As July of 2017 drew to a close, an extraordinary story unfolded in the halls of Congress. A GOP controlled House of Representatives had passed a bill that would deprive 24 million Americans of health insurance in order to give an 800 billion dollar tax cut to corporations and those making over $250,000 a year. A similar bill in the Republican controlled Senate stalled in part because several Republican senators felt it did not go far enough in stripping health insurance from America’s most vulnerable individuals.
