We still have a lot of genuine hippies here in the Bay Area, but not nearly as many as there used to be. I noticed the hippie culture seemed to fade away pretty quickly in the 90s after Jerry Garcia died and the deadheads mostly faded away. I know hippie culture is still thriving farther north, though, in places like Sonoma and Humboldt County, and also in Santa Cruz and the Santa Cruz Mountains. Northern CA will always have hippies. 
I've never understood the rivalry between Northern California and Southern California. I get that some of it is sports related, Giants vs Dodgers or whatever, but I don't understand why people like to argue and insist that one part of the state is better than the other. Am I really the only Californian who loves the entire state equally? I mean, it's a pretty fucking beautiful state, from the Oregon border all the way to Mexico. What is there to hate about it? And don't even get me started on people from other states who move here and then do nothing but complain. If you aren't from here and you don't like it here, please consider going back where you came from because we are overpopulated as it is!

but then My Brother Married a Woman from "The Valley" and so I went to a Wedding on a Boat in Long Beach... another wedding at a Golf Club above Laguna Beach... and Walking thru all the Art Galleries there... and We went to the Hummingbird House in Balboa Park, San Diego... Then to "TJ" and Ensanada... STILL... I could have seen More of SoCal...

in Madera County, you can find these two trees. It's said that they were planted to mark the middle of the state. The 
represents Northern California and the 
represents Southern California. The actual center of CA is in the less traveled North Fork area, but along the heavily traveled HWY 99, this is the closest to the middle they could possibly mark 
We did it. Not disease. Not war. Selfishness and intentionally ignoring the signs. Now everyone jump on a plane and take another vacation.
On the positive side, how long do we have? I might have another 10 years. Maybe 15. Perhaps. Maybe I will never see the awful new world. I hope I'm not on my death bead when it all falls apart. Now that got dark. Maybe because it is dark.
Unfortunately, I don't think there is anything individuals can do at this point. Maybe if we all collectively stopped out pollutive habits decades ago, but at this point the activities of 1 billionaires in 24 hours probably has more of a negative impact on the planet then all of our pollutive habits combined. Making billionaires not exist anymore is the only way to save the planet

Satan Trump proved to us that we cannot trust a president to grant pardons. After all Satan Trump pardoned all of his cronies and close friends who committed felonies. Hell, he even wanted to decree a blanket pardon for himself even before he was indicted...meaning he could keep on committing felonies in the future. Trump is cut from the same mold as Putin.... he will destroy our constitution. We need to ask our legislature (at least those in blue states because the Nazi Republicans will never go for it) to not allow presidential pardon's of anyone within the president's or a congressional circle of friends.

Last night, I joined the national whistleblower summit to mourn and celebrate the life of my friend and mentor, Dan Ellsberg.
Midway through the four-hour event, the organization gave away a series of awards in recognition of whistleblowers who exemplify the principles of Dan and those who came before him.
The Pillar Award, presented by the Government Accountability Project, is the highest honor bestowed on a whistleblower.
But that's true of all the previous winners, as well, I learned.
The kindness and warmth I've found with other whistleblowers gives me hope that I'll come out the other side of this.
