History: Youth Walks for Survival - An Ecology Fundraiser in Berkeley, CA in 1970. We asked Sponsors for a Nickle per Mile (or a Dime) and Hiked 20 Miles...

We Started at the Football Stadium on the UC Campus then Walked around Lake Merritt in Oakland and then Back to The Stadium. The Last Part was Uphill and a Real Struggle...

I Wonder Who Got the Money We Raised and What they Did With It...  I was a High School Student in Los Gatos (about 50 miles away) at that time. Did We Rent a Bus? Carpool?

After We Finished the Walk There was a Concert With Malvina Reynolds Singing "Boxes, Little Boxes"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Cjk0zst3Cs

Lyrics: Chords: E, A, B7
Little boxes on the hillsideLittle boxes made of ticky tackyLittle boxes on the hillsideLittle boxes all the same
There's a pink one and a green oneAnd a blue one and a yellow oneAnd they're all made out of ticky tackyAnd they all look just the same
And the people in the housesAll went to the universityWhere they were put in boxesAnd they came out all the same
And there's doctors and lawyersAnd business executivesAnd they're all made out of ticky tackyAnd they all look just the same
And they all play on the golf courseAnd drink their martinis dryAnd they all have pretty childrenAnd the children go to school
And the children go to summer campAnd then to the universityWhere they are put in boxesAnd they come out all the same
And the boys go into businessAnd marry and raise a familyIn boxes made of ticky tackyAnd they all look just the same
There's a pink one and a green oneAnd a blue one and a yellow oneAnd they're all made out of ticky tackyAnd they all look just the same

The Unanimous Declaration of Interdependence 1

The Unanimous Declaration of Interdependence 2

Cliff Humphrey both drew upon and utterly revised the “Declaration of Independence” to create this crucial founding document of the environmental movement. With its calligraphy, the “Declaration of Interdependence” looked like Thomas Jefferson’s document, and with its syntax it sounded like it too. But Humphrey’s manifesto suggested that the world needed to break with the attractive illusion of “independence” and be governed by a new principle—”interdependence”—if it wished to be aligned with the laws of nature.

Full Text of “The Declaration of Interdependence”

When in the course of evolution it becomes necessary for one species to denounce the notion of independence from all the rest, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the interdependent station to which the natural laws of the cosmos have placed them, a decent respect for the opinions of all mankind requires that they should declare the conditions which impel them to assert their interdependence.

We hold these truths to be self-evident that all species have evolved with equal and unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

——— That to insure these rights, nature has instituted certain principles for the sustenence of all species, deriving these principles from the capabilities of the planet’s life-support system.

——— That whenever any behavior by members of one species becomes destructive of these principles, it is the function of other members of that species to alter or abolish such irrelevant behavior and to reestablish the theme of interdependence with all life, in such a form and in accordance with those natural principles that will effect their safety and happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that cultural values long established should not be altered for light and transient causes, that mankind is more disposed to suffer from asserting a vain notion of independence than to right themselves by abolishing that culture to which they are now accustomed.

——— But when a long train of abuses and usurpations of these principles of interdependence, evinces a subtle design to reduce them, through absolute despolation of the planet’s fertility, to a state of ill will, bad health, and great anxiety, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such notions of independence from other species and from the life-support system and to provide new guards for the reestablishment of security, and maintenance of these principles. Such has been the quiet and patient sufferage of all species, and such is now the necessity which constrains the species homo sapiens to reassert the principles of interdependence.

——— The history of the present notion of independence is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations all having in direct effect the establishment of an absolute tyranny over life. To prove this let facts be submitted to a candid world.

——— 1. People are proliferating in such an irresponsible manner as to threaten the survival of all species.

——— 2. People have refused to recognize that they are interacting with other species in an evolutionary process.

——— 3. People have fouled the waters that all life drinks of and they have fouled the air that all life partakes of.

——— 4. People have transformed the face of the earth to enhance their notion of independence from it and in so doing have interrupted many natural processes that they are dependent upon.

——— 5. People have contaminated the common household with substances that are foreign to the life processes which are causing many organisms great difficulties.

——— 6.  People have massacred and extincted fellow species for their feathers and fur, for their skins and tusks.

——— 7.  People have persecuted most persistantly those known as coyote, lion, wolf, and fox because of their dramatic role in the expression of interdependence.

——— 8. People have warred upon one another which has brought great sorrow to themselves and vast destruction to the homes and the food supplies of many living things.

——— 9. People have denied others the right to live to completion their interdependencies to the full extent of their capabilities.

We therefore, among the mortal representatives of the eternal process of life and evolutionary principles, in mutual humbleness, explicitly stated, appealing to the ecological consciousness of the world for the rectitude of our intentions, do solemly publish and declare that all species are interdependent, that they are all free to realize these relationships to the full extent of their capabilities; that each species is subservient to the requirements of the natural processes that sustain all life.

——— And for the support of this declaration with a firm reliance on all other members of our species who understand their consciousness as a capability, to assist all of us and our brothers to interact in order to realize a life process that manifests its maximum potential of diversity, vitality and planetary fertility to ensure the continuity of life on earth.

When you stop to think about it... Richard Nixon was Insane and He Caused a Lot of Americans to Die in Vietnam... He Campaigned on the Promise of Ending the War in 1968 but he Kept it going Until 1973... That was a Pointless Waste...

and...

He just wanted an excuse to Arrest Anti Vietnam War Protesters... Air America was an American passenger and cargo airline established in 1946 and covertly owned and operated by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) from 1950 to 1976. It supplied and supported covert operations in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War, including providing support for drug smuggling in Laos.[1][2][3]

MEME - gvan42 - Bubble Up Economics
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3kSBGRM3d2s

What is Bubble Up Economics?

How Does it Work? Simply Raise the Minimum Wage to Fifteen Dollars an Hour. Then all Those people will spend the extra money in their paychecks at American Businesses. Increasing Profits. Making Stockholders Happy! Then those businesses will have to hire more people to handle the extra Customers. Decreasing Unemployment Insurance Payments. Everybody WINS! With EMPLOYMENT AT A JOB becoming a Viable Alternative to Selling Drugs for a Street Gang, Some teenagers will choose Employment... Reducing CRIME... Reducing Costs for Prisons... Reducing Costs for Law Enforcement... People will buy more food for their Children. Causing Better Health and Smarter Kids... Starvation is Not Good for Children's Brains... Farmers will sell More. Truckers will move more merchandise to stores. Increased Competition for Workers will cause Everybody's Wages to Go Up. All those Workers will pay more in Income Taxes... That would make the Government happy... Right NOW, we are having a National Debt Ceiling Crisis because the Government is Spending More that it Takes in with Taxes... Bubble UP Economics would reverse that trend... The Money Bubbles UP Through Every Layer of Society... With a rising tide, every boat floats! We Tried Ronald Reagan's "Voodoo" Economics and It Has Failed... "People" Say That Bubble UP! Economics WILL MAKE Employers LAY OFF Workers... However... Employers HAVE ALREADY LAID OFF EVERYONE THEY POSSIBLY CAN... Have you Ever Seen a Business where People Work There but Have Nothing To DO? Never! Who Could Possibly be Opposed to the JOY of Bubble UP! Economics? Well, there are people in this world that have COMPULSIVE HOARDING OF MONEY SYNDROME. It's a Mental Health Disease just Like The Crazy Cat Lady

My Bus to Eureka
I do remember that on my way Home to Eureka, I was sitting up close to the Driver of the Bus and... I asked if he could drop me off at the Exit near my House... Since I had no Luggage in the Underneath Compartment and since we had become friends chatting with the other passengers... he said Yes! and POOF! I Walked Home... That's the Unexpected High Quality Service that you just don't get in the City... Since Eureka is a Small Town, We Get Small Town Hospitality!

Another Fabulous Train Ride by Amtrak was to Seattle, Washington... then Transfer to the Monorail so I could Visit the Space Needle Park... My ultimate goal of that trip was the EXPERIENCE MUSIC PAVILION.
Dedicated to Jimi Hendrix and Curt Cobain.

I ate TWO Marijuana Cookies, Drank a Cup of Very Strong Coffee and Just FLEW to that Museum. Out front there was a Musical Instrument Toy designed to be played by random Visitors. It was a Chromatic series of Tubular Bells that were whacked by a pool ball strung on a taught wire. Most of the other players were elementary school children so the sound was RATHER CHAOTIC but It was the High Point of that Trip. The inside of the Museum was not that great... although they had a sculpture that looked like a tornado made out of musical instruments... Guitars, Drums, Trumpets...

However, on such a High Dose of Marijuana, I was more interested in Observing the Beautiful Women Tourists than any of the Exhibits.

Later that Day I ended up in the Downtown Business District at Quitting time on a Friday Afternoon in the Springtime. There was a Band Playing GRUNGE Music in the Park and the Office Workers were Exploding out of their Cubicles and Making Plans to go Swimming, Boating and Camping... The sheer JOY of Freedom was Powerful... Secretaries and Men in Suits RIPPING OFF THE NECKTIE... and Cheering!

anyway... GO TO SEATTLE! The Monorail Ride is EPIC.
I did not go up in the Space Needle because there was a LONG LINE and I was Having fun on the Ground... Listening to a Live Peruvian Flute Band with Guitars playing INCA Songs.
and eating a Astonishing Kraut Dog with Mustard...

If you can't go in person to Seattle, there is a Great Elvis Presley Movie called "It Happened at the World's Fair" that allows you to see all the sights and sounds
AS THEY WERE IN 1963. And He Sings...
 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W1ojY5XLxnE

and YET another train ride... this time I also used the Light Rail in Santa Clara County... Riding the Train after Grateful Dead Concert in Santa Clara 6-28-2015 - Jerry Garcia's Ghost Visited us...

You may use the links below to visit pages about similar subjects.

I remember going to Disneyland as a Child. AND NOW... There is a Giant Addition All About Star Wars. I want to go! It Looks Wonderful on TV...

We also went to Fairyland in Oakland... The Star Trek Ride in Las Vegas... and the World's Fair in Seattle... and Recently, the Experience Music Pavilion - dedicated to Seattle's Jimi Hendrix and Curt Cobain. That was fun as they had a Giant Musical instrument (Tubular Bells) that visitors could play together... and so we EXPERIENCED MUSIC... However, the very best is EPCOT in Florida. I spent Five (5) Days there... Everybody told me that Space Mountain was the best ride and So, I Went to the Park just before it opened and ran to Space Mountain in order to avoid long lines... It's a roller coaster in a Dark room with Giant Movie Screens and Puppets... Since I was in the Dark, I was totally Fooled by the effect.

I also liked the Kraft Dancing Food Show. Perky Bottles of Milk and Bananas etc all singing some UPBEAT Song... Very similar to a ZAP Comix Cartoon... I went there every day from dawn to noon, went back to the Campsite and slept during the heat of the day and then went back at Night. At the Big Lake there is a Classical Music Show with Fireworks, Fountains, Incandescent Lights and Lasers. They project a map of the world on the Giant Silver Ball and then Make it Spin... Laser Animation... Quite Spectacular!

However, the VERY BEST was the Carousel of Progress... That Song! and The Wonders of Technology... Everybody Sing! "Now is the Time, Now is the Best Time, Now is the Best Time Of Your Life! Right Here and Now, You've Got It Made, The World's Forward Marching and You're In the Parade! - Written by The Sherman Brothers... they also wrote "It's a Small World after All"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kitchen_Kabaret

One of the Song and Dance Numbers at Kraft Foods Was:
"Veggie Veggie Fruit Fruit" by Colander Combo and the Fiesta Fruit... Night sounds, Latin percussion, and low lighting set the mood for this number, as the produce (broccoli, tomatoes, bananas, etc.) began to chant "Veggie-Veggie-Fruit-Fruit! Veggie-Veggie-Fruit-Fruit!" Bonnie Appetite, now in a Carmen Miranda-style carnival outfit, and perched upon a crescent moon that descended from the ceiling, sang "I simply have to tell you that my friends who are singing are...delectable!" Here, another running gag was present. A broccoli piece said "cha cha cha!" at times while his glasses flipped off, but the glasses resumed their spot.

On a Different Subject: David Koch Died Today. I Guess he will Stop Funding Evil Now.

I went to see The Beatle, George Harrison play in concert with Ravi Shankar... This was the "Bangladesh" Tour.

I took LSD and was annoyed by the BOOING by the crowd when Ravi Shankar Played...
I do know that George and Ravi did not play at the same time... no duets...

I Danced to Billy Preston's "Space Race" the high point of the concert and I don't really remember what George Did... I guess I was stoned and I missed It!

I do remember having difficulty driving home... I couldn't find the exit from the parking lot.
