A sitting U.S. president who can’t stop attacking black and brown people. A never-ending trade war that has necessitated more than one multibillion-dollar farm bailout. A humanitarian crisis on the border of his own state. These are just a handful of the many issues that Senator Ted Cruz could be focused on. Instead, he’s currently devoting his efforts to a much more important cause: demanding another tax cut for the rich, this time without Congress’s approval.

In a letter sent to Steve Mnuchin on Monday, the senator from Texas urged the Treasury Secretary to use his “authority” to index capital gains to inflation, a move that would almost exclusively benefit the mega-rich. Claiming, falsely, that the United States economy “has experienced historic levels of growth as a result of Congress and the current administration’s policies such as the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act,” Cruz insists that it is now crucial for the Treasury Department to adjust capital gains for inflation “so that everyday Americans can continue to enjoy better lives and livelihoods.” And by “everyday Americans,” he of course means (but doesn’t say) the spectacularly wealthy.

Missing from Cruz’s call for Mnuchin to use “executive authority” to end this “unfair” treatment of taxpayers, which was signed by 20 of his Republican colleagues, is the fact that, according to the Penn Wharton Budget model, a whopping 86% of the benefit of indexing capital gains to inflation would go to the 1 percent (and reduce annual tax revenue by an estimated $102 billion over a decade). Perhaps seeking to address this criticism, Cruz claimed that changing how capital gains are taxed “would…unlock capital for investment, increase wages, create new jobs, and grow the economy, benefiting Americans across all income levels.” In other words, he’s arguing that the executive branch should give the super-rich another tax cut and it’ll benefit everyone because of trickle-down economics which—checks notes—has never actually worked. Including in the case of the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.

Another very likely scenario is that tRUMP will declare the 2020 Election Null and Void due to "Fraud" or "Fake News", or "WAH! Nobody Likes Me" or Some Lame Excuse... It's Fake Because I didn't Win! He declared the 2016 Election Rigged... and then when He Won the Electoral College, everything was Great! No Possibility that Hillary got more actual votes... No Possibility that Russia made him win... No Possibility that The Emperor Has No Clothes... He Lives in a Total Fantasy World... and Brainwashed TrumpNiks and #MAGAKillers believe his LIES... I wonder if they feel that "Being a Gullible Fool" is a BULLET POINT on their Resume... Here is a Revelation told to me by a Vietnam Veteran friend. It was not his fault that his men died in combat. It was JFK and LBJ that put them in harm's way. If we had not gone halfway around the world to fight someone else's civil war, those men would be alive. This understanding helped with my friend's PTSD.

One thing I learned from the book "Will" by Gordon Liddy. He states that we could have won the Vietnam War if we had simply ATTEMPTED to win. I'm Reading a sequel to 'Ender's Game' by Orson Scott Card. This book is Great! 'Ender in Exile' ... Two (2) predictions of his that came true already.
1. We would Fight War by Remote Control... like a Video Game... like DRONES... 2. Ender's brother and sister publish thoughtful essays on the 'net' as 'Locke' and 'Demosthenes' and influence public opinion and therefore political policy... kinda like Huffington Post, anonymous, online Cannabis Activists or Cop Block... self appointed sages online... Me too...

We have to thank President Nixon for ending the Vietnam War. He Campaigned on Ending the war and KEPT HIS PROMISE!

Nixon's Idea was Vietnamization of the War. Simply put, Let those people over there fight their own civil war... It's really none of our business.

Our DNA is evolving every generation... Not Just Physically but also Spiritually... By studying the mistakes my parents and grandparents made, I can recognise them and not repeat them... And this is not just me...

Greg Vanderlaan: I read a lot of history books, VK and while Richard Nixon campaigned against the war in Vietnam in 1968 he didn't actually end it until 1973... so he had 5 years of blood on his hands too... When we got to vote in 1972, both candidates were against the war... An insightful book is 'Will' by G. Gordon Liddy... and ALL of Bob Woodward's Books.
