Hi Gregory, it’s Jane Fonda with Fire Drill Fridays and Greenpeace USA.
First, I want to thank you for all your hard work this election season. Many of you volunteered, donated, and organized to ensure that efforts to Get Out the Vote were timely and widespread. And many of you joined us for Fire Drill Fridays to create a community of climate champions that will not back down from our shared values.
The election is over, the voters have spoken — but what does that mean for our movement?
Tomorrow, November 11 at 11am PT/2pm ET, I will be joined by Jane Kleeb, Chair of the Nebraska Democratic Party, to make sense of the election and how it impacts our fight for healthy communities and a livable planet.
Jane Kleeb has served as the Nebraska Democratic Party Chair since December 2016. She is an experienced grassroots organizer, manager, political strategist and nonprofit entrepreneur. Recently profiled by PBS in a film called Blue Wind on a Red Prairie, Jane is a leader who deeply understands the need to connect issues that rural and urban communities are facing to politics in order to win elections.
This is the time; this is the moment. With the wins and losses, the cheers and the heartbreak still fresh, let’s come together and discuss how we can most strategically move forward.
RSVP to let us know you're coming and tune in tomorrow, Friday, November 11 at 11am PT / 2pm ET on firedrillfridays.com, Facebook, Twitter, or YouTube for this important conversation.
Our livestream isn’t the only way to get involved: We've entered a new phase in the fight for climate justice. Incremental legislative progress was never good enough and after this week's election results, we must seek transformative action.
That’s why, on Friday, December 2, we're taking to the streets of Washington, D.C. to demand that President Biden declare a climate emergency. This will be the first climate-centered in-person rally after the election, and we will hold our elected officials’ feet to the fire to deliver the kind of climate action that science and justice demands.
As my good friend and Greenpeace USA Co-Executive Director, Annie Leonard, says, “Being a climate champion means having the courage to fight for people and the planet no matter what powerful interests do to stand in the way of climate action.”
I’m asking you — as Americans of all generations, races, and places — to join me in setting the tone for a powerful movement in 2023 and beyond. Sign up now for our Climate Emergency Rally on Friday, December 2 in Washington, D.C.!
In solidarity,
Jane Fonda
