TRUMP ENDED IT! The Diversity Immigrant Visa Program - (Perhaps the Stupidest Idea in the Entire History of Stupid Ideas) ... Purpose: To diversify the U.S. immigrant population by offering visas to people from countries with historically low immigration numbers.

The Diversity Immigrant Visa (DV) Program was established by the Immigration Act of 1990, which was signed into law by President George H. W. Bush, creating the annual Green Card Lottery to bring more diversity to U.S. immigration from countries with low immigrant rates.

It's hard to believe but at that time someone thought it would be a good idea to import 55,000 refugees from Third World Hell Hole Countries per year... IMHO A better plan is "Go right back where you came from."
