Key locations include:

The West: Yosemite Valley, Muir Woods, Rocky Mountain NP, Albuquerque, and Kenai Fjords.

The East & South: Acadia NP, Cuyahoga Valley, Big Bend, and Brooklyn.

The Capital: Rock Creek Park, the C&O Canal, and a direct petition delivery to the Department of the Interior in D.C.!

How You Can Get Involved
Not every event is a traditional street protest. You can join the movement through:

Community gatherings and park celebrations

Public presentations and advocacy stations

Hands-on conservation work

Let’s remind the administration that America’s greatest treasures require the people who protect them. Stand with us, sign the petition, and find an event near you!
