When It's Too Cold, Turn Off the Air Conditioning... We Could Save a LOT of Electricity if OSHA Didn't Require That Public Buildings Run The A/C When It's Already Too Cold.

At Work We Had the Freedom to place an Electric Space Heater under our Desks. So the Air Conditioning was Running AT THE SAME TIME as the Space Heaters. Using Vast Amounts of Power... as the Heaters Fought the Coolers!

About Half the Time, the Weather Outside is Fine... No Need to Run an Air conditioner OR a Heater... Just Leave those Machines OFF, Using Zero Energy. Just Open a Window and Enjoy the Fresh Air...  

In Modern Office Buildings The Windows Do Not Open and The Thermostat is Set by OSHA Regulation. 

I worked for Years in an Office Where the Thermostat was Locked inside a Box to Prevent Employees from Changing the Temperature. OFTEN The Setting was WRONG and People took Action to Correct it. 

We Found that The Plastic Box Around the Thermostat Could be Defeated Using a Fingernail File... Look at YOUR Thermostat in YOUR Office... so we changed the temperature AND NEVER TOLD THE BOSS... "It's Magic! I Have NO IDEA How The Thermostat Changed... " and It's a Classic Example of a MAN designing a Machine and TOTALLY FORGETTING THAT A COMMON TOOL could defeat the Machine... Because Only a WOMAN has a Fingernail File in her Purse... HA HA!

⛽️ TIPS ON PUMPING GAS THAT WILL SAVE YOU $$$
1️⃣ Only buy or fill up your car or truck in the early morning when the ground temperature is still cold. Remember that all service stations have their storage tanks buried below ground. The colder the ground the more dense the gasoline, when it gets warmer gasoline expands, so buying in the afternoon or in the evening....your gallon is not exactly a gallon. In the petroleum business, the specific gravity and the temperature of the gasoline, diesel and jet fuel, ethanol and other petroleum products plays an important role.
2️⃣ A 1-degree rise in temperature is a big deal for this business. But the service stations do not have temperature compensation at the pumps.
3️⃣ When you're filling up do not squeeze the trigger of the nozzle to a fast mode If you look you will see that the trigger has three (3) stages: low, middle, and high. You should be pumping on low mode, thereby minimizing the vapors that are created while you are pumping. All hoses at the pump have a vapor return. If you are pumping on the fast rate, some of the liquid that goes to your tank becomes vapor. Those vapors are being sucked up and back into the underground storage tank so you're getting less worth for your money.
4️⃣ One of the most important tips is to fill up when your gas tank is HALF FULL. The reason for this is the more gas you have in your tank the less air occupying its empty space. Gasoline evaporates faster than you can imagine. Gasoline storage tanks have an internal floating roof. This roof serves as zero clearance between the gas and the atmosphere, so it minimizes the evaporation. Unlike service stations, here where I work, every truck that we load is temperature compensated so that every gallon is actually the exact amount.
5️⃣ Another reminder, if there is a gasoline truck pumping into the storage tanks when you stop to buy gas, DO NOT fill up; most likely the gasoline is being stirred up as the gas is being delivered, and you might pick up some of the dirt that normally settles on the bottom.
6️⃣ Note: If the pump repeatedly shuts off early, it could be a sign of a problem with the vapor recovery system, such as a clogged carbon canister.”

Here at the Kinder Morgan Pipeline where I work in San Jose , CA we deliver about 4 million gallons in a 24-hour period thru the pipeline.. One day is diesel the next day is jet fuel, and gasoline, regular and premium grades. We have 34-storage tanks here with a total capacity of 16,800,000 gallons.

The Concept of Generating Power in One Central Location and Distributing it to the User is Quite Wasteful... Some Electricity JUST VANISHES over the Long Distance... and DANGEROUS because the Wires Start Forest Fires... PG&E Power Company Just Burned the Entire Town Of Paradise, CA... and It Caused the Company to Go Bankrupt. Distributing Power From a Central Generator is an Obsolete Idea. What if Every House had Solar Panels on the Roof That Provided Enough Electricity to UNPLUG FROM THE GRID...

Thanks. I Had Not Seen this Article... I went to Humboldt State University... where the author teaches... 

In general, I Have a Feeling of Hopelessness about climate change... I figure that we will have forest fires every summer in California and the entire western USA for the next 20 years and by then... all the forests will be gone replaced by cactus... We will All be Living in the desert... Drought instead of crops in the Central valley... 

There is a Great need to Stop driving cars, trucks, vans... or at least reduce travel by 50% or More... Stop flying in Jet airplanes entirely. Stop eating Bacon, Ham, Hamburgers and steaks... Methane IS a Greenhouse gas and Livestock Causes Methane... 

absolutely NONE of those actions are being done... as soon as the Coronavirus was "over" there were massive crowds at airports... 

and... the only real solution for me is to move to Eureka or Arcata California... It seems that the Climate within one mile of the ocean is NOT going to burn... Oregon, Washington, British Columbia or Alaska will be survivable... the Rest of the Country is Doomed... 

anyway... It's pretty damn smoky here in Orangevale... I'm staying indoors all the time and running the Air Conditioner... Listening to Science Fiction books being read Out Loud... a Total Escape from  reality...  

During the Late 1990s I was working at the Saratoga Ave Radio Shack during EL NINO... It was amazingly depressing to experience Rain, Rain, Rain every day... So... To Raise my spirits... My Father offered to buy me a Boat Ride down the Colorado River thru the Grand Canyon... WELL... Since the water was at the highest level in YEARS... I Declined... It Just seemed too damn dangerous... SO, I Took a Week in Las Vegas instead... and Rode the Rides... Played some Slots and Drank a Lot... The Star Trek Ride at the Hilton was EPIC. First, there was a Trekkie Decorated Casino and then... when we actually rode the ride... it simulated a Battle in Space with Klingons... and the Chairs moved a LOT when the Bombs Exploded... I also watched the Naval Battle at Treasure Island (Like in the Movie Miss Congeniality 2), Rode the Roller Coaster at New York New York... Danced to the song Aiko-Aiko At The Mardi Gras at the RIO but... I Refused to Ride the Roller Coaster at the StratosFEAR Tower... TOO MUCH! I Got in Line but Chickened out... and... All Along the Main Road... Flashing Lights... Much better than risking drowning in the Colorado River...

I must tell you about the time I wrote the Slogan "The Only Real Lines on the Map are Coastlines." I Was Waiting in my car for my wife to get thru shopping at the Dollar Store... While Gazing at the HAPPY DONUTS store across the Street... The Idea POPPED into my Mind Fully Written and Illustrated with the Photo of the Whole Earth... That's the true benefit of working at Zazzle creating Gifts... Whenever I Have a Spare Moment, I Can Design Art and Words... Often I Design Art While Dreaming or Just Lying Down in the Twilight Zone between being Awake and Being Asleep... Remember: Borders Between Countries are Totally Fake and CAUSE a Lot of Trouble...
