I really wish Democrats were more united as a party. Republicans are MUCH more united than we are. Republicans mostly seem to just blindly support everything Trump wants to do, without question. I don't think this is right, but it shows unity on their part. Democrats, on the other hand, seem to question and criticize their leaders. I felt awful about the way Biden was treated by the party after he did so many good things for the country. I never understood why people were so adamant that he shouldn't run for a second term. I mean, look what we got instead?!? 4 more years with Biden would not have destroyed our international relations, our healthcare wouldn't be threatened, and we certainly wouldn't be bombing boats in the Caribbean and taking over Venezuela. My head reels on a daily basis from the things that are currently going on with the current administration...but I'm getting off-topic. My point was party unity.
Republicans, with few exceptions, are blindly going along with all of this. But Democrats don't blindly go along with anything. Democrats question everything and criticize openly. When presented with a candidate, Republicans all fall in line and vote for that candidate, even when the candidate is ultimately bad for the country. But Democrats do NOT fall in line and vote for their candidate in the same way that Republicans do. Democrats were all over the place in the 2024 election, many refusing to vote for Kamala because of Biden's handling of the Gaza situation...and of course it's fair to criticize his handling of that situation, but many Democrats were willing to throw away their votes and allow Trump to get back in power. Republicans were NOT similarly willing to throw away THEIR votes in order to protect our Constitution and keep Trump OUT of power. They're even united around protecting sex traffickers and pedophiles whose names are in the Epstein files! They won't even break their unity over something as heinous as that! Can you imagine the Democrats unifying over something like that? Democrats have already made it clear that they want any Democrats in the Epstein files to be prosecuted, but Republicans do NOT want Republicans in the Epstein files to be prosecuted. That's what I mean by blind loyalty. Republicans have it, but Democrats don't.
Ultimately, I think it's BETTER that Democrats pay attention and question things...but if the other party is always going to just fall in line and blindly vote for their candidates, we are going to continue to lose elections. Democrats need some of that blind loyalty too. We should have had that kind of loyalty in the last election, especially considering what we were up against. Every Democrat should have voted for Kamala Harris in order to protect the Constitution and also to protect things we care about like healthcare and women's rights.
I'm truly worried about losing my health plan which is through the ACA. The older I get, the more concerned I am about health, and having access to affordable health insurance. If Republicans are allowed to take that away, it's going to hurt me along with millions of others. It's a mystery to me why Republicans are so willing to hurt so many American citizens in that way, but they are. We CAN'T keep allowing these people to be in control. We HAVE to be as unified as they are. I think more Americans are affected by the policies that Democrats support, like healthcare, fair wages, fair treatment of marginalized groups, etc. than are against those policies because those things affect the majority of people, Republican as well as Democrat. So we CAN'T keep allowing people in power who want to harm us and dismantle or destroy those things that actually HELP us. We were on the right track for so long. Things were headed in the right direction, but now everything is such a mess. We HAVE to become united as a party the way the other party is united, otherwise we may lose everything that we've worked so hard to achieve.

As Democrats, we see them as more united because we paint them with a broader brush, but the same time they do the same thing think of us all the same and they look at the most liberal one and they think we are all that liberal. And then SE said:
True, but they are far more unified in the way they vote than Democrats. They continue to support Trump in spite of his involvement with Epstein, in spite of what he's doing in Venezuela, etc. but Democrats are not like that at all. Can you imagine if there were thousands of photos of Biden hanging out with Epstein? There is no WAY Democrats would continue to support him! Democrats would demand that the Epstein files be released, and if Biden is in them, Democrats would want him removed from office immediately! But what do Republicans do when there are millions of photos of their guy with Epstein and plenty of evidence that he's all over the files? They act like Democrats are stupid for caring about it. That's what I mean. They're unified around Trump no matter WHAT he does, but we don't have that kind of unity on our side AT ALL.Also, more Democrats are willing to throw away their votes on a third party candidate because the Democratic candidate isn't "perfect" enough in their eyes. I know a few people who did this with Kamala. They just couldn't bring themselves to vote for her, but they weren't going to vote for Trump either, so they wasted their vote on a third party candidate who can't win, and ultimately their vote helped Trump get elected. I don't hear about Republicans doing this. They voted for Trump even though a lot of them hated him, they voted for him anyway because they are united and we aren't.
Go listen to Ted Cruz or Lindsay Graham in 2016 say this guy is a loose cannon and immoral.
Now they want to have his love child in a church with a swastika tattooed on their forehead.
It's really a strange thing. I don't get it? He actually has done so little, he has no policy making skill.
He has no legislation skill, no administration skill, no negotiation skill. It's weird.
The only thing that seems to make any sense is that he's such a huge bigot, racist, misogynist.
It's as if we accidentally elected Archie Bunker and everyone suddenly decided that they LOVE Archie Bunker so much that they don't care about the rules anymore, they're ok with throwing the whole system aside just so they can hear more stories of how the Mexicans are coming to rape your daughters !
It's like the weirdest sugar high or cocaine binge, that once they run out of blow, they're going to have one hell of a hangover.
Is there anyone on my friend list who is a World War II historian, or who has specifically studied Hitler and the N@zis? I'm wondering if there were Hitler supporters who never, ever, EVER admitted they were wrong in the same way Trump supporters never, ever, EVER admit they were wrong. Perhaps there are people still alive, currently in their 90s, who STILL believe Hitler never did anything wrong?? I'd be really curious to know if what we're experiencing right now in the USA has never happened before. Not that part about us electing a dictator and our Supreme Court and Congress giving him unchecked power - not that part. The part about his supporters never admitting that they made a mistake. Did that happen in Hitler's Germany? Or is this the first time in history that it's ever happened?
If Hitler's supporters eventually admitted they were wrong, what did it take? Apparently Trump's invasion of Venezuela isn't enough to make them admit it, so what will it take? Or will there never, ever be a breaking point for these people?
