Born into slavery around 1760, James Armistead lived most of his life on a plantation in New Kent, Virginia. During the American Revolution, however, James received permission from his master, William Armistead, to enlist in the Marquis de Lafayette’s French Allied units. Here, the army dispatched Armistead as a spy, playing the role of a runaway slave to gain access to General Cornwallis’s headquarters. Because Armistead was a native Virginian with extensive knowledge of the terrain, the British received him without suspicion. After successfully infiltrating British intelligence, Armistead floated freely between the British and American camps. As a double agent, he relayed critical information to Lafayette and misleading intel to the enemy. Oblivious to his true intentions, the British assigned Armistead to work under the notorious turncoat, Benedict Arnold. By helping Arnold maneuver his troops through Virginia, Armistead gained significant insight into the Redcoats’ movements.
Several of Armistead’s finest acts occurred in 1781, during a critical moment in the Revolution—the Battle of Yorktown. The spy informed Lafayette and Washington about approaching British reinforcements, which allowed the generals to devise a blockade impeding enemy advancements. This success resulted in the final major victory for the colonists when Lord Cornwallis surrendered on October 17, 1781.
Though Americans celebrated freedom throughout the United States at the end of the war, James Armistead returned to life as a slave. His status as a spy meant that he did not benefit from the Act of 1783, which emancipated any slave-soldiers that fought for the Revolution.
As a result, Armistead began the process of petitioning Congress to fight for his freedom. After several years without success, Armistead received help from an old comrade in arms, the Marquis de Lafayette. Upon learning that Armistead remained enslaved, Lafayette wrote a letter to Congress on his behalf. Armistead received his manumission in 1787.
Living off his annual pension fee, Armistead moved to his own 40-acre farm in Virginia, where he married, raised a family, and lived out the rest of his life as a freeman. Armistead added Lafayette to his name as a token of gratitude and a testament to the bond the former slave and French general shared.
The two crossed paths again during Lafayette’s grand tour of the United States in 1824, where the general picked James out of a crowd and cordially embraced him. James Armistead Lafayette died in 1832.

My Trip to Las Vegas During "El Nino" in the 1990s, (Autobiography) My Father Bought Me a Vacation. Truly a Blessing Because The Endless Rain Was Depressing.

My Travel Agent Booked me in a No-Name Motel Right on Las Vegas Boulevard Between Circus Circus and New York New York. Within Walking Distance to Everything. 

My Main Goal was to Ride the Star Trek Simulator at the Hilton. It Has a Trekkie themed Casino/Sports Betting Lounge for Me to Wait in Until it was time to Ride the Ride.

Throwing Beads... and the Waitresses were Beautiful and Served Free Drinks as Long as I was Playing a Slot Machine... 

I rode the Roller Coaster at New York New York and Enjoyed Whooshing Past the Giant Statue of Liberty... Then Inside the Casino there was a Billy Joel Imitator Playing "Piano Man."

I walked over to the STRATOSFEAR Tower and Got in Line for the Roller Coaster at the Top... BUT I SELECTED TO NOT GO. I Have Limits to How mush Fear I want to Experience and... I Never Rode a Roller Coaster Again... Ever... Anywhere... 

My Motel Had a FREE "Bloody Mary Fountain" pouring Booze 24 Hours a Day and I Did Drink whenever I was Near... But I was Not Near Very Much... I was Mostly Visiting Rides... and Casinos... Circus Circus Had an Excellent Buffet and That was My Main Source of Food. Yes, They DID Have a High Wire Trapeze Act on the Ceiling... 

I Remember FLASHING NEON LIGHTS... Like the Hallucinations of an LSD Trip Without Actually Eating the Drug... Fantastic!

What I really like is watching many episodes in a row... It puts me in a Hypnotic Trance... So Far I have not contacted any Aliens Myself but... one time I was driving home from work in Northern Virginia and I saw TWO Lights in the Sky at Sunset... I chased the lights and when I got near , I got out of the car and... Heard the motorcycle engine... so disappointing... someone had installed a propeller and an engine to a hang glider and what I saw was two automobile headlights.

One of my co-workers' Father saw a UFO. He worked as a pilot and reported an unidentifiable object in the sky... he filed a report with the FAA and they filed the report... and... nothing happened. I assume that there are thousands of reports... but... what can anyone really do about them?

On the TV News I saw a real ufo as viewed on the cockpit display and... millions of people saw that report... but... once again, nothing really happened... no mass panic...

It is very difficult to write a song about UFOs or a Post Apocalypse Techno Industrial Wasteland but Cat Stevens, Neil Young, Bowie and Paul Kantner have done it well.

What are those songs about anyway? Some lyrics have been debated for decades... here is my interpretation.

Wooden Ships tells the story of two people from opposite sides of a war that become friends and survive due to cooperation. After an Atomic War, food is often radioactive... so the sharing of purple berries makes the difference... the survival of the human race. Lucky for us, this song was recorded by BOTH the Jefferson Airplane and Crosby Stills and Nash. Done during the time they all worked in the Mansion on Fulton Street. The house had a recording studio in the basement... and was THE SCENE.

MKULTRA: was a CIA Mind Control Project in the USA during the 1950's and 1960's. They were looking for a way to use drugs as weapons of war. For example: LSD as a truth serum to aid in interrogation or as a way to simply get the "enemy" to lay down their arms, voluntarily... like, too stoned to fight...

The project conducted tests on college students at Stanford University. Ken Kesey,  Stewart Brand and Robert Hunter all volunteered to eat LSD and other mind control drugs and report on the effects. Later, Ken started having "ACID TEST" parties where the participants took LSD and danced to the Music of the Grateful Dead. Robert Hunter wrote lyrics for the Dead.

Here is a Bit of American History You were not Taught at School... 

Mary Pinchot Meyer gave LSD to JFK and then he decided to end the Vietnam War in 1963. Defense Contractors had him assassinated to protect their profits. Mary was a girlfriend of JFK and she was part of a movement to give LSD to the Leaders of the World.

The top scientists, business leaders, artists, poets, actors, politicians, writers, musicians and athletes were to be given LSD and then they would use what they learned to rebuild society. The cosmic knowledge was to be distributed from the top down in order to create a better world.

We will never know if this is true or Just a Conspiracy Theory... Mary did keep a diary and right after she was assassinated, her friend Washington Post Editor Ben Bradlee took the diary to The CIA and they BURNED IT!
