And then SE Replied: I had heard of him, but I didn't give him much thought because I could tell he was someone with a horrible, hateful, cruel message like Alex Jones. The First Amendment protects their right to spew their hate, but I had no interest in listening to it, so I never really gave this guy a second thought until he was murdered. But it seems a bit extreme that it's still the top story in the news 2 weeks later. They even caught the guy who did it, so shouldn't we be moving past it now? And this funeral is WAY extreme for someone who was just a podcaster. There certainly wasn't such a spectacle to honor the Hortmans, and they were politicians! Why does this podcaster deserve something like this and not the Hortmans?? (I know the answer: because he supported Trump. You get special treatment if you support Trump, and you are vilified if you don't.)

The rights that we've always taken for granted are being taken away, right before our eyes. The Jimmy Kimmel situation is proof that the First Amendment is being taken away from us. This should upset EVERYONE, Republicans as well as Democrats. But of course, Republicans are okay with their rights being taken away as long as it pleases their leader. But this is NOT what it is to be American. We are supposed to be a FREE country, which includes the freedom to criticize our leaders. We are officially no longer free. I am personally NOT okay with this, even if half the country is cheering about losing their freedom. If we're no longer free, then this is not America. The part that makes me sick is the fact that our elected politicians, who are supposed to work for US, are just sitting back and allowing it to happen.

I keep hearing that this is what it was like in 1930s Germany. Everyone wondered why nobody did anything about it then, too. But what can we do? Our politicians are supposed to be the ones protecting us from leaders who want to be dictators, but the politicians are acting like they WANT this. Plus, it's happening so fast. Our next big election isn't for another year, and that's assuming it's a free and fair election, which it won't be if things continue as they are. What can we do to stop this from getting worse? It's like we used to have a certain amount of control, but that control has suddenly been taken away from us...and since nothing like this has ever happened before, we have no idea how to handle it.

The Secret Service came and visited me at my home because they didn't like a tweet of mine... Real agents with real guns and real badges... They also interviewed my brother and my ex-wife... Because they were concerned I might be a 2A gun crazy nut that would assassinate the president... I wasn't... And I'm still not... But it gave me the creeps about what I post... Eventually they went away after determining that I was just an American who was unhappy about the results of the last presidential election... And in fact there are hundreds of millions of us...
