Totally Creepy ExxonValdez TV AD

Oil and gas companies are spending millions of dollars on campaigns to fight climate regulations at the same time as touting their dedication to a low-carbon future, according to a joint analysis by the Guardian and InfluenceMap.

Their global PR campaigns on social media promote a commitment to a green, low-carbon future, but across the US in particular, specific local campaigns are obstructing tighter regulations on fossil fuel extraction.

In many cases, oil and gas companies are using direct advertising but some targeted lobbying appears to be more opaque. It is channelled through so called “community” groups – which are being funded by fossil fuel companies.

Rise for Climate: thousands march across US to protest environment crisis.
Protests spearheaded by march in San Francisco ahead of climate change summit in the city next week.

Tens of thousands of people took part in marches and other events across the US on Saturday, calling for a swift transition to renewable energy in order to stave off the various perils of climate change.
The Rise for Climate protests was spearheaded by what organizers called the largest ever climate march on the US west coast. The march, which snaked through the heart of San Francisco, came ahead of a climate change summit in the city next week that will gather mayors and business leaders from around the world.

The San Francisco march, which called for California governor Jerry Brown to end fossil fuel extraction in the state, attracted around 30,000 people, organizers said.

Specific Things We The People Can DO to Prevent Climate Change...

1. Drive Cars and Trucks Less... Simply stop driving unless it is absolutely needed. No cruising for Burgers on Saturday Night. That era is over...

2. Ride the Bus to Work. Switch Jobs so that you CAN ride the bus... Work at home... Use the internet to telecommute...

3. Buy Solar Panels for the roof of your home... If you are one of those rare people that can afford to own a home...

4. Stop flying on Jet Airplanes. REALLY! Why Fly? What is the need?

5. Learn to enjoy the seasons... It's hot in the summer... get used to that. Don't run the air conditioner... sweat instead. My father didn't even own an air conditioner because he was born in 1919 and NO ONE had one... They really suck up the electricity.

6. Stop growing Marijuana indoors with GROW Lights. Grow it outdoors in the free sunshine.
