Jennifer Siebel Newsom, California’s first partner, delivered a blistering rebuke of President Donald Trump during a press conference in support of Governor Gavin Newsom’s redistricting measure, Proposition 50.
Speaking to a cheering crowd, Siebel Newsom said she would not raise her four children to accept Trump as a legitimate leader.
“I will tell you right now, I will not raise my children to think Donald Trump is an acceptable American leader,” she said. “Nor that he is what the leader of our great country should behave like.”
She continued: “I won’t raise them to think his terror enables his power and that his greed equals success.”
Siebel Newsom went further, calling Trump “a con artist, a pred*tor, a malignant narcissist in chief, and the worst president in our nation’s history.”
She told the crowd she and her husband instead teach their children — Montana, 16; Hunter, 14; Brooklyn, 12; and Dutch, 9 — to speak up against bullying and always tell the truth.
“Maybe if Donald Trump’s parents had taught him any of these lessons, they wouldn’t be in this mess,” she said, drawing laughter from supporters.
The remarks quickly went viral, amplified by accounts including MeidasTouch. The Daily Beast said it contacted the White House for comment on her comments but did not report a response.
Siebel Newsom, a documentary filmmaker and former actress, has increasingly stepped into a political spotlight of her own as her husband is discussed as a potential 2028 presidential contender, with her sharp-edged remarks drawing both praise from Democrats and criticism from conservative commentators in the months since.
