CONGRESSIONAL STANDOFF OVER CORONAVIRUS RELIEF LIKELY TO LAST UNTIL NOVEMBER.
Well, that makes sense if you're going to cancel the $600 per week and argue about $300 per week for 3 months. This faux argument generates a huge saving in the payout plan. In fact it saves $7740 or $3870 respectively. This is your typical congress… It’s not just the republicans, it the demos too. Instead of a compromise, the unemployed are losing the benefit of $50,000,000,00 (50 billion) in benefits. Or put in another way, by losing 3 months (Aug/Sep/Oct) of $300 benefits, unemployed basically are losing 60% of the potential benefit had the democrats not just gone with the $300 plan the republicans had proposed. Some benefit is always better than zero benefit, especially if the benefit is not retroactive.
Even if you are refusing the Senate bill because of the state and local stimulus not being adequate, at the same time, you are damaging the millions of unemployed by failing to negotiate.
Just another example of congress’s incompetence. Better to stand your ground and hurt your millions of constituents than to look weak by compromising right? WRONG!
If you are fighting this battle and you are in favor of holding out or in favor of bundling the different, controversial parts of this bill instead of separating them so as not to hold up one for the other, you are the problem and I will not support your re-election. I will support your opponent. I will attend your rallies and call you out and do my best to ensure you are not re-elected. It’s a movement. Be responsible. Stop the madness. Do what helps, not what hurts
