Music Video: "I Like Trees, Big Old Trees" by Gregory Vanderlaan - Chords and Lyrics Provided So You Can Record this and Have a Hit Record.

[Chorus] I Like Trees, Big Old Trees [G, A, D]
They seem like Members of My Family.[Repeat]

Years Ago, I Lived in Eureka, California.
and Sat on a Tree in the Back Yard.
almost Every Day...

It was Just a Log... But It was MY Log...
Sat there and Smoked Tobacco...

Like the Native Americans,
I Have Always Smoked the Holy Places.
to Certify the Wisdom..

[CHORUS #2] It was MY Tree... It was MY Tree...
Not because I Bought the Land...
but Tree Because I sat on it...
More than Anyone Else.  [Repeat]

Of Course, I Had to Share My Tree with Meadow the Cat.
She Loved that Tree TOO... It was OUR Tree...

In the Redwood Forest... of Eureka, California
I always found time for a smoke... Even When it was Raining...
[Repeat Chorus]

Larimer Street by Utah Phillips... (They're Running The Bums Out Of Town) - Chords, Lyrics

Larimer Street by Utah Phillips

Verse:
A                               D
Your bulldozers rolling through my part of town
A                               E
The iron ball swings and knocks it all down,
A                               D
You knocked down my flophouse and you knocked down my bars
A                                E  A
And black-topped it over to park all your cars.

Chorus:
A                             D
And where will I go, and where can I stay?
A                               E
You knocked down the skid row and hauled it away,
A                              D
I'll flag a fast rattler and ride it on down, boys,
A                           E A
They're running the bums out of town.

Old Maxie the tailor is closing his doors,
There ain't nothing left in the secondhand stores,
You knocked down my hock shop and the big Harbor Lights
And the old Chinese cafe that was open all night.

Chorus

You ran out the hookers who worked on the street
And built a big club where the playboys can meet.
My bookie joint closed when your cops made a raid,
But you built a new hall for the stock market trade.

Chorus

These little storekeepers they don't have a chance
With the big uptown bankers a-calling the dance,
With their suit-and-tie restaurants that's all owned by Greeks
And the counterfeit hippies and their plastic boutiques.

Chorus

Now I'm finding out there's just one kind of war,
It's the one going on 'tween the rich and the poor.
Don't know a lot about what you'd call class
But the upper and middle can all kiss my ass.

Chorus

Video: "Aiko Aiko" traditional Mardi Gras Song designed to Dance to. With That Beat! Originaly Recorded by The Dixie Cups in 1965.

https://youtu.be/huxPOT8RxUo

In 1965 New Orleans girl group The Dixie Cups were recording for Leiber & Stoller’s Red Bird Records in a New York studio. They’d finished “Chapel of Love” and during a break the girls began singing a song they’d learned from their mother called “Iko-Iko,” a call and response chant of a Mardi Gras Indian tribe. http://performingsongwriter.com/mardi-gras-music/

Video: "Rainy Day Women #12 & 35" - Written by Bob Dylan sung by Gregory Vanderlaan

https://youtu.be/M-0FuQTzARk

The Lyrics say: "Everybody Must Get Stoned"... as always, Bob Dylan Lyrics have Multiple Meanings and you have to look in a mirror to grasp what he is trying to say... BUT, This one is pretty obvious to me... He's NOT talking about throwing rocks at people for bad behavior... Like they did in Biblical Times... Getting Stoned is slang for Smoking "The Kind Herb",  Marijuana...

Video: "Where Have All The Flowers Gone?" written by Pete Seeger sung by Gregory Vanderlaan

https://youtu.be/LLjpvJP9MmY

Classic Anti-War Protest Song. It circles around and starts again at the beginning. We go from flowers to soldiers to graveyards and back to flowers again.

This was one of the most requested songs of my "Miss Piggy Song Book" (a hand written set of lyrics and chords of my favorite hundred songs... with Miss Piggy and Kermit on the cover... It lived in my guitar case for decades... )

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Where_Have_All_the_Flowers_Gone%3F

Seeger created a song which was subsequently published in Sing Out in 1962. He recorded a version with three verses on The Rainbow Quest album (Folkways LP FA 2454) released in July 1960. Later,
Joe Hickerson added two more verses with a recapitulation of the first[3] in May 1960 in Bloomington, Indiana.[7]

Peace Sign made out of Rocks on Mount Shasta, California

Translation of the song "Guantanamera" as sung by Pete Seeger... and Guantanamericano-the hidden verses…”

I always was confused by the verse:

“Yo soy un puto frijelero nacio en el este de Los Angeles,
Yo soy un puto frijelero nacio en el este de Los Angeles…
Tengo demasiados hijos, ¿de dónde provienen sus ojos azules?”

But Cheech and Chong sang it so I could understand it...
OR you could copy and paste it into Google Translate!
(It's really offensive)

Or is it One Ton of Marijuana? - sung by Darryl Cherney and the Chernobyls!

actual song...
Guantanamera : ( Lady from Guantanamo, Cuba)
Yo soy un hombre sincero
De donde crecen las palmas
Yo soy un hombre sincero
De donde crecen las palmas
Y antes de morirme quiero
Echar mis versos del alma

(I am a truthful man,
From the land of the palm tree.
Before dying, I want to
Share these poems of my soul.)

[Chorus (after each verse):]
Guantanamera! Guajira!
Guantanamera!
Guantanamera! Guajira!
Guantanamera!

Mi verso es de un verde claro
Y de un carmin encendido
Mi verso es de un verde claro
Y de un carmin encendido
Mi verso es un ciervo herido
Que busca en el monte amparo

(My verses are light green,
But they are also flaming red.
My verses are like a wounded fawn,
Seeking refuge in the mountain.)

Con los pobres de la tierra
Quiero yo mi suerte echar
Con los pobres de la tierra
Quiero yo mi suerte echar
El arroyo de la sierra
Me complace mas que el mar

(With the poor people of this earth,
I want to share my lot.
The little streams of the mountains
Please me more than the sea.)

Lyrics to Great Sing Along Songs...

Yellow Submarine - The Beatles
In the town where I was born
there lived a man who sailed the sea.
And he told us of his life
in the land of submarines.
so he sailed up to the sun
'till we found a sea of green
and we lived beneath the waves
in the land of submarines...
We all live in a Yellow Submarine
a Yellow Submarine, a Yellow Submarine...
We all live in a Yellow Submarine
a Yellow Submarine, a Yellow Submarine...
and our friends are all aboard
many more of them live next door
and the band begins to play...
pa da da dump be dump be dum...
We all live in a Yellow Submarine
a Yellow Submarine, a Yellow Submarine...
We all live in a Yellow Submarine
a Yellow Submarine, a Yellow Submarine...
As we live a life of ease
every one of us has all we need.
Sky of Blue and Sea of Green
in our Yellow Submarine
We all live in a Yellow Submarine
a Yellow Submarine, a Yellow Submarine...
We all live in a Yellow Submarine
a Yellow Submarine, a Yellow Submarine...

Where have all the flowers gone?
Long time passing....
Where have all the flowers gone?
long time ago...
Where have all the flowers gone?
Young girls have picked them every one.
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn?
Where have all the young girls gone?
Long time passing...
Where have all the young girls gone?
long time ago...
Where have all the young girls gone?
gone for husbands every one.
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn?
Where have all the husbands gone?
Long time pasing...
Where have all the husbands gone?
Long time ago...
Where have all the husbands gone?
Gone for soldiers every one.
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn?
Where have all the soldiers gone?
Gone to Graveyards, everyone
Where have all the Graveyards gone?
Gone to flowers, everyone
[repeat first verse]

Blowing in the Wind - Bob Dylan
How many roads must a man walk down
Before you call him a man?
How many seas must a white dove sail
Before she sleeps in the sand?
Yes, and how many times must the cannon balls fly
Before they're forever banned?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind
The answer is blowin' in the wind
Yes, and how many years can a mountain exist
Before it's washed to the sea?
Yes, and how many years can some people exist
Before they're allowed to be free?
Yes, and how many times can a man turn his head
And pretend that he just doesn't see?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind
The answer is blowin' in the wind
Yes, and how many times must a man look up
Before he can see the sky?
Yes, and how many ears must one man have
Before he can hear people cry?
Yes, and how many deaths will it take 'till he knows
That too many people have died?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind
The answer is blowin' in the wind

This Land is Your Land - Woodie Guthrie
This land is your land, this land is my land
From the California to the New York island
From the Redwood Forest, to the gulf stream waters
This land was made for you and me
As I went walking that ribbon of highway
I saw above me that endless skyway
And saw below me that golden valley
This land was made for you and me
I roamed and rambled and I followed my footsteps
To the sparkling sands of her diamond deserts
And all around me , a voice was sounding
This land was made for you and me
When the sun comes shining, then I was strolling
In the wheat fields waving and dust clouds rolling
The voice was chanting as the fog was lifting
This land was made for you and me
This land is your land and this land is my land
From the California to the New York island
From the Redwood Forest, to the gulf stream waters
This land was made for you and me
As I went walking, I saw a sign there
On the sign it said 'No Trespassing'
But on the other side it didn't say nothing
That side was made for you and me!
In the shadow of the steeple I saw my people
By the relief office, I seen my people
As they stood there hungry I stood there asking
Is this land made for you and me?
Nobody living can ever stop me
As I go walking that freedom highway
Nobody living can make me turn back
This land was made for you and me
When the sun comes shining, then I was strolling
In wheat fields waving and dust clouds rolling
The voice come chanting as the fog was lifting
This land was made for you and me

Puff the Magic Dragon - Peter, Paul and Mary
Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called Honahlee
Little Jackie paper loved that rascal puff
And brought him strings and sealing wax and other fancy stuff
Oh, Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called Honahlee
Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called Honahlee
Together they would travel on a boat with billowed sail
Jackie kept a lookout perched on puff's gigantic tail
Noble kings and princes would bow whene'er they came
Pirate ships would lower their flag when puff roared out his name
Oh, Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called Honahlee
Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called Honahlee
A dragon lives forever but not so little boys
Painted wings and giant rings make way for other toys
One grey night it happened, Jackie Paper came no more
And puff that mighty dragon, he ceased his fearless roar
His head was bent in sorrow, green scales fell like rain
Puff no longer went to play along the cherry lane
Without his life-long friend, puff could not be brave
So Puff that mighty dragon sadly slipped into his cave
Oh, Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called Honahlee
Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called Honahlee

For What it's Worth: Steven Stills
There's something happening here
What it is ain't exactly clear
There's a man with a gun over there
Telling me I got to beware
it's time we stop, children, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
There's battle lines being drawn
Nobody's right if everybody's wrong
Young people speaking their minds
Getting so much resistance from behind
It's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
What a field-day for the heat
A thousand people in the street
Singing songs and carrying signs
Mostly say, hooray for our side
It's s time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Paranoia strikes deep
Into your life it will creep
It starts when you're always afraid
You step out of line, the man come and take you away
We better stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
