MEET VAL DEMINGS

Long before she would become Orlando's first female Chief of Police, Val Butler Demings learned from her parents about the American Dream. They didn't have much: two parents and seven children in a small wood-framed house in Jacksonville.

She took her first job at 14 as a dishwasher. Worked hard in school. Became the first in her family to go to college, working at a fast food restaurant to pay her way. She became a social worker, working to protect children in broken homes. Then, dismayed at a system that was leaving too many families behind, she signed up to become a police officer — an officer with a social worker's heart.

The North Jetty. Breakwaters that Protect the Channel into Humboldt Bay From the Pacific Ocean. Bring sensible shoes so we can walk to the end where the dolos are... be aware that sometimes the waves are so large that it would be dangerous to walk on the jetty... but you can watch from the top of the sand dunes.

I see that the rate of Americans having Children has gone down recently. I understand. Why would anyone want to curse a child with the type of world we are going to experience in the coming years. It's pretty obvious that we will have MORE forest fires, MORE Hurricanes, MORE Tornadoes and MORE FLOODS and DROUGHTS... More plastics Polluting the Ocean, More Toxic Waste in our water and air... More Poverty, Starvation and more Billionaires... There will come a point when JUST TURNING UP THE AIR CONDITIONER WILL NOT SOLVE GLOBAL WARMING. Sure, everyone can Move to Canada, Alaska and Siberia but... that plan only works for about twenty years.

Currently New York City is building DIKES all around Lower Manhattan to prevent the Ocean from Flooding Wall Street... The Big "U" goes from Harlem to Battery Park... But that does nothing for Queens, The Bronx or Brooklyn... Or New Jersey... Even the Super Rich were "Inconvenienced" when Hurricane Sandy flooded the Subways and the Underground Telephone lines... Computers could not communicate and that REALLY screwed up the Stock Market. You can't be "Limo Man" on a Flooded Street...

New Orleans is Flooded again... 5/17/2019 It's Underwater because it rained really hard in the Middle of the USA. The Mississippi drains land a Thousand Miles Wide and Two thousand Miles Tall.

Yep, it looks pretty bleak for people living in the future. Thankfully, I'm 65 years old and will be dead soon. There is NO real effort to stop driving cars all over everywhere polluting the air. What will life be like after a few billion people starve to death? We already see thousands of People fleeing Central America and Walking North... and Boat people crossing the Mediterranian... and Migration North from Iran and Syria...

I’m sorry but the following has turned into a rant (and was a reply I made to another post from a Facebook friend), “but hey, this is America”.....
I remember in high school and coming of age in the 60’s and 70’s, the feeling that the United States was progressively overcoming inherit problems like the lack of equal rights, the rights of all minorities, the rights of workers, the rights of women, the rights of all Americans and the hard working middle class realizing the dream of economic freedom. The rising of the American middle class was the awakening of free people everywhere.
There were no handouts!
We Americans earned this freedom and progressed, through our taxes, the retirement benefits of Social Security and Medicare and, through a joint commitment of our whole society, realized the benefits of these and other programs that inspired other free democratic peoples to enact similar programs & in many cases surpass them in their own countries. The problem in this country was we didn’t keep going, we didn’t keep working on problems that still existed, that we can always keep improving.
I am so disillusioned at our present state in this country. I have grandkids that will soon have to learn how to handle shootings in their own schools, a place of refuge & hope and learning for Christ’s sake!
Our Founding Fathers created a system that would enable future members of our society to always progress further to take on future problems and to become even more free while maintaining a strong vibrant country. Who the hell wants to return to some imaginary paradise time span? What would that be the 50’s, the 60’s, 1812, 1920, 1944 ad nauseum....
I’m sorry, but Newt Gingrich FU, Mitch McConnell FU, Paul Ryan FU, Donald Trump FU, people like you FU....
The American people are inherently good people, the polls on almost every issue show that Americans want to keep progressing to more equality, that we value diversity, that we want the best for each and every one of us, that we are compassionate towards our fellow Americans and people of other countries, that we value the natural beauty and wonder of the world we live in. It’s time we got back to the dreams of our Founders and continue to realize our potential!

Whew, sorry for the rant, “but hey, this is America”!!

According to a new report from the Washington Post, a major fall in the price of coffee has cut out a huge income source for Guatemalan farmers, helping to fuel the spike in migration to the United States. In the Sixties, the General Electric Corporation Built a ride for the 1964 World's Fair. It featured a Typical American Family traveling thru Time. Each diorama depicted a different era and the Technology Used by that Family to make life easier... Every time the audience rotated to view a new scene, they played the song... The Goal of the exhibit was to show how GE Technology had improved the quality of life for YOU and I... The exhibit was moved to Disneyland and EPCOT after the World's Fair Ended.

The '64 World's Fair was also used as a set for the movie 'Men in Black'. Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones protected the Earth from Aliens.

Something my Mom taught me...

Mom said that there is a concept called "self fulfilling prophesy". Her example: If you get a TATOO that says "BORN TO LOSE" you will. Be careful what you believe. Your beliefs can influence your future... If you find that your beliefs are wrong, change them... THINK FOR YOURSELF !

I was thinking about this because I was at an AA meeting and one of the other people was talking about the FOUR NOBLE TRUTHS OF BUDDHISM. The person talking actually got the "TRUTHS" totally wrong but it did make me think...

A concept that always seemed idiotic is: PREMARITAL SEX IS A SIN. Someone in a Christian Church expressed this ABSURD philosophy to me. They seemed to feel that people should not do things that are a "SIN". INSANE! I have TESTED their belief and found out that they are INCORRECT. IT IS BIG FUN! Avoid believing Religions that teach concepts that are OBVIOUSLY FALSE. THINK FOR YOURSELF... I wonder if this is REALLY in the Bible or did some preacher JUST MADE IT UP?

There are some aspects of Christianity that make NO sense. For example: Forgiveness of sin. They say that if you commit a sin and then ask for forgiveness, then you can go to heaven. RIDICULOUS! No wonder it is the preferred religion of the MAFIA! Check out how this works... On Monday, a person sells heroin to elementary school kids. On Tuesday, a person goes to church and says: "Forgive me father for I have sinned"... PRESTO=CHANGO all is forgiven and that person can go to heaven. On Wednesday, that person commits murder. On Thursday, he goes to church and say: "aw shucks, I sinned again... forgive me daddy"... a MIRACLE HAPPENS AND THE MURDERER IS FORGIVEN AND CAN SING WITH THE ANGELS FOR ALL ETERNITY... On Friday, the person HAS SEX with an adult that he is not married to... They have BIG FUN... On Saturday, they Have SEX again, because they really like to. On Sunday, they both go to Church and say: "forgive us father, for we had FUN". THE PRIEST (a known pedophile) says all is forgiven and they all go to Heaven. On Monday, The MAFIA guy sells heroin to elementary school kids, the Priest *&*##$@*** the kids and the weekly cycle continues... WHAT AN ABSURD SYSTEM...It seems to me that we ought to PUNISH murderers... NOT FORGIVE THEM !

AVOID BELIEF SYSTEMS THAT ARE OBVIOUSLY FALSE.
A better system would be to take people that DO BAD THINGS and reincarnate them as a flea. Then they would have to live a thousand lifetimes as a flea before they got promoted to human. KARMA. "My Karma ran over your Dogma"...

I like the practice of communion... You eat a sacred wafer and meet GOD. I've done that. It works! At MY CHURCH, we eat a wafer that is laced with LSD-25...
Yes, its true, I have met GOD personally.
(or at least I Truly Believed that I Met God at the time...) MY CHURCH WORKS... If you have not met GOD, discard your obsolete religion and get one that ACTUALLY WORKS...
