First and foremost I am proud to be an American and that the grateful dead originated in the United States of America. I have a college degree in psychology and sociology.in doing so over the years I have learned much about myself as well as the people that surround me. The introduction of the Internet and social media has changed everyones life. As is known change is a constant in this world and we all have to adapt at at one time or another. Yes, I am of the elder generation now but I was young once as were you. I chose to be with the best and wisest people I could meet at dead shows and learned to appreciate the music that feeds us all. As a whole looking at the big picture alot of people still want to experience a dead show because it is a special thing. I respect that. I was blessed to see the band many times front row. I wouldn't trade those memories for anything. I am thankful to feel part of the family. Things have changed. God bless the original members of the band for keeping the fire going. All I ask is that for those newbies to respect the elders who are there truly for the music. It's like a religion. It's not all about the drugs. All comments welcome.

Religion is an existential threat to humanity... because it has been weaponized by those who believe in it. Simply, supporting and believing in it does us no justice in the bigger picture of stewardship of our planet. In fact it holds us back.
Look, the only way out of this is to make it cease to exist. And learn from it. Realize as a populace that it is a form of indoctrination (and therefore brainwashing).
Actually, to me it seems as if religion is already imploding, perhaps with the spread of the abundance of information being passed via the internet. For sure, information is power.
Sometimes I wonder if we will see the discovery of intelligent alien life during our lifetimes. Like out in the open info where no one can deny their existence. Certainly that would be the final nail in the coffin of organized religions, would it not?
'Certainly' may be a reach. Admittedly.
In my mind, the Conservative Movement remains the foremost threat to our democracy and likely our entire future. The climate isn't waiting for us to take ourselves out... it is actively changing before our eyes and we are doing little to change ourselves. It makes us wonder why they would call them Conservatives. They ain't conserving anything other than their dying ideology stemming from systemic racism and religious bigotry. And what we need instead is to move forward and learn how to adapt to what is coming.
There's some certainty in if they win the day though. Because certainly we will never make it if the conservative movement moves takes full control of our government which moves us backwards. We will eventually cease to exist due to our own accord. No, the only way to get through this is to bring truth to the table and vote out those who would have us thrown in prison (just because we vote differently). Vote those out who hide behind the bully (pulpits)... for they are the weak ones.
The most important election of our lifetimes is right around the corner. Definitely resembles good vs. evil in my book (i'm an ex-catholic, recovering).
Bu if we elect rational human beings capable of empathy and critical thinking... who is critical of faith-based philosophies (the cause of so many wars and hardships) - but which can work with the other side a bit - then we stand a chance to see our way through this dark era of the MAGA movement in our country. And perhaps then the world... would follow and revert to more liberal policies which provide safety nets and more thoughtfulness to the climate. And we could tax the churches and use that money to help the local communities and provide shelters to the homeless, with prospects as incentives.
But the ...as evidenced by... examples continue to pop up all around us - on the dailey. And what it really comes down to is we simply need to do more to stop and even reverse the damages we've done to our planet and the species on it.
Enter Science. Because we don't figure shit out by praying.

Should Psychedelics be Legalized? My Opinion is Medicinal Psychedelics Should Be Legal. Many people have benefitted from The Psychedelic Experience when considering Mortality... Others have NOT. The man who had a Travel/Cooking Show on CNN Committed Suicide... Anthony Bourdain says that as a young man he ate Orange Sunshine brand name LSD... I would think that would PREVENT suicide...  I guess I was wrong...

Legalization would improve the QUALITY and PURITY of Psychedelics. Often Illegal Drug Salesmen sell DOM and Call it LSD... DOM causes a Three Day Trip that most people find so unpleasant that they go to the Hospital... Desperate to Stop Tripping... If SANDOZ Labs were making the LSD we could be assured of getting PURE Quality and a KNOWN DOSE. Some people find that 100 micrograms is a great trip but 400 micrograms is JUST TOO MUCH. Consumers would be given the choice of how much to take. When I was a teenager many doses were 400 mics but by the 1990s 100 mics was standard... OR THAT'S WHAT THEY SAY... I have no IDEA what I was eating...

I did not know the ANSWER to that question because to ME, it was Paisley... so I lied and told him it was Blue.

FOR ME, Smoking Marijuana is not good... When available, I smoke all day every day... When Oregon Legalized, I smoked One Pound in Eight Months. Then I Stopped Smoking and took a driving vacation to The Deserts of Nevada. Can't have an Illegal Drug in the Van... I always met Police. SO, NO Withdrawal Symptoms like with Addictive Drugs Like Tobacco or Opium. However I DID Remain Stoned for about a Month. I DID See things that Were Not There. I DID Make Decisions based on Events That Did Not Happen... OOPS...

and another thing... Since I quit Smoking I have made 53 Music Videos of me Singing and Playing the Guitar... While I was Smoking I Made 4... AND While Playing the Piano Stoned I use too much foot pedal... and the rhythm is not smooth... even while playing composition I wrote myself... my brain was having difficulty remembering what chord came next.

I did a Scientific Study of Drugs and Chess Playing Ability. I Had a Chess Computer that would play at different levels... I played on different drugs... Coffee made me a better player, Marijuana and Alcohol made me worse. I couldn't play at all on LSD... The experiment was not interesting.

Alcohol is TRULY a Dangerous Drug. Thankfully I Joined AA in the year 2000. Quit Drinking, met a lot of Interesting People. Married one of them. In the end stages of Alcoholism a person Gets Delirium Tremens... a horrible hallucinatory nightmare world... That's what they say.
