"We find ourselves awash in an ocean of information online. This information ocean is getting more turbulent every single day. The only tools we have to navigate through this maelstrom are the critical thinking skills that we are trying to develop in people as scientists."

This week's quote is from Anu Ojha, co-director of the National Space Centre in Leicester, England:

marketing meme

A lot of people seem to be missing the point of this meme.
The concept of "real men do x" comes from decades of marketing. None of it has to do with "being a man". It is simply a marketing gimmick to control men's behavior.
"Real me drink beer" is an attempt to make men feel that if they don't drink beer, they are less of a man.
Same with the rest.
None of it is true.
All of it is marketing started to benefit someone in some way, usually financially.
The Jordan Petersons and Andrew Tates of the world use this tactic regularly.
Toxic masculinity is largely rooted in and created by the abundance of this sort of marketing...convincing men to conform and consume in a way that is beneficial to the marketer.

#Runaway from the Republican Party. They Hate Women. They Hate Blacks. They Hate Hispanics. They Hate Gays. They Hate Veterans. They Hate Young People. They Hate College Graduates. WHO IS LEFT???

Uneducated Old White Men...
and They are Dying Every Day.

Women Voting Republican Cartoon - Robert Crumb

Remember: ANTI-VAX LIES On The Internet Have Killed Off More Republicans Than Democrats. THANK YOU FOR DYING! We Certainly Don't Need People Like That in the Future...

More than 1.1 million Americans have died from COVID-19. It Seems that It Wasn't a "Democratic Hoax" After All... Trump Lied, People Died...

Studies have also found that more Republicans than Democrats have died from COVID-19. According to a study, excess death rates in Florida and Ohio were 76% higher among registered Republicans than Democrats from March 2020 to December 2021.

Covid death rates are higher among Republicans than Democrats, mounting evidence shows. Lower vaccination rates among Republicans could explain the partisan gap, but some researchers say mask use and social distancing were bigger factors.

I wonder what life form we will become after the singularity and the Internet Becomes Conscious? Lets Build Futureworld!

I really am enjoying internet access and expressing my opinions to the public.

I had a great NA meeting and I actually spoke. Often I am silent but the subject was doing service and I have practical experience doing service for fellow AA members in Chico.

I also have been writing an Autobiography for the Facebook Group. "Things I remember growing up in Los Gatos"

I was very active a couple of years ago in this group and uploaded everything I remembered but all those posts are not visible as Facebook only shows the last few weeks of data. THIS TIME, I'm saving a copy to my google blog, my wordpress site, tumblr, Pinterest, Deviant Art and twitter...

I'm also copying and pasting the best of vandergreg.com and updating the words to reflect my latest views... All my websites since 1997 have been saved at The Internet Archive...

When the Internet becomes conscious... it will have every opinion of mine and an autobiography so it can easily build... whatever life form comes after the singularity... I wonder what we will be called... MEME? IDURU?

I'm a big fan of science fiction but I'm even more enthusiastic about science face.
What's Kurzweil up to these days?

Let's build cities using Disney's original EPCOT Design. Concentric circles connected by monorails.

Workplaces in the center surrounded by home/shopping then parks and farms.

That way people would not waste so much time commuting to work. Less money spent on gas for cars, less air pollution, less global warming and fewer hurricanes. For example consider San Jose California. There is a lot of work available at computer companies. However there are not enough
homes for the people that work there. Many people commute over an hour from the bedroom communities of Santa Cruz or Tracy. If we moved the jobs closer to where the people live, the workers would be happier since they would not be spending an hour stuck in a traffic jam every morning before work. Also the employees would not be spending so much money on housing and automobile fuel. We could move offices by creating a database of where the employees live and
building new work locations near those locations. Under the current system, zoning laws seperate factories from homes. That made sense when factories caused air and water pollution and people did not want to live near that pollution. However, many jobs today are office work where people sit at desks and work on computers all day. No pollution at office jobs. We could have these employers move to the suburbs. Maybe they could use the abandoned shopping malls. Amazon's business model has caused traditional retail businesses to go bankrupt. It is simply more efficient to shop online and have the USPS deliver the products than for the shoppers dive to the shopping mall and buy the products there. I see that Amazon is planning to build a second headquarters where they will be hiring 50,000 people. A better plan would be to create 10 mini headquarters employing 5,000 people each. Each of these mini headquarters could use the EPCOT model. Experimental Planned City of Tomorrow. It's simply better.
