Thomas Jefferson is Suddenly "Not Worthy" Because He Owned Slaves... ABSURD! What About George Washington? He Owned Slaves TOO.

Headline: Thomas Jefferson statue to be removed from New York City Council chamber...

Adrienne Adams... a Light Skinned Black Woman
She Has Some White People as Ancestors...
Maybe Jefferson Himself?
or Maybe George Washington!

"Thomas Jefferson was a slaveholder who owned over 600 human beings," Councilmember Adrienne Adams, co-chair of the Black, Latino and Asian Caucus, said in a presentation before the commission. "It makes me deeply uncomfortable knowing that we sit in the presence of a statue that pays homage to a slaveholder who fundamentally believed that people who look like me* were inherently inferior, lacked intelligence, and were not worthy of freedom or rights."
*Well, Not Exactly Like You... People That Look Like You Worked in the House... and Were Treated Differently because they were the Master's Children.  Most were taught how to read and Write and were Given Names...
For Example: Most were Named Jefferson...

~~~~~~ (~);-} ~~~~~~
Having written that "all men are created equal" as the primary author of the Declaration of Independence, he also enslaved more than 600 people and fathered at least six children with Sally Hemings, a woman he enslaved.
Not everyone supported the removal of the statue. Sean Wilentz, a American history professor at Princeton University, wrote in a letter read to the commission: "The statue specifically honors Jefferson for his greatest contribution to America, indeed, to humankind."
https://news.yahoo.com/thomas-jefferson-statue-removed-york-152934678.html
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal,[Except Blacks and Women] that they are endowed by their Creator [Named Jesus, Allah, Yahweh, Odin, Thor, KRSNA, Buddha or a Thousand Other Names] with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.”[Unless your Pursuit uses Marijuana or Psychedelics as a Sacrament] - DANG... So Many Disclaimers...
If a statue of Jefferson is unfit for City Hall, so is the statue of George Washington, owner of 577 human beings. And if we accept the principle that it is a moral mistake to put two of the most influential early Americans on pedestals there, we should remove Washington from the former site of Federal Hall downtown. Rename Washington Heights and Washington Square. And if slaveholder-founders are unfit for honors in America’s largest city, what are we doing naming the nation’s capital, and dozens of cities and counties and streets and parks, after them? Valid Questions... You may find some answers reading about our founding Fathers on Wiki...
Renaissance Man. Thomas Jefferson was the primary author of the Declaration of Independence, first Secretary of State for the United States of America, and a complex, 19th-century man with a wide ranging impact on the very makeup of America itself.
https://www.monticello.org/house-gardens/ Monticello is the autobiographical masterpiece of Thomas Jefferson—designed and redesigned and built and rebuilt for more than forty years. Its gardens were a botanic showpiece, a source of food, and an experimental laboratory of ornamental and useful plants from around the world.
Map of the USA - Thomas Jefferson
Concerned about losing access to the port of New Orleans, in 1803 President Thomas Jefferson sent James Monroe and Robert Livingston to Paris to attempt to buy the city from France, authorizing them to offer France up to $10 million for it.
Meanwhile, Napoleon had concluded that it wasn’t worth the cost for France to try to hold onto its vast North American territory. So when Monroe and Livingstone arrived to commence negotiations, they were astonished when France offered to sell the United States not just New Orleans, but the entire Louisiana Territory. They did not have authority to negotiate any such deal, but when France offered the entire territory for only $15 million (only $5 million more than they were prepared to offer for New Orleans alone), the deal was too good for them to turn down. On April 30, 1803 they signed the Louisiana Purchase Treaty, by which the United States would acquire 828,000 square miles of land, at a price of three cents per acre (sixty cents per acre in current dollars). The deal would double the size of the United States. “This is the noblest work of our whole lives,” Livingston remarked.
When the commissioners returned to the United States with the remarkable treaty, Jefferson was amazed and delighted. But the road to ratification was anything but smooth. There were very serious objections to the constitutionality of the treaty and there was also the inconvenient fact that the United States didn’t actually have $15 million. But in the end, the proponents of the purchase prevailed, the U.S. borrowed the money from financiers in Great Britain, and on October 20, 1803 (two hundred eighteen years ago today) the Senate gave its advice and consent to ratification of the Louisiana Purchase Treaty—one of the best real estate bargains in history. “From this day the United States take their place among the powers of the first rank,” Livingston said.
Thanks to several great comments the post has been edited to clarify that the funds were loaned by financiers in Great Britain, not the British government.
Bernie Sanders’s $32 trillion Medicare-for-all plan is actually kind of a bargain. The federal government would spend a lot more money on health care, but overall US health spending would be about the same as otherwise projected.
Let's Cut Defense Spending in Half and Use The Money Currently Wasted to Pay for Medicare for All and Free College... Since the Military Has NOT ACTUALLY DEFENDED The USA since 1945, Why Spend Billions on Something we Do NOT USE? Since August 15th, 1945 [Victory in Japan Day] ALL WARS HAVE BEEN BOGUS... We have Invaded Foreign Countries and Taken Sides in THEIR Civil Wars. Remember Vietnam, Nicaragua, Iraq and Afghanistan? Why Did We Spend Taxpayer Dollars to Blow Those Countries UP? Corporate Profit! That's Why...
I asked Google and It's True. In Canada they wait Longer... Well, I don't want to wait longer! I'm 65 years old and I already HAVE Medicare. The Medicare For All plan would ADD YOUNG PEOPLE... and I don't CARE about them... Really... CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHY MEDICARE FOR ALL WOULD BE BETTER THAN WHAT WE HAVE NOW?
Maybe Medicare For All would be better for People under 65 but...
I Emailed Bernie Sanders but have not gotten a response... Maybe You Know the Answer...
On a Different Subject...
a Post of Mine Was Deleted from This Blog
because I Dared to Ask the FORBIDDEN QUESTION:
"Why do we allow fresh water from the
Sacramento River to flow into the Ocean?"
after all...
We Pump the Colorado River Dry before it Gets to the Ocean in Mexico... and No One Complains About THAT!
all the water from the Colorado River is used to Drink, Water Crops, Fill Swimming Pools, Shower, Water Animals and Make Ice Cubes for a Scotch on the Rocks Beverage...
SO... Someone Reported My Question to Google
and That Post was Deleted...
WE MUST ALLOW NO QUESTIONS!
OBEY THE ECOLOGY NUTS!
NO THINKING!
Sat Image of Sacramento River
Sacramento River Satellite Photo Google Maps - Delta - 2021 Here is a Post on that same subject that was NOT Deleted on Facebook... "I Wonder Why Fresh Water from The Sacramento River Flows into the Ocean? After All, The Colorado River is Pumped Dry.
We are Having a Drought Here in California... This Water COULD be used to Grow Crops, Water Livestock, Take Showers or Make Ice Cubes for a Scotch on the Rocks... But NO... It Flows Out into The Ocean at San Francisco... "
What IF? Would Pumping all that water out of the River and Into Fields that are Growing Crops Change the Climate of California's Central Valley... In the Summer, all that water would evaporate and then fall as rain when those clouds meet the Sierra Nevada Mountains... In General, the Wind Flows from West to East... WE NEED RAIN...
The Objection to Pumping the Sacramento River Dry is That Salmon Need the Water to Survive... and They Would Go Extinct... In That One River... Other Rivers, Like The Klamath and The Columbia and Rivers in Canada and Alaska would NOT Be Changed... and The Salmon Would Continue to Survive There... and... What IF Salmon Became Extinct? The Drought is The Western USA Is Putting Salmon in the Klamath River in Danger Right Now... Even With The Dams being Removed...
Top Ten Song List and a Quiz... My Favorites... Answers TOO!
1. "White Rabbit" by Jefferson Airplane... This is a hard choice because "Volunteers" is a fine song too, but I'll have to give that Wascally Wabbit her due... It was used in the book "Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas" by Hunter S. Thompson... The Lawyer, a Brain Full of LSD, a full bathtub and an AC electric appliance... were to 'become one' at the end of the song when Grace sings the words: "remember, what the dormouse said, _______ _______ ________."
QUIZ: what DID the dormouse say? We were supposed to remember... (answer at bottom of page).
2. "Climb every Mountain" by Rodgers and Hammerstein. sung by the nun in The Sound of Music... Inspirational, and she just NAILED that last note... I read that there are showings of an "audience participation" movie (like Rocky Horror) using the movie "Sound of Music".  People wear lederhosen, nun's habits and sing along with all the songs and make jokes about the dialog... I'd like to go to that!
QUIZ: What's her name?
3. "Immigrant Song" by Led Zeppelin... a Tale of Vikings and Valhalla... Plus, it's got a great beat and you can dance to it... and the lyrics... Robert Plant sings "aaaaooooh"... I also like all those OTHER Led Zep songs... "Stairway to Heaven", "Whole Lotta Love", "Kashmir" it's hard to find a Zep song I don't like... A satire is on the internet called Viking Kittens.
QUIZ: what other Led Zep song uses this same exact lyric... "aaaaooooh"
4. "Ain't no 'cane in the Brazos, they turned it all into molasses"  written by Leadbelly, sung by Rick Danko, Janis Joplin, Jerry Garcia, John Dawson (NRPS) and Bob Weir in the Festival Express Train movie... A true gem... relaxing on the Trans Canadian Railroad and singing to amuse themselves... I just put this on the list because of the casual, behind the scenes appeal of friends having fun together... the whole film is priceless...
QUIZ: The Festival Express Train went along the Trans Canadian Railway line. This Railroad was immortalized in what song by whom?
5. "Pocket Calculator" by KRAFTWERK... THE original techno beat song... imitated thousands of times by new wave bands, rap music artists, hip-hop, trance... rave... SYNTHESIZER DRUM MACHINES... changed the face of music forever.
QUIZ: What does the word KRAFTWERK mean in the German language ?
6. "Fixin’ to Die Rag" by Country Joe and the Fish... In my opinion (for what it's worth) this is the best anti-war sing along song... call and response... "Gimme an 'F', Gimme a 'U', Gimme a 'C', Gimme a 'K'...
QUIZ: what's that spell?  Two versions... in the studio and live at Woodstock. Really!
7. Whatever BEATLE song is playing right now... When they are singing a song on the radio, that song becomes "the best Beatle song ever'... until they play another Beatle song and then THAT one is "the best Beatle song ever". If I was forced to choose... I'd have to say "Yellow Submarine" because I have played it in public and been surrounded by people singing the chorus... in Chico, CA...
QUIZ: Has there been a band that has had MORE biography and documentation than The Beatles ? It seems like everyone that ever met them wrote a book, made a movie (Bee-Gees), formed a tribute band (The Monkees, Rain, The Rutles), used their name as a theme for a circus act (Cirque de Soleil) or built a website...
8. "Alice's Restaurant" by Arlo Guthrie... Do you remember the missing 18 1/2 minutes of Richard Nixon's Oval Office tapes... well, Arlo says that they were listening to Alice's Restaurant at the White House and Nixon got embarrassed about having a tape recording of them laughing and singing along with the chorus... so he had Rosemary Woods erase that part of the tape... Imagine Nixon, Liddy and Haldeman in three part harmony...
QUIZ: What can't you get at Alice's Restaurant ? What other song... uses the exact same chord progression ?
9. "This Land is Your Land" by Woody Guthrie... I've got to put him on the list because... a LOT of other people really learned from him... Bob Dylan, Pete Seeger, me... His wife tells a story of a trip she took to China... The school children were taught ONLY ONE American song to perform for her organization. There are many verses that are not in the official version.  Here is a Secret Verse:
"As I went Walking, I saw a sign,
and on that sign said NO TRESPASSING
on the other side it said NOTHING AT ALL
this side was made for you and me"
QUIZ: "Bound for Glory" movie... No Quiz... Just Remember all those Great Songs... Including... The Grand Coulee Dam!
10. "Truckin' " by The Grateful Dead... Winterland, 1974 during the filming of  "The Grateful Dead Movie"... I sure lucked out, they had a camera crew there to film my LSD trip...
QUIZ: How did Spinal Tap pay tribute to the Dead ?
 END OF TOP TEN LIST
~~~~~~ (~);-} ~~~~~~

answers to quiz:
1. The dormouse said "feed your head" in the song... In the book by Lewis Carroll "Alice in Wonderland" at the Mad Hatters Tea Party: `You might just as well say,' added the Dormouse, who seemed to be talking in his sleep, `that "I breathe when I sleep" is the same thing as "I sleep when I breathe"!'  This was part of a conversation about riddles. I have no idea WHY we are supposed to remember this...

2. The Mother Abbess was played by Peggy Wood in the movie with Julie Andrews.

3. All Led Zeppelin songs contain the lyric "aaaaooooh" somewhere in them... Even the instrumentals... Sorry, trick question...

4. Gordon Lightfoot wrote Canadian Railroad Trilogy as theme music for a CBC television show commemorating the l00th anniversary of the railroad...
The 'cain song is about Sugarcane farming in Texas. Prisoners were forced to work harvesting 'cane under slave like conditions. An astonishingly abusive system... The same county in Texas was the birthplace of Tom Delay, the disgraced House of Representatives leader... forced to resign due to being caught taking bribes.
LYRICS to the Leadbelly song...Ain't No More Cane
Ain’ no mo' cane on de Brazis
Oh...
Done groun' it all in molazzis,
Better git yo' overcoat ready,
Well, it's comin' up a norther.
Well, de captain standin' an' lookin' an' cryin',
Well, it's gittin' so col', my row's behin'.
Oh...
Cap'n doncha do me like you did po' Shine,
Drive dat bully till he went stone-blin'.
Oh...

5. KRAFTWERK means Electric power plant. The Simpsons Cartoon show had an episode (entitled KRAFTWERK) about a German corporation that wanted to buy the atomic power plant that Homer works at. When I watched the show, I was disappointed to find no techno-pop music... Just jokes about German Power Plants...
6. Gimme an 'F', Gimme an 'I', gimme an 'S', gimme an 'H'... what's that spell? FISH, what's that spell? FISH...of course, they spelled out the word "FISH" on the studio version... "FUCK" at Woodstock...

7. No... They still have the biggest fan club... however,
The Grateful Dead has had a huge quantity of biographies, documentaries, "from the Vault" record releases, wine label artwork by Garcia, neckties with artwork by Garcia and other "cash in on their fame" items. To top it all off... the court TV channel carried the proceedings from the trial contesting Jerry's WILL by most of his wives and a daughter... squabbling over the money... the only thing that has not been done is a Disney animatronics robot playing MIDI recordings of solos called "The amazing Mr. Jerry"... Like the Country Bear Jamboree...
ELVIS PRESLEY has also had a ridiculous amount of documentation and EBAY sales.

8.Alice. "You can get everything you want, at Alice's Restaurant, 'cepting Alice". The chord progression used in Alice's Restaurant also fits perfectly the Hot Tuna song "Keep on Truckin' MAMA, truck my blues away"... Maybe ALL blues songs use the same chords... These two sure do... I'm sure that musicians might disagree because they are in a different Key but they ARE very close.

9. No quiz. Just enjoy his legacy...

l0:  In the Movie Spinal Tap they had many exploding drummers... The Grateful Dead had many keyboard players. Ron McKernan (pigpen), Tom Constanten, Keith and Donna Godchaux, Brent Mydland, Vince Wellnic and Bruce Hornsby... Ron, Keith, Vince and Brendt died young... RIP... Tom excused himself because the Dead were not weird enough for him... He is still alive and looks great with white hair... Vince Welnic came to the Dead from The Tubes and was the last of The Grateful Dead keyboard players... They still tour as "Dead & Company" and there are a random assortment of players including Bob Weir, Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann... Phil Lesh Has His Own Band...

I Feel a LOT Patriotism for California but not much for the USA. I Believe that We Would All Be Better Off if The South was a Different Country. They Receive a Lot of Welfare Payments, Unemployment Checks and Food Stamps but Do Not Pay Much in Taxes.

 It's their Failed Economy that we are Bailing OUT... Year after Year after Year... Remember all those Brilliant Inventions Created in the South? Me Neither... OH! Wait, there was One... The Cotton Gin...

I Feel Even More Patriotism to the State of Jefferson... Southern Oregon and Northern California... YES, WE ARE DIFFERENT and Don't Have any Kinship with Kansas, Texas, Maine, West Virginia or Florida... I Feel Close to the People of Nimbin, Australia and Copenhagen and Amsterdam... But I don't Have Anything in Common with the Madmen in Washington, DC...

A Hand Drawn picture I drew in class... It was an art history class and I took detailed notes of who painted which painting by DRAWING THE PAINTING and then writing down their name...

I had a lot of free time because the teacher was showing maybe six pictures an hour... so I drew many portraits of the student sitting next to me... never did it end up looking like that student... so I didn't show them to her... BUT, ONE LOOKED LIKE GRACE SLICK!

I emailed this portrait of Grace Slick to the Jefferson Airplane Website and they posted it on the Fan Art Page. BY Greg Vanderlaan

https://youtu.be/C7R_eq3ukUo

One of the most powerful anthems of the Baby Boomer Generation. Written by Grace Slick. It's a retelling of Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland. It has a beat like Ravel's BOLERO. See the official video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WANNqr-vcx0

I was performing on the streets of Chico, California when a member of the audience showed me how to get the military beat by strumming using all four fingers... Thanks!
