Trump: First He Flops, then He Flips! Chinese duties on US goods will be lowered to 10%, while the US tax on Chinese goods will be lowered to 30%.

Trump Admits that Tariffs are a Terrible Idea so he's Walking Back, Caving In, Panic U-Turn, Flip-Flop... Oops! And the stock market goes way up! DJIA +1000 Points... Wall Street agrees: "Shooting yourself in the foot is no fun!" But, but, but... it was all part of the plan! Four dimensional Chess!

Ron Filipkowski Said: Trump reaches a “deal” to pause the tariffs he imposed on China. I guess all those manufacturing jobs aren’t coming here now, the tariffs won’t replace income taxes, and all the other amazing things they were supposed to do for us are over. So much for Liberation Day.

White South Africans flying to US under Trump refugee plan...
https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/crljn5046epo

The first set of 49 white South Africans to be granted refugee status by President Donald Trump's administration are on their way to the US. President Trump stated that Afrikaners were victims of "racial discrimination".

Top Trump adviser, South African-born Elon Musk, has previously said there was a "genocide of white people" in South Africa and accused the government of passing "racist ownership laws".

The claims of a genocide of white people have been widely discredited.

Racially charged row between Musk and South Africa over Starlink

What's really driving Trump's fury with South Africa?

In a statement on Friday, South Africa's foreign ministry said accusations the government discriminated against the country's white minority were "unfounded" and that the US's resettlement scheme was an attempt to undermine the country's "constitutional democracy".

The statement added that the country had worked "tirelessly" to stop discrimination, given its history of racial oppression under apartheid.

Cancer treatment advances have been powered by federally funded research. Trump Cuts funding...

Approximately 57% of global cancer research funding between 2016 and 2020 was provided by the U.S. government. Research has turned anecdotes like Eric’s into everyday occurrences, transformed death sentences into survivorship stories, and given patients access to tomorrow’s care today.

Recent Trump administration cuts to university funding don’t just threaten the future of cancer care. They erode hope for every family facing a devastating diagnosis. It’s an auction of America’s future, with each university’s lifeline going once, going twice, gone.

CSU Cuts Come with Human Cost to Our Community...The California State University (CSU) system, including Cal Poly Humboldt, is the state's greatest driver of social mobility. It is a partnership among students, faculty, staff, alumni, donors, local communities and the state, and it serves a critical role in inspiring more than 460,000 students from all backgrounds to pursue a college degree and socio-economic prosperity. Gov. Gavin Newsom has praised the CSU as "the nation's strongest incubator of upward mobility and the nucleus of the California Dream." Yet the proposed 7.95-percent budget cut to the CSU, amounting to nearly $400 million, puts the "California Dream" at risk for hundreds of thousands of state residents, including those on the North Coast. Humboldt's share of that reduction would be $7.7 million.

At a time when California urgently needs a highly skilled and educated talent pool, the governor's proposed cuts are truly unfortunate. After all that state residents have done to assure we are prepared for our future economic, environmental and human health, will those skills go elsewhere?

Help us urge state leaders to reconsider these budget cuts and ensure the CSU continues its mission of educational access and opportunity, transforming lives for generations to come, and enriching our local community.

Republicans join Democrats in Senate vote to rescind Trump Canada tariffs

Resolution that would block tariffs passes 51-48 in Senate, in vote that shows Republican unease over president’s plans...

Several Republican senators joined Democrats to pass a resolution that would block Donald Trump’s tariffs on Canada, a rare rebuke of the president’s trade policy just hours after he announced plans for sweeping import taxes on some of the country’s largest trading partners.

In a 51-48 vote, four Republicans – Susan Collins of Maine, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and both Kentucky senators, the former majority leader Mitch McConnell and Rand Paul – defied Trump’s pressure campaign and supported the measure. Democrats used a procedural maneuver to force a vote on the resolution, which would terminate the national emergency on fentanyl Trump is using to justify tariffs on Canada.

While Trump’s sweeping new tariffs, introduced in a White House Rose Garden ceremony on Wednesday, did not include additional levies on Canada, the Senate vote amounted to a significant bipartisan condemnation of the president’s escalating global trade war with allies and enemies alike.

Today is what President Donald Trump calls “Liberation Day,” the day he frees the U.S. economy from the global economy. President Trump claims that his policy of chaotically implemented tariffs will “bring back jobs” and that U.S. manufacturing will boom “like we have never boomed before.”

We’ve been down this road before, and it didn’t end well.

In his first term, President Trump claimed that he’d revitalize U.S. manufacturing, but he failed to do so; there’s no reason to believe that doubling down on the same, failed policies will do so now. There is a better way — and that comes with real federal investments into the American economy.

Wyden: Trump Tariffs Will Make Everything More Expensive, Solve Zero Problems and Harm American Farmers and Small Businesses

Wyden Blasts Announcement of Blanket, Arbitrary New Taxes on Products from Canada, Mexico and China; Working Families Will Be Hit Hardest

Washington, D.C. – Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Ron Wyden, D-Ore., warned that blanket, arbitrary 25 percent tariffs announced by the White House today on products from Canada and Mexico and 10 percent tariffs on products from China would immediately hammer working Americans with higher prices, while accomplishing little.

“Slapping huge tariffs on gas, groceries, phones, TVs, and cars means working American families are going to pay more for the things they need,” Wyden said. “These tariffs only make sense as class warfare, forcing typical Americans to foot the bill for another round of tax breaks for Trump and his rich buddies. If Trump’s trade war continues, there’s no doubt U.S. workers will lose their jobs when Canada, Mexico, and China retaliate and slap tariffs on made-in-the-USA products.
