Instead of waiting for users to self-report, Meta uses background machine learning to identify accounts that may be lying about their age:
Behavioral and Contextual Analysis:
The AI scans profile text, posts, and user comments for context clues. For example, if an account claims to be 22 but friends write "Happy 14th Birthday!" on their wall, the system flags the account.
Visual Data Indicators:
The AI estimates age by evaluating public photos and videos. Rather than using facial recognition to identify individuals, it scans generic visual patterns like height and bone structure to estimate an age range.
